Kindergarten Teacher School Supplies Gift Box I packaged everything up in a large file crate. I put paper towels and tissue boxes in the crate first. Then I filled it up with the smaller goodies– lots of Elmer’s glue (the kiddos go through this SO fast), pencils, crayons, etc. There were also adorable note pads for the teachers, pens just for them, and some candy for good measure! Once it was all situated in the crate the way I wanted, I wrapped up the whole bin with clear cellophane. Then, we tied on some kid scissors and watercolor paints on as part of the bow and attached one note pad to the front with a little note! Big Brother and I then took it in to the whole Kindergarten pod on Friday afternoon. All the teachers were so delighted! It was fun to see their reac tions and it was great for Big Brother to have that interaction with them! They seemed to love everything so much!

Back-to-School Teachers’ Gift Ideas My niece is a 4th/5th grade teacher and just about to start her 3rd year as a full-fledge educator. I’m really excited for her because she’s made to be a teacher, so I chose her for my Bag It Forward donation. I ended up in the crafts aisle and found everything I needed for Katie’s gift. I’d visited the Elmer’s® product site online so I knew what I was looking for – various adhesives, glues, and that paper cutter she wanted (and it’s pink)! I added some fabulous Elmer’s Gel Pens in a rainbow of colors that I’m sure will be used quite often in the classroom. I love that! I also picked up some decorative scissors for crafting in class and perhaps to make some of her own note cards as well. I found a fabulous purple tin to place all of the gifts in and which becomes a gift in itself. It can be used in the classroom in so many ways – I think she’ll really enjoy it. I can see it filled with books, craft supplies, and more. I can’t wait to give Katie the gift but like many teachers about to start the school year, she and her husband snuck off for a weekend away. I wanted to get this posted so you had a chance to learn about the app and get it installed since so many schools have or are starting this week. I’ll update the post later this week with Katie’s photo. I can’t wait until she sees it!

Elmer’s Back to School Kit Donation Campaign Since I’m such a fan of Back to School, I was thrilled to learn that Elmer’s has a 1st Day App you can download. And best of all, the App is FREE. There’s a display at Walmart, with a QR code you can scan it with your smartphone for more information or to download the App right in the store. By using the App, you will be helping to drive donations to the Kids in Need Foundation. What a fun and easy to use App! It was truly easy and inexpensive to pick up a kit, and make a donation to the UCP/Best Friends pre-k classroom teacher, Miss Ginger. UCP/Best Friends is an inclusion program and works hard to support children in need. Owen loved giving the kit to Miss Ginger.

Bagging it Forward with Elmer’s & Glue Jewel Bracelets! This year, instead of just buying supplies for our family, we are also buying supplies to give away to a teacher for her classroom. Elmer’s is hosting a campaign called “Bag it Forward,” inspiring people to donate school supplies to kids in need or teachers. Walmart always has great back to school prices for school supplies, so it was easy for us to find lots of supplies to donate! We also had fun making up a craft using Elmer’s X-Treme Elmer’s glue sticks. We went to Walmart and were surprised to see that they were already setting up all the school supply items. We found a big Elmer’s display full of helpful info about back to school supplies. There was a QR code…so I had to check it out! It took me right to the Elmer’s “1st Day” App. I am loving this app!! My mom is a retired school teacher so she helped me pick out all the items to donate to Ms.D’s classroom at Spencer Elementary in Oklahoma City. Most of the kids that go here cannot buy supplies for school and they rely on donations. This is why I thought it was so important to donate to this school… and Ms. D is so deserving!!! “Ms. D” was so happy to receive all the school supplies! She immediately started rummaging through all of the items. I know that the kids that use them will be so happy to have great supplies to use!

Giving Back With Elmer’s I made my way down the aisles and was picking up products left and right focusing on those supplies that I remembered using in the classroom and supplies that they always seeemed to be running low on. I hit the gluesticks HARD. I don’t know how many gluesticks I went through in that kindergarten class! I bought all different sizes for the teachers, helpers, and students. I picked up all kinds of supplies including Elmer’s glue in every size and color imaginable. Scissors, tissues, crayons, pencils, colored pencils, paper, markers, you name it - I bought it! I got A LOT of stuff! We were able to stuff everything into two fun-filled bags. By this point Reece was so excited that we headed out the door, each of us with one bag, and surprised his teacher. Make A Difference! Bag It Forward! It doesn’t take much to get involved and help. I want to encourage each one of you to pick up a school supply the next time you’re in the store and Bag It Forward by donating it to a school, teacher, organization, or student in need. It can be a 10 cent glue stick or you could go bigger - it’s up to you! Trust me, it feels amazing to help out and if we each do a small part in our individual communities...think of the difference we can make!

Helping Kids In Need Get Ready For School We Love Helping Kids in Our Community ~ The Bag It Forward Program Helps Make This Possible ~ My kids and I have also been donating many items to our local charity. The last donation we made was 50 boxes of Post cereal for the Post CFK “Post Bowls of Hope” program. It was an amazing experience to help others, and my daughter got so much out of the experience. She asks me all the time now about when we can donate more items to The Sharing Locker, which is our local charity. I told her while we were shopping for her school items, that this would be a great time to buy for kids in need! The philosophy of “Buy Two, Give One” I completely love, and the Bag It Forward program will help to gather school supplies for kids in need using this same idea. My kids were psyched to help out kids and our community again! They decided that they would each pick out a backpack for a kid in need and fill it up with school supplies! My son picked out a pirate backpack and my daughter chose a monkey backpack. We wanted to make a donation big enough to help many kids in need, not just two, so we

Elmer’s Bag It Forward School Supply Donation Movement We were on a mission to purchase quality school supplies and create a Bag It Forward School Supply donation kit! Afterwards, we planned on dropping the kit off to A Gift For Teaching! We know our efforts will help deserving teachers and students! It doesn’t take a lot of money to help. When you go shopping for your child’s back to school list, grab a few extra supplies and make a donation. I encourage you to join the Bag It Forward movement and help your community. Think about how many students we can help by donating a few items. Sure an eraser or paper may not seem like much to some, but for a child who is embarrassed to ask fellow students for extra supplies, and/ or for a teacher who is using his or her paycheck to purchase extra supplies it makes a HUGE difference. My son was excited to deliver our goodies! I love sharing these missions with him as he learns valuable lessons about giving and caring. Elmer’s made a generous donation to A Gift For Teaching and these are some of the remaining products. The staff was so kind. It was a great experience!

Back to School Already?! I had my checklist in hand, the 1st Day app downloaded and I was ready to shop! Since I have three boys and the special someone I picked for my Bag it Forward donation is a little girl, I was super excited to shop for her, but also a bit intimidated – I never shopped for a little girl before! But I had a few ideas of what she liked and my list in hand so I at least had a starting place to go from. I knew she didn’t have any supplies for the school year yet so I wanted to get as much as possible to start her year off right – Glue sticks, glue pens, crayons, markers, colored pencils, erasers, scissors, paper, pencil pouches, a pencil sharpener and back pack to fit it all in. Plus some home storage just for her school supplies and a dry erase magnetic memo board to keep her organized. Did I mention how much I love shopping for school supplies? Did I mention how I love Walmart’s prices??? Now a little more about the little girl who this basket is going to and her mom. Her mom and I used to work together before I decided to become a stay at home mom. She was the first person I met at the company and we became fast friends. Her husband lost his job some time ago and has not been able to find a new one. Her daughter is so adorable. She loves arts and crafts so I just knew to buy her some extra glue sticks and supplies that she could use outside of school as well. Her daughter was so excited with her new supplies! YES! Mission accomplished!!!!

Time for Back to School Shopping So we collected a variety of items needed for the upcoming school year for our “Bag it Forward Buddy.” We also found a nice collapsible basket to put the items in. I thought his Mom might enjoy it. My son was so excited about the gift. And if you are keeping track, we included Elmer’s School Glue, Elmer’s Glue Sticks, Elmer’s Folding Foam Board (for our card) and Elmer’s 3D Glitter Colors among the other supplies.

Then we went to work on a card to accompany our gift. I love that the Bag It Forward Program encourages people to keep bagging it forward. I already spoke with our recipient’s Mom and what they don’t need she will be passing on to her Mother-in-Law, who is a teacher. She is always collecting supplies for her classes. Our card said, “You are our Hero for going back to super School!” We decorated it with superhero stickers, a crayon and put a “You’ve Been Bagged” page on the front. It is so easy to make someone else’s day, but this project also helped us. This was a real blessing for my son who has been having fears about going to school. By sharing supplies with an older student friend, he was able to replace those fears with anticipation and excitement.

Bag it Forward with Elmer’s I will admit, I am a little crazy about school supplies. Something about them just brings back so many memories. I know many children are like this. It’s about a new start and a way to wipe the slate clean and start over for the year! I always loved shopping for new supplies and opening that brand new box of crayons or using that glue for the first time. Seeing all the school supplies also reminds me of fall, football, and sweater weather! I loaded up my cart and headed home with all sorts of goodies for the teachers. I also found some cute bags too that are reusable and perfect to put the supplies in! Of course, I also stocked up on Elmer’s products like their school glue and glue sticks! Oh, the crafting that can be done with those! I was able to pick up all of these products for right around $25 and bless a few deserving teachers in our life and wish them a great start to a new year! We filled up the bags and are all set to deliver them next month during the Meet the Teachers Night at school! I know my son is just as excited as I am to give these to his teachers. I encourage each of you to pick up an extra set of supplies this year and Bag it Forward to a deserving child or teacher in your life. It just takes one person to make a difference, but together we can empower children and teachers with a wonderful start to a new school year!

Elmer’s Bag It Forward To a friend in Need! Elmer’s, the wonderful company behind all the fantastic school supplies, is sponsoring the Bag it Forward campaign. The mission of this campaign is to provide school supplies to children in need and teachers in local communities across the country. This campaign could not have come at a more meaningful time as we recently found out that a dear friend of ours lost her job. Her husband has been out of work for a few months as well. The stress of paying the bills basically put them in a huge financial hole. They also have a son who is entering his first year of kindergarten and while they are excited to see him go to the “big” school, they did not know how they could afford the supplies that he needed. I decided that I wanted to help them out by making her son a special Elmer’s back-to-school bag, filled with fun goodies for the school year. Since my daughter Haley is friends with him, she wanted to put a big smile on his face. While I was not there to see him open it, my girlfriend called me immediately afterwards in tears of joy. She was so thankful of what I did to help out her son with the up and coming school year. I also loved the fact that Haley helped me because I truly believe it is important to teach children at a young age the meaning of giving, rather than always receiving.

School Supply Cake Right now is the best time to purchase school supplies for a fraction of the normal cost. Walmart has their Elmer’s Glue Sticks for 10 cents! You can also find 10 cent notebooks and folders. If you need any donation ideas check out my top ten back-to-school supplies here. I felt that I had to create something with this donation. I’ve been pinning a lot of crafty back-to-school inspiration and knew I wanted to make a school supply cake. I’ll have a tutorial for it soon. It’s going to be my son’s gift for his teacher in the upcoming school year. The students are provided with supplies at school but I thought this “cake” would be great for the teacher to give to students who are unable to purchase these items. I also made a bag of supplies for a sweet little girl whose mother is currently unemployed, and I know is having a hard time right now. I wanted to buy some necessary back to school supplies to help ease the financial stress. I’m taking her to pick out a new backpack and lunch box next week. She doesn’t know about the supplies yet so it’ll be a surprise. My kids know and they’re so excited that I’m afraid they will “spill the beans.” The Bag It Forward program means a lot to me and I encourage you to participate. Showing Teacher Appreciation With Elmer’s Products Our Walmart had a large Elmer’s display in the center of the store, where we were able to score great deals like glue sticks for only 10 cents. Prices like this make it easy to Bag It Forward! We were able to pick up a lot of super school supplies to Bag It Forward for our favorite teacher Mrs. Hilson. After church on Sunday we presented Mrs Hilson with a bag of the school supplies we purchased for the Elmer’s Bag It Forward program. She was so very touched and appreciative of the gift. Mrs. Hilson teaches 8th grade Math and has done so for 25 years. In addition to teaching Math, she is also coaches the school’s varsity cheerleading team. Mrs. Hilson is one of those teachers who truly cares about her students. We know the gift will be put to good use!

Back-to-School with Elmer’s and Walmart So, we set off for back to school shopping at Walmart! Little Abigail joined me on this adventure. The first thing we did was check out the Elmer’s Back-to-School School Supply List stand with the classroom supply lists and that got us started on the right foot. Our goal was to go ahead and get two of everything – one to keep and one to give. Our “extra-mile” goal was to get a few fun things just for Emma’s teacher to make her feel special and help her be excited for the new school year. Thanks to Walmart, all that was affordable and super-easy to do all in one place. The Elmer’s display at Walmart had a QR code where we could get the new 1st Day App download from Elmer’s. It’s the perfect app for parents and teachers because you can easily snap and share photos of all the back-to-school, and new-to-school, milestones. Plus, for every photo uploaded, Elmer’s will donate one product to the Kids in Need Foundation. It’s especially nice for parents like me who are always on the go – this way I can take a few photos and then when I have time, go back into the app and create journals or slide shows and organize and share the photos.

Donating School Supplies with Bag It Forward! Have you heard of Bag It Forward? It is really neat! Elmerâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s is working hard to inspire others to purchase extra school supplies and donate them to a child or teacher who is in need of them. Walmart has their supplies at amazingly low prices, so spending an extra few bucks would give you a bag full of supplies to donate! There are so many children who need people to help them to have the proper tools to succeed in school. Where do they get the supplies when their families just canâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;t afford to buy them? We all know that there are many teachers who spend money out of their own pocket to provide these supplies for students who do not have what they need. Fact: Teachers spend an average of $356 of their own money on supplies and resources for their classroom. The Bag it Forward program is very easy to participate in. Simply pick up some extra school supplies and find a child or teacher who can use them! How simple is that?! We put together a fun basket full to the brim with supplies, a cute jar with pencils included, and a little banner on the front.

Make a Difference & Donate School Supplies to a Teacher I am featuring our donation to a special kindergarten teacher named Mrs. G. I’m sure many of you have similar stories of favorite teachers but she truly LOVES teaching, is very patient and has always welcomed my children into her classroom – even though they didn’t go to her school. So this year we wanted to Bag it Forward to her and get her some school supplies for the new year. We decided to go to Walmart for our school supplies since they had some rockin’ sales this week. My store had single Elmer’s Glue Sticks for just $.10 each!! We bought everything I could think of for a kindergarten grade level! I found a great deal on pencils too! Check out the load we bought! This is going to be one happy teacher!! With SO many Elmer’s Glue Sticks I got the idea to make something with them that my son could hand directly to Mrs. G.

Elmerâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s Bag It Forward School Supply Kit For A Teacher I purchased a gray crate to contain the school supplies. I wanted to give something that Ms. S. could use in her classroom but I decided to decorate it a little before adding the supplies. I put washi tape around the top of the box. Then, using a red Elmerâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s Painters marker, I colored in every other circle on the long sides of the crate. Once the paint dried, I added the school supplies. They all fit in the crate and at the last second I added a bag of Smarties. Ms. S. will sometimes give treats to her students and I figured that Smarties would be the perfect treat for a teacher to give her smart students! Then, I put the crate in the back of my husbandâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s car and we went to drop off the kit. Ms. S. is going to have a birthday soon so we had a celebration. It was the perfect opportunity to give Ms. S. the kit. She was delighted and said that the supplies will definitely get used. The first thing she took out of the crate were the permanent markers. She said they get used a ton! Ms. S. is a high school teacher and often spends her own money to buy supplies. Although high school students are not the first ones that come to mind for kids needing school supplies, they need them as much as any other students. These supplies will help Ms. S. and also her students.

School Supply Donation It wasnâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;t expensive to purchase a ton of quality school supplies for the Bag It Forward project. For 3 packs of pencils, (13) 2-packs of glue, 1 package of erasers, 2 packs of dry erase markers, 3 packs of crayons, 2 packs of markers, and 4 pairs of scissors, we spent just over $20. How easy is that? I can only imagine the smile on Mrs. Jâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s face when we present her with all the supplies. Because this is a gift, we decided to make it look nice. I found a pretty basket and Mister Man set to work to make everything fit nicely in there. I let him run the show and arrange it how he wanted. It makes me giggle sometimes to see how he does things. My child is as organized as I am - all the items have to be laid in order on the floor first. I was a little concerned that he would simply toss the school supplies into the basket and be done with it. I should have known better. Instead, he worked the basket like a puzzle to ensure that every back to school item we had purchased would fit nicely into the basket. Somehow, all of our school supplies managed to fit into one basket.

Bag It Forward Back To School Supplies For my Bag it Forward project, I decided to donate my school supplies to a teacher at a local elementary school. The elementary school I chose isnâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;t the poorest of the poor, it is a middle of the road school with a large pocket of homeless kids. I chose this school because while the schools that are the most stricken receive a lot of a local help, the middle of the road schools often get over looked. Because I do not know any of the teachers at this school, I am going meet with the guidance counselor. If anyone knows which teacher needs the most help providing supplies, itâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s the guidance counselor. Everything is all bagged up and ready to go. As soon as teachers head back to school, I will pass along my bag of goodies. Buy then, I should have three times the amount of supplies collected through my personal back to school project to add to my donation. I challenge you to join me and Bag it Forward!

Deserving Teachers Please, please, get involved in this Bag it Forward project! Think about how happy you are when you have a new set of pens or some fresh highlighters. Now think about that child who goes to school without the pretty pen or a fresh notebook. Imagine how it must feel to be the kid who has the sewn up backpack because their family can’t afford a shiny new one every year like the other kids. Just take a moment and do a good deed and you will feel fantastic, I promise! If you really can’t afford to help then there is another way. You can download the 1st Day App and for every picture that you upload Elmer’s will donate one product to the Kids in Need Foundation! It really doesn’t get easier than that! You can find the QR code on the class supply lists in Walmart. Please stay tuned because I am donating one school supply cake to Debbi, the Principal of Barhitte Elementary. She used to be a teacher and my cheerleading coach and is very active in the community. My High School cake is going to Mrs. Richardson, who was my class sponsor, English teacher and the organizer of our National Honors Society. Appreciation for Teachers Showing Appreciation for teachers and kids. They go through lots of glue, crayons, pencils and work books, as if they eat the stuff! So it was easy to build up a list of essential items for Back to School. But just in case you are not sure what you should get to Bag It Forward to a student or teacher in your community, your local Walmart will have extensive School Supply Lists to help you build up your donation. I’ve also created a top ten list of Back to School items to help you get started, so be sure to check it out and let me know what you think. It was a family affair with Little Miss Monkey #2 coming along for the shop while her brother was at daycare at Children’s Corner. Big Monkey then helped me create a school supplies cake, Preston added the finishing touches and we were then able to present it to some of his teachers. Children’s Corner is running a day camp, so we were lucky to be able to present them with the school supplies cake and other goodies and not have to wait until September. Preston was busting at the seams to give it to them all day. By the time I returned with it at the end of the day, he was beaming from ear to ear. It was well received, with the kids wanting to get their hands on everything and the teachers visibly happy as well.

Say Thank You, Make a Donation Once we had our donation kit put together and decorated it with the sign we were ready to surprise our favorite teacher. Since both my kids had her for first grade, I thought my older son would like to be a part of the project, too. He hasnâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;t been back to the elementary school in a couple of years and was eager to see Mrs. Murphy again. I think that our Teacher Donation Kit was much appreciated and I know that she will put it to good use in her classroom. I feel good knowing that not only am I helping support a teacher I love but that because I uploaded a photo to the Elmerâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s 1st Day App a donation will also be made to the Kids In Need Foundation. Bag It Forward School Supply Shopping So not only were we Bagging It Forward, we could preserve our memories of back-to-school shopping with the 1st Day App and donate even more! In addition to learning about the new app, discovering great products and putting together a fabulous Back It Forward donation, I truly enjoy watching my children catch the spirit of giving and really get into comparison shopping for supplies. For example, when we visited the glue section to choose Elmerâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s products for each back-to-school bundle, they looked at the product selection, pricing, amount in each package and style. And they really deliberated what would be best for projects and what their teachers and mom would be happiest with them using, along with what they really liked. Ultimately, we decided on the Elmerâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s 6 pack of washable glue sticks with the gel glue sticks (pictured above) because they were well priced and the boys really wanted to try the gel sticks. I love, love, love that they learned such valuable life lessons on our Bag It Forward journey! Here we are dropping off our donation at our local community outreach center.

Elmer’s 1st Day App The Elmer’s 1st Day app is very interesting. The app allows you to capture, organize, and share those priceless pictures and memories from the first day of school. What sold me on the app though is that for every photo uploaded, Elmer’s will donate one product to the Kids In Need Foundation, and is proud to help with a donation of up to 200,000 products. That’s pretty cool! Walmart had some great prices on school supplies and I was able to find just about everything on my list. I made sure to pick up 2 of everything so that I could Bag It Forward! Z.E.N. admired the Spiderman folder that he picked out. When I got home, I sorted through all the stuff we bought and separated them into two piles. One pile was for Z.E.N. and one was for Mrs. H. I packed the supplies for Mrs. H. into a reusable bag and added some green tissue paper to make it look presentable. I sorted and packed school supplies for Bag It Forward. Z.E.N. can’t wait to present the bag to Mrs. H. next month on Welcome Back to School Night!

Mommy Gives Back Elmer’s Glue Crew I started crafting my glue eating monster and the donation bucket. We usually do a ton of craft projects together but this time I wanted a chance to do one on my own in some well needed alone time. I made the face of the monster and the body of the box from some cardboard boxes I had put in the garage to get recycled. I also used some construction paper to cover the cardboard and make it colorful. I used Elmer’s School Glue, an X-Acto knife to cut out the monster, pipe cleaners for a little tuft of hair, a black marker and some bamboo skewers we had in the kitchen for little flag poles. Kayla was VERY excited and proud to deliver our glue eating monster and our Bag It Forward donation to school. The Pre-K teacher, Ms. Pam, was so grateful for our donation and impressed with the monster that she told me I should be a teacher! I told her I’ll stick to projects to help teachers because I don’t think I have what it takes in the patience department to wrangle a gaggle of preschoolers (one is hard enough) but I have the utmost respect for anyone who does!

Basketball-style Recycling Bin Elmer’s Glue Crew I can’t think of a better kind of project than one that allows you to be creative, support education, and be good to the earth at the same time. When I heard about this Bag It Forward campaign from Elmer’s, I jumped at the chance to support my local school and the Glue Crew Recycling Program. Using Elmer’s foam board and a mini basketball backboard from Walmart, I created this fun recycling box that shows that “Recycling is a Slam Dunk for the Earth”! You’ll find step-by-step photos and instructions by clicking the button. I purchased both of the supplies for the box...and quality school supplies for the classroom donation from Walmart. Today, I popped the donations in the basketball-themed box...and presented the donation and the Glue Crew Recycling Program to Mrs. Cina’s second-grade class!
