YOUR FURTHER EDUCATION JOURNEY STARTS HERE

OFSTED DECLARE US “GOOD” IN EVERY RESPECT In February 2016, Ofsted inspectors visited our three main campuses in Colchester, Braintree and Clacton, as well as the Energy Skills Centre in Harwich and The Learning Shop in Dovercourt. We were declared ‘Good’ in every respect and we are delighted with the result, which came in the same month we moved into our new £10m Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths (STEM) centre in our South Wing building on Colchester campus.

During the inspection, our students were commended on their confidence, behaviour and positive attitude towards their learning. Here are some of the great things Ofsted inspectors said about our students:

Our staff were observed challenging students to work at a high standard and supporting them to develop new skills to prepare them for the working world. Here’s what the Ofsted inspectors said:

“Students who need help with their studies receive timely additional support.” “Progression into further education and employment is high.”

“Teachers use their extensive industry links to develop work experience opportunities and, in lessons, create effective links between theory and practice.”

We are proud to be a “GOOD” College and look forward to welcoming you to one of our Open Events.

This guide aims to provide you with the information you need to help you make the right choice about your next steps in education and training - but a prospectus cannot tell you everything! I hope that you will come and meet with staff and students and explore our campuses at one of the many Open Events throughout the year; and see for yourself how training at a vocational college can set you on the right path to success, whatever your chosen career. Students presented their ideas to the charity committee panel at Colchester Town Hall in March. Councillor Young said: “It has been a real pleasure working with Colchester Institute students; they have been totally professional and are a credit to the College and themselves.
