The Messenger SAFE By Lakan Mariano “What are you looking for?” Kim asked after watching me frantically going from room to room in our house. My backpack was slung on my right shoulder and I held several books with my left arm against my chest. “My keys,” I said to Kim as I continued my search. I heard her giggle. I knew that giggle. So I stopped and looked at her quizzically. She was smiling broadly. “The keys are on your left hand.” One time I lost my phone for almost a week. That was not so bad. One of my recurring nightmares is that the singing part of the worship service ending and I could not find my Bible. I am so glad my salvation—the eternal life God gave me in Christ Jesus—is not something I can lose. Jesus said, “My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me. I give them ETERNAL life, and THEY SHALL NEVER PERISH; NO ONE WILL SNATCH THEM OUT of my hand. My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all; NO ONE CAN SNATCH THEM OUT of my Father’s hand. I and the Father are one” (John 10:27-30, emphasis mine). I am so thankful that the God who saved me is the God who makes sure that I will finish to the end. If it is up to me, my salvation, like my keys and my phone, will be lost. Not because I am forgetful, but because I am still sinful. “There has never been the slightest doubt in my mind that the God who started this great work in you would keep at it and bring it to a flourishing finish on the very day Christ Jesus appears” (Philippians 1:6, MSG). ~ Lakan
