zone. ROME (AP)—Leon Lyen Martin of Puerto Rico finished 40th in the rapid fire pistol compe- | tition yesterday with 279 points. The Americans had gone into the finals with heat-winnimg time of 39.7 seconds, the same time in which Germany qualified. Germany took the finals in 40.1. Britain was third, Italy fourth and Venezuela fifth. Otis Davis anchored the 1,600-meter relay team which defeated. the German team by four yards in world record time. The U. S. team’s 3.022 smashed the 3:03.9 mark set by Jamaica in 1952.
