The Messenger WHAT IS BETTER James, one of the students, rang the bell at 5:40 am. One by one, the students stumbled to the dining/study room. Some of the men were trying their best to wake up, while Proscovia, the only girl, briskly walks in, very alert and ready for the day. I chuckle softly as some of the students--James first, then Peter, then Elli-- take turns going in to Tim's room trying to rouse him. I am so encouraged that John Elizabeth lead their students to start their day with the Lord Jesus. It is so easy to be convinced that we are so busy we do not have time to pray and to hear from the Lord through his word.
I thought about our risen Lord cooking breakfast on the shore of the Sea of Galilee and his simple invitation to his disciples, "Come, have breakfast with me" (John 21:12). And his response to Martha when Martha complained about her sister Mary sitting at the feet of the Lord instead of helping her in the kitchen: "Martha, Martha, you are worried and upset about many things but only one thing is needed. Mary has chosen what is better, and it will not be taken away from her" (Luke 10:41-42). Make sure you choose and do what is better. Don't miss breakfast with Jesus.
