The Messenger NOT EVERYONE WHO DIES GOES TO A BETTER PLACE By Lakan Mariano For believers in Jesus Christ, heaven will be a happy reunion with loved ones who died in Christ. Yes, in heaven, I will see my Lord Jesus. I am excited to meet and visit with men and women in the Bible and in church history who have become my mentors over the years. And I am certainly looking forward to seeing Kim again. (I am smiling with delightful anticipation as I write this.)
But not everyone who dies goes to heaven. There are at least two lies that the enemy whispers to people’s ears: 1. Everyone goes to a better place when they die; and 2. God never sends anyone to hell. “Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it” (Matthew 7:13-14). Both roads are marked “Road to Life.” But only the narrow road, the road that takes you straight through the cross of Jesus Christ, leads to life. “Jesus is ‘the stone you builders rejected, which has become the cornerstone.’ Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved” (Acts 4:11-12). The Apostle John describes the end of time, “I saw a Great White Throne and the One Enthroned. Nothing could stand before or against the Presence, nothing in Heaven, nothing on earth. And then I saw all the dead, great and small, standing there—before the Throne!... finished work of Jesus Christ on the cross. Jesus says, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me” (John 14:6).

The only way to heaven, to eternal life, is through the finished work of Jesus Christ on the cross. Jesus says, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me” (John 14:6). Only believers in Jesus Christ go to heaven. ~Lakan Jesus says, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me” (John 14:6).
