The Messenger DON’T MISS GOD IN THE ORDINARY By Lakan Mariano God at times surprises us with sensational things-• Three missionaries in Southeast Asia who were poisoned at every meal and did not even get sick. • Our grandson Hayes who was being prepared to be transported to a children’s hospital after he was born because of his heart was all of a sudden fine. • Years ago, after suffering for three days with extreme pain on my right leg that rendered me almost immobile, I woke up one morning with no pain whatsoever. But if you are simply looking for the sensational, you might miss God. Most of our lives as believers in Jesus Christ are not lived out in the mountain-top but in the valleys. God was not only present with Peter, James, and John at the Mount of Transfiguration (Matthew 17) but He was also present with them in the most ordinary of things as having breakfast (John 21). If you know Christ as your savior and God, you can have the assurance that Jesus is with you always. The key to seeing Him in the ordinary times and the hard times is to simply trust His Word that He will never leave you nor forsake you (Hebrews 13:5), that He will be with you to the end of the age (Matthew 28:20), and that even if you walk through the hardest of times He is with you (Psalm 23:4). Then, like Moses, you can see Him who is invisible (Hebrews 11:27).
