COLECTIVO 720 Taller de diseño con interés particular sobre los proyectos de alto impacto social y cultural. Los proyectos buscan reconstruir los distintos sistemas presentes en el territorio mediante intervenciones sencillas y sensibles al paisaje. Desde su fundación en 2011 en Cali, Colombia, por Mario Camargo y Luis Orlando Tombé, Colectivo 720 desarrollan de manera interdisciplinar proyectos arquitectónicos y urbanos. A su vez han participado en diferentes concursos de arquitectura, nacionales e internacionales, académicos y profesionales.

Design studio based in Cali, Colombia; has a particular emphasis on projects with high social and cultural impact. The projects seek to reconstruct the various systems on the territory, through simple and sensitive landscape interventions. Since its founding in 2011, by Architects Mario Camargo and Luis Orlando Tombé, COLECTIVO 720 develops urban and architectural projects in an interdisciplinary way. At the same time, have participated in various architectural competitions, national and international, academic and professional.

MARIO FERNANDO CAMARGO GÓMEZ Arquitecto y docente universitario graduado con título meritorio de la Facultad de Arquitectura de la Universidad del Valle, segunda promoción 2009. Desde el 2006 ha participado y resultado ganador de diferentes concursos nacionales académicos y profesionales de arquitectura; también ha realizado investigaciones sobre arquitectura institucional, vivienda e inclusión social. Como profesional ha desarrollado, coordinado, construido y direccionado proyectos en el ámbito del diseño urbano, arquitectónico y del paisaje. Desde el 2012 direcciona su propio taller en asocio con el arquitecto Luis Orlando Tombé, COLECTIVO720. Trabajando en red con profesionales de Bogotá, Cali y Medellín.

Architect and university professor with meritorious graduate degree from the Faculty of Architecture at Universidad Del Valle, graduated on the second semester of 2009. Since 2006, has participated and has won various professional and academic, national and international competitions. Also, has done researches about institutional architecture, housing and social inclusion. As a professional, has developed, coordinated, built and directed different projects in the field of urban, architectural and landscape design. Since 2012 directs his own studio, COLECTIVO 720, in partnership with Architect Luis Orlando Tombé; networking with professional from Bogota, Cali and Medellin.

LUIS ORLANDO TOMBE HURTADO Magister en Arquitectura de la Universidad Nacional de Colombia, sede Bogotá, arquitecto y docente universitario graduado de la Facultad de Arquitectura de la Universidad del Valle, segunda promoción 2010. Desde el 2007 ha participado en diversos concursos nacionales e internacionales. Trabajo para diferentes estudios de arquitectura en fases de: diseño conceptual, desarrollo e interventoría de proyectos. En el 2012 es cofundador de COLECTIVO720 en asocio con el arquitecto Mario Fernando Camargo, Trabajando en red con profesionales de Bogotá, Cali y Medellín.

Holds Master of Architecture at Universidad Nacional de Colombia, Bogota. Architect and university professor from the Faculty of Architecture at Universidad Del Valle, graduated on the second semester of 2010. Since 2007, has participated in various national and international competitions. Has worked in different architecture studios in phases of: conceptual design, development and supervision of projects. Con el criterio general de crear espacios que potencien el desarrollo integral de niños y niñas en la primera infancia, se ha proyectado un sistema que en conjunto responde de manera articulada a las necesidades pedagógicas, programáticas, funcionales, lúdicas, socioculturales, económicas y medioambientales. A través de la definición de dos sistemas constructivos se proyectó tratando de generar la mayor polivalencia espacial posible. El espacio interior lo componen tabiques móviles, mobiliarios removible y puntos fijos equipados.

The Kindergarten Prototypes project is designed as a system that responds in articulating pedagogical, programmatic, functional, recreational, social, cultural, economic and environmental needs. It is conceived by using two construction systems: metal and brickwork, in a combination that generates the highest possible spatial versatility. The interior space is composed with movable walls, non-fixed furniture and equipped staircases.

Se propone un conjunto de edificios que relacionen el espacio público de la universidad con la ciudad, liberando espacio público necesario para el intercambio de saberes y la interacción de la comunidad. El edificio consiste en un bloque que aprovecha la diferencia de nivel para generar un espacio de sombra útil para actividades culturales y comerciales. El usuario a través del recorrido va descubriendo los varios salones y laboratorios en el proyecto, llegando a una cubierta terraza adecuada para recreación y descanso.

The Computer Science & New Tecnologies building is part of a complex that relates public space of the University with the city, freeing public space for the exchange of knowledge and community interaction. The building consists of a single block that due to the level difference generates a useful shadow space for cultural and commercial activities. Once inside, users will discover its several rooms and laboratories as they pass through the project, leading to a roof terrace suitable for recreation and leisure.

A partir de la caracterización del vacío y las operaciones proyectadas se vinculará el equipamiento con los principales elementos de la estructura urbana. El sistema de movilidad, de equipamientos y de espacio público tendrá correspondencia con los usos, tradiciones e ideales que tienen del sector los futuros usuarios. Proyectar un sistema tan esquemático como flexible, que sea capaz de propiciar las secuencias espaciales apropiadas para la cultura y la educación, pero con una lectura unificada.

The project is the result of the urban-architectural connections of the lot. Empty space will be the articulating piece between the different elements of the urban structure. FACULTAD DE CIENCIAS SCIENCE FACULTY CONCURSO PRIVADO / PRIVATE COMPETITION. El campus y el edificio. Redefinir el concepto de laboratorio como un lugar dotado de los medios necesarios para realizar experimentos, prácticas y trabajos de carácter científico, tecnológico o técnico; sugiere pensar en las diversas prácticas e investigaciones en cualquiera de sus especialidades (química, biología, etc.) y como su condición ambiental normalizada y controlada plantea restricciones técnicas. Es así como el proyecto acentúa el carácter del uso proyectado y aboca sus dependencias sobre áreas pedagógicas de extensión haciendo énfasis en el sistema de circulaciones y sus interacciones espaciales. En otras palabras el edificio acentúa y propicia las relaciones de la escala humana.

The campus and the building. To redefine the concept of a laboratory as a place equipped with the necessary to carry out experiments, practices and works of a scientific, technological or technical nature; suggests thinking about the various practices and research in any of its specialties (Chemistry, biology, etc.) and how its controlled and normalized environmental condition raises technical constraints. That is how the project emphasizes the character of the projected use and focuses its dependencies on pedagogical areas of extension, making emphasis on the circulation system and its spatial interactions. In others words the building emphasizes and fosters the relationships of the human scale.

El programa de jóvenes caficultores, del comité departamental de cafeteros del Valle del Cauca, tiene como objetivo crear alternativas para la juventud rural mediante la implementación de un modelo de reforma agraria y educativa, en el cual los beneficiarios y sus familias participen en un proceso de formación que les permita mejorar sus condiciones de vida y ser promotores del relevo generacional. La propuesta retoma y reinterpretan las características arquitectónicas y espaciales tradicionales de la vivienda rural cafetera y del lugar.

The young farmers program from the coffee committee of Valle del Cauca aims to create alternatives for rural young workers by implementing an agrarian and educational reform in which the employees and their families participate in a training process that enables them to improve their living conditions and promote exchange of goods. The proposal incorporates and reinterprets their traditional architecture and spatial characteristics.

Diseño Participativo. El proyecto se enmarca en el programa de la gobernación de Antioquia bajo el lema “Antioquia la más educada” y La concepción del diseño parte de los imaginarios colectivos de los jóvenes beneficiarios, adulto mayor, funcionarios y la comunidad de San Francisco. A través de la mesas de trabajo se estructuro una propuesta que asume las realidades del contexto y entiende la topografía mediante un volumen compacto. Su arquitectura establece relaciones directas con el espacio público y articula el modelo de nuevas pedagogías con una infraestructura incluyente que retoma y reinterpreta el sentir y la estética del lugar. The project is part of the “Antioquia the most educated” state program in which its conception and design comes from the collective imagination of the community of San Francisco. The project is outlined as a compact volume that adjusts to its topography. Its architecture provides direct links to public space and articulates the new teaching model with an inclusive infrastructure that reinterprets the place aesthetics.

La implantación de la propuesta se define a partir de tres estrategias fundamentales: 1.La valoración del paisaje y los elementos naturales que la definen: Mantener el máximo de especies arbóreas del lugar de implantación, exaltando sus valores a través del diseño urbano arquitectónico. 2.La inserción del programa arquitectónico articulando el espacio público y dándole continuidad a los ejes urbanos que se definen en el campus. 3.La comprensión de los valores constructivos que tiene la estereotómica en conjunción con la tectónica para permitir mayor polivalencia espacial y un lenguaje institucional y contemporáneo.

Si asumimos la fachada como un medio que sirve no solo como elemento de cerramiento, sino como un elemento que comunica, protege, un medio sobre el cual interactúa; entendida como un sistema. Podríamos afirmar que la resolución de la misma no debe ser pensada solamente como una variable estética, sino como un “sistema” que genera identidad (Identidad Corporativa) y se relaciona contextualmente. Sustentamos la propuesta bajo la idea de PREGNANCIA y sus diversas propiedades tales como, el orden, la simetría y la coherencia en la estructura de la figura; “las figuras con mayor pregnancia tienen mayor capacidad de comunicación, se transmiten con mayor velocidad y logran fijarse en el observador”.

If we assume the facade as a medium that does not serve as an element of enclosure, but as an element that communicates, protected, a medium over which it interacts; understood as a system. We could say that the resolution of the same should not be thought of only as an aesthetic variable, but as a “system” that generates identity (corporative identity) and is related contextually. We support the proposal under the idea of PREGNANCY and its various properties such as order, symmetry and coherence in the structure of the figure. “The figures with greater pregnancies have greater capacity of communication, they are transmitted with greater speed and they manage to be fixed in the observer”.

Espacios abiertos, creativos, de relajación, dinámicos, verdes, lúdicos y de encuentro regional, espacios que el sector necesita para suscitar el intercambio de saberes e interactuar en comunidad. The Articulated Life Unit, is a public buildings situated on Potable Water Storage site in Medellin designed to generate urban acupuncture by encouraging citizen encounter with technology, recreation, sports and culture facilities. This site, shapes its form to reconstruct the memory of the complex and accentuate the existing landscape values using water and light as design elements, hence merging the building with public space.

Teniendo en cuenta el programa, las relaciones urbanas y el entendimiento del paisaje, se estructura e implanta el proyecto de la siguiente manera. 1. Paso Urbano: Sobre el nivel público se establecen continuidades urbanas y de manera transversal al lote se relaciona el conjunto de edificios. A su vez la perspectiva acusa visuales hacia los cerros tutelares con una valoración directa sobre el paisaje urbano natural y el edificado. 2. La calle museo: longitudinalmente se desarrolla una calle interna que conecta las salas de exposición y aulas, permitiendo categorías de privacidad desde lo público, lo social y lo privado.

By articulating the program, urban relations and landscape, the project is structured as follows. 1. Urban Passage: the project establishes an urban continuum on ground level and transverse axis by relating with nearby buildings. 2. Street museum: an internal street is created on the longitudinal axis to connect the exhibition galleries and classrooms; thus, allowing public to private program conditions.

Edificio de usos mixtos. La propuesta para el complejo de oficinas proyecta la construcción de un complejo que no solo responda a las dinámicas inmobiliarias y comerciales, sino que plantea estrategias para la resolución de sus bordes y un nivel de acceso de manera permeada y continúa. La implantación se acopla a la morfología existente y mediante dos volúmenes resuelve el programa de manera diferenciada, dejando en la plataforma o zócalo los usos complementarios que se verán abocados hacia lo público y las actividades de orden social. Mixed-use building. The proposal for the office complex, projects the construction of a building that not only responds to real estate and commercial dynamics, but also proposes strategies for the resolution of its edges and a level of access in a permeated and continuous way. The implantation is coupled to the existing morphology and through two volumes solves the program in a differentiated way, leaving in the platform or socket complementary uses that will be directed towards the public and social activities.

LIMA ART MUSEUM CONCURSO INTERNACIONAL / INTERNATIONAL COMPETITION. La arquitectura se planteó como un sistema de vacíos: es el vacío quien estructura el programa, divide los usos o da cabida a programa proyectado. Es así como en el “subsuelo” del museo, la excavación está definida y articulada por una calle que conecta desde distintos niveles los ámbitos urbanos y privados de la nueva ala del MALI. Se plantean de esta manera conexiones en distintos niveles que terminan de tejer la morfología y ponen en valor los vacíos, las relaciones, la calle, la plaza, en otras palabras el espacio colectivo. A través de este recorrido se construyen las relaciones significativas con el entorno cultural y geográfico del parque de la exposición y la ampliación del Museo MALI.

The architecture concept was conceived as a system of voids; they structure, divide and give space to the proposed program. Thus, in the “subsoil” of the museum, the excavation is defined and articulated by a street that connects from different levels the urban and private areas of the new wing of MALI. In this way, there are connections in different levels that complete of morphology of the building and give value to the public and collective space: the voids, the relations, the street, and the square. This journey built significant relations with the cultural and geographical environment of the exhibition park and the expansion of the MALI Museum.

El centro de desarrollo tecnológico plantea como estrategia fundamental promover la innovación, las competencias ciudadanas y el desarrollo tecnológico. Los espacios están pensados para generar redes de innovación vinculando empresas, universidades y otras entidades, orientadas a promover procesos de innovación en el sector productivo para su respectiva certificación. El objetivo principal es aumentar el rendimiento y la competitividad de los sectores productivos mediante la innovación tecnológica.

MEDIATECA MIRADOR MULTIMEDIA VIEWPOINT. TRES CRUCES. ENCARGO PRIVADO / PRIVATE COMISSION.

El objetivo de este proyecto es desarrollar una propuesta singular desde el punto de vista paisajístico, que se relacionen de manera directa con uno de los puntos de atracción turística más representativos del municipio de Cali. Un mirador mediático en un lugar privilegiado desde el que puede contemplarse con facilidad el paisaje urbano, natural y cultural de la región. El programa plantea una mediateca pública tipo mirador que brinda acceso a diversos tipos de medios tecnológicos.

AMPLIACIÓN TEATRO COLÓN COLON THEATRE EXPANSION. CONCURSO INTERNACIONAL / INTERNATIONAL COMPETITION.

Como estrategia principal se determinó identificar las problemáticas más representativas del sector, dando respuesta a cada una de ellas y convirtiéndolas en determinantes de diseño. El primero de los determinantes estaba definido por la configuración de la manzana y su relación con el sector, para el cual se proyectó un zócalo macizo que se permea mediante patios sobre complejo teatral. Otros de los determinantes estaban dados por la posible obstaculización de los elementos que componen el paisaje, por la complejidad del programa y la normativa vigente para el lote. Como oportunidad de diseño y con la necesidad imperante de desarrollar una arquitectura que permita grandes luces y la mayor polivalencia espacial posible, se proyectó sobre los cimientos estereotómicos un sistema estructural ligero.

This Project is located in downtown Bogota. The first operation consists in drawing a plinth as the baseline of the project, containing a courtyard and giving urban continuity. The main courtyard orders and articulates the Theatre Complex. The program for the Colon Theatre expansion holds contemporary performance methods no longer suitable to the traditional typology. Therefore, a new light and flexible structure is proposed, resulting into an ambiguous building, both airy and strong, delightful. 53

«La muerte ha sido considerada como el comienzo de un viaje y no como la aniquilación de la persona. Por esto se acompaña al difunto hacia la nueva vida con prácticas musicales en contextos particulares. Si hubiese incumplimiento de los rituales que en estos escenarios se llevan a cabo, el alma del difunto estaría destinada a andar errante por el mundo». LA IDEA. Homogéneo y Disperso. Laberintico y Direccional. Luz y Sombra. Se propone desarrollar una arquitectura que genere relaciones ambiguas a través de los opuestos, una arquitectura que sea capaz de acoger las manifestaciones culturales y valore a su vez mediante las visuales y la percepción el paisaje.

Death has been considered the beginning of a journey and not the annihilation of the individual. If breached the rituals of these scenarios, the soul of the deceased would be destined to wander the world. The idea: Homogeneous and Disperse, Labyrinthine and directional, Shadow and Light. It is proposed an architecture that creates ambiguous relationships through opposites, an architecture capable of hosting cultural events and values the visual and landscape perception.

Modulares de Salud Coomeva está concebido como un sistema que permitirá llevar los servicios de salud a usuarios en cualquier lugar del territorio nacional, principalmente donde las necesidades de contingencia asistencial son muy altas. Como la población activa de los afiliados a las entidades de salud, sus condicionantes geográficas y de infraestructura es fluctuante; los costos de ejecución y desarrollo de infraestructuras tradicionales se hacen inversamente proporcionales a los costos de operación del sistema de salud. Por lo tanto se hizo necesario desarrollar una tipología modular flexible, adaptable, fácilmente reproducible, confortable, estética y con identidad corporativa.

VIVIENDA UNIFAMILIAR / FAMILIAR HOUSE. Es un proyecto propuesto a las afueras de la ciudad que explora el recorrido como principal elemento de conexión, generando con este una sucesión de espacios que se van revelando en su recorrido. Esto permite una clara zonificación de la vivienda, la adaptación topográfica y una fuerte relación con el bosque en su parte posterior. El sistema además contribuye a una posible construcción por etapas por estar subdividido en bloques.

This project lies at the suburbs, it explores path as the main source of connection, revealing space with motion. This premise allows a clear distribution of the program while softly adapting to its topography. Furthermore, this system grants the possibility of constructing it by parts.

La problemática parte por entender la creciente ola invernal, la deficiente infraestructura urbana, el déficit de vivienda en la zona y la falta de interés social en la construcción del hábitat popular. Se proyectó así un refugio temporal capaz de transformarse en vivienda permanente, permitiendo dentro de sí la evolución programática y el crecimiento progresivo. Un sistema modular capaz de propiciar la mezcla eficaz de múltiples tipos y estructuras más polivalentes.

Climate change, poor urban infrastructure, housing shortage and lack of interest in social housing are the main criteria to propose a project that understands the population’s real needs. A flexible temporary shelter was created that is able to transform into a permanent house by achieving an incremental social housing scheme. The project seeks to create systemic interactions at landscape levels, architectural, urban, social, cultural, and environmental aspects that integrate the development of the ecosystem through the main ecological structure of the river “Juan Amarillo” and its area of influence. La propuesta se basa en reconocer la formación del tejido urbano en Bogotá; de forma más precisa su estructura morfológica, como el primer modelo urbano con el que se proyectó la ciudad y que le dio identidad. Caracterizando espacios determinantes de la estructura urbana, La Plaza, La Calle, la Manzana, la Cuadra y el patio en relación e interacción directa con El ciudadano y El Paisaje, se reinterpreta el sistema articulado de llenos y vacíos que contienen el parque.

The proposal is based on recognizing the formation of the urban structure in Bogota; more precisely its morphological structure, as the first urban model with which the city was projected and which gave it identity. Characterizing spaces that determine the urban structure, squares, streets, blocks and the backyard in relation and direct interaction with the citizen and the landscape, it reinterprets the articulated system of full and empty spaces that contain the park.

El centro cívico es la oportunidad de consolidar la principal centralidad metropolitana en el Valle de Aburra. El proyecto busca establecer relaciones urbanas, ambientales y sociales, partiendo de su reconocimiento y buscando generar sinergias entre ellos. Tomando el Territorio y las Transversalidades como base fundamental, se logran articular la movilidad urbana y ambiental, optimizar la ocupación del suelo urbano y fomentar la construcción de una cultura del paisaje.

Medellin’s Civic Center aims to generate an urban consolidation on the main metropolitan city of the Aburra Valley. The project seeks to establish urban, environmental and social relations based on acknowledging their individual characteristics and pursuing to generate a synergy between them. By making use of the Territory and the Transverse axes, the project accomplishes to articulate urban and environmental networks, optimize urban land occupation, and encourages social appreciation for their cultural landscape.

La propuesta busca potenciar el PAISAJE como la interacción entre lo AMBIENTAL y lo CULTURAL. El Cerro Nutibara, Cerro de las tradiciones, busca divulgar, comunicar y conservar las tradiciones de las nueve subregiones de Antioquía a través de la creación de tres áreas temáticas. Cada área temática se torna en un anillo en asenso, el cual el primero trabaja la identidad, el segundo las artes y los saberes y el tercero los deportes y las tradiciones.

The proposal seeks to articulate Environment and Culture with Landscape. The Nutibara hill, hill of the traditions, pursues to communicate and preserve traditions of the nine subregions of the Department of Antioquia by creating three thematic areas. Each theme forms an ascending ring, the first is dedicated to identity, the second to the arts and knowledge, and the third to sports and traditions.

El Cerro La Asomadera, Cerro de la biodiversidad y el deporte a cielo abierto, busca divulgar, comunicar y conservar el patrimonio de la biodiversidad del Valle de Aburrá, a través de la generación de tres recorridos temáticos. Cada área temática se torna en un recorrido lineal en sentido longitudinal con niveles distintos, el cual el primero es un camino herbario, el segundo el camino de las aves y el tercero el camino de la fauna.

The proposal seeks to articulate Environment and Culture with Landscape. The Asomadera hill, hill of biodiversity and sports, pursues to communicate and preserve the biodiversity heritage of the Aburra Valley by creating three thematic tracks. Each theme extends lengthwise in different ascending levels, the first is a herbal corridor, the second a birds path, and the third a wildlife track.

Hilo longitudinal que mantiene en tensión el marco o la ciudad, para diferenciarlo se proyectan hilos sobre la urdimbre; hilos que ahora denominaremos “trama“, cada hilo individual de la urdimbre conformara así: Un tejido Urbano. La propuesta se plantea bajo la noción de costura urbana, relacionando, articulando y renaturalizando los sistemas estructurantes existentes, logrando que el Parque Río se convierta en un eje vivo que conecte el territorio y la ciudad.

Mediante la interacción con la naturaleza y el paisaje urbano busca mejorar la calidad de vida y el desarrollo humano integral de los habitantes de la ciudad y de la región. Espacios abiertos, creativos, de relajación, dinámicos, verdes, lúdicos y de encuentro binacional; espacios que la región necesita para suscitar el intercambio de saberes e interactuar con los individuos y las comunidades de las dos naciones.

Un diagnóstico de las condiciones actuales de Iluminación del Castillo y del desarrollo de 2 Estrategias: A. Relación lejana: Percepción del Castillo desde su volumetría y elementos compositivos, geometría, forma de implantación y los distintos planos de profundidad que lo componen. B. Relación cercana: Es la relación que establece un usuario a través de un recorrido “interior” del Castillo. Permitir el recorrido nocturno con iluminación BIC y planteamientos de la carta Taxco del año 2009. A diagnosis of the current lighting conditions of the castle and the development of two strategies: A. Distant relationship: The perception of the castle from its volumes and compositional elements, geometry, implementation form, besides the different depth planes that compose it. B. Close relationship: It refers to the relationship established by the users through an “internal” tour of the castle. Colonia Infancia aborda la construcción de lo artístico, lo metafórico y lo social (privado/público) a través de la idea de una casa y sus alrededores entendiendo la casa como un espacio para generar conocimiento a partir del juego. Con el fin de generar una propuesta integral, el proyecto plantea también el desarrollo de una agenda de visitas al Museo para niños entre los 3 y 6 años, que además de la actividad en sala incluya el desarrollo de un taller.

“Colonia Infancia” addresses the construction of artistic, metaphorical and social (private/public) through the idea of a house and its surroundings, while understands the house as a place to generate knowledge through playful activities. To achieve a comprehensive proposal, the project also proposes visits of 6-8 years old children to the museum that includes interactive activities with the space and the development of a workshop.

El modulo en sí mismo multiplicara las posibilidades de agrupación y por lo tanto de sistematización en todos los componentes mediante diversas estrategias a nivel corporativo, formales, funcionales, técnicas y sostenibles.

The daily spaces destined to the parking of vehicles provide large areas potentially usable for the obtaining of solar energy and capture of the rains; our proposal not only fulfills this need but also provides a landscape of folds based on natural, dynamic, systematic and perceptive richness. The module itself will multiply the possibilities of grouping and therefore of systematization in all the components through diverse formal, functional, technical and sustainable strategies at the corporate level.
