The Messenger BETHSAIDA Buy Lakan Mariano Bethsaida. "House of fishing." A small fishing village north of the Sea of Galilee where five of Jesus' disciples-- two sets of brothers, Peter and Andrew, and James and John, and Philip-- came from. What a moving experience to walk on the same pathways that Jesus and his disciples probably walked on. What a joy to know that Jesus chooses his disciples, his followers, then and today, not by their pedigree, or because of their talents, but by his sovereign wisdom and will. Jesus said, "You did not choose me but I chose you to bear fruit that will last" (John 15:16). -Lakan
