The Messenger NO PAYBACK It is silly to think that if someone gave you a big beautiful mansion worth gazillions of dollars you would be able to pay him back from the change in your pocket. The gift of salvation is like that. It is silly to think we can pay God back for sending His Son Jesus Christ to die on the cross for us. If you want to show your gratitude to God for all His blessings in your life, Psalm 116 gives us some ideas: 1. "I’ll lift high the cup of salvation—a toast to God!" (v. 13a, MSG). Appreciation for God and His blessings will ooze out of our life--our conversations, our thoughts, and all our interaction with other people.

2. "I’ll pray in the name of God" (v. 13b, MSG). I will be quick to the draw when it comes to prayer. It will not be positive thoughts I send someone, or a prayer to whichever god is out there. It will be directed to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. Christians don't snuggle with other gods. 3. "I’ll complete what I promised God I’d do" (v. 4a, MSG). If you committed to spend daily time with God, to be involved in a small group community, to tithe regularly, or to share Christ with friends and loved ones, gratitude for all of God's goodness drives us to fulfill those promises. Not just so we can keep those promises, but because we are recognizing that doing those things open us up for more of the joy we have and allow others to In This Issue From the Pastor join us in that joy. Gratitude and joy are two rivers that flow from the hearts of believers and gush out of us for God's praise. -Lakan

The Reformation is more than a fascinating period of history– it significantly impacted the formation of Western civilization. The questions reformers raised remain critical for the church today. Like the reformers, we must still discern what or who is our ultimate authority. Starting Monday, June 5th, we will be studying the history of the church. We would like for you to join us at 6 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall for this engaging class.

Join us for the experience of a lifetime! Your fabulous journey will take you to the very sited where the events of the Bible took place. Nothing can compare with seeing these for yourself. 12 full days of experiencing the history of the Land and People of the Bible.
