The Messenger THE MAIN COURSE It is so easy to get distracted. One who is greater than the president of the United States is a guest at her house. He is in the living room talking to those gathered around Him. But Martha found something more important to do. “Martha was distracted by the big dinner she was preparing” (Luke 10:40). Ministry can be a distraction to what is really important. Being with Jesus is more important than doing things for Him. Being with Jesus is what allows us to do things for Him. I have known ministers and missionaries who are spiritually shriveling up because they are too busy to spend daily time with the Lord, or worship once a week with other believers. It is impossible to do anything for God without spending time with Him. It is so easy to miss Jesus' invitation: “Come have breakfast with Me” (John 21:12). Jesus said, “I stand at the door. I knock. If you hear me call and open the door, I’ll come right in and sit down to supper with you” (Revelation 3:20). When we are too busy to have breakfast or supper with Jesus, we miss so many precious moments in the ordinary things in life: changing your baby's diaper, laughter around the dinner table, coffee with your spouse, praying with friends. Many things in life are important. But as Jesus told Martha who complained about her sister just sitting listening to Jesus instead of helping her, “Martha, dear Martha, you’re fussing far too much and getting yourself worked up over nothing. One thing only is essential, and Mary has chosen it—It’s the main course, and won’t be taken from her” (Luke 10:41-42, MSG).-Lakan In This Issue From the Pastor AWANA Clubs Events & Upcoming Dates Ministry Opportunity Youth Ministries College Ministries Contact Information
