The Messenger TASTES OF GLORIOUS JOY The hardships of life are no fun at all. Hardships can be due to simply us being part of a fallen world. Or, for believers in Jesus Christ, they may be the result of God’s discipline. Either way, they are no fun at all. When times are tough, it’s hard to sing. And when we do sing, we sing sad songs.

But God doesn’t leave us in the pit of despair. For the Jewish exiles, He promised their return to Jerusalem. But His promise looked beyond their return to a future that is gloriously joyful. “The LORD will deliver Jacob... They will come and shout for joy on the heights of Zion; they will rejoice in the bounty of the LORD… they will be like a well-watered garden, and they will sorrow no more. Then young women will dance and be glad, young men and old as well. I will turn their mourning into gladness; I will give them comfort and joy instead of sorrow” (Jeremiah 31:11, 12, 13). Singing and dancing and rejoicing will be ours forever when Jesus returns. But believers in Jesus Christ don’t have to wait for the future to get a taste of that glorious joy. That glorious joy is yours today. “Though you have not seen Christ, you love Him. Though you do not now see Him, you believe in Him and rejoice with joy that is inexpressible and filled with glory” (1 Peter 1:8). This glorious joy will make you sing joyfully even when life is hard because you understand Jesus rules the universe and rules your life and He cares for you and loves you. And nothing, absolutely nothing, can separate you from the love of God that is Christ Jesus our Lord (Romans 8:39). -Lakan

The Messenger Join us for the experience of a lifetime! The Reformation is more than a fascinating period of history– it significantly impacted the formation of Western civilization. The questions reformers raised remain critical for the church today. Like the reformers, we must still discern what or who is our ultimate authority. Starting Monday, June 5th, we will be studying the history of the church. We would like for you to join us at 6 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall for this engaging class.

Your fabulous journey will take you to the very sites where the events of the Bible took place. Nothing can compare with seeing these for yourself. 12 full days of experiencing the history of the Land and People of the Bible. This is a fully customized tour and the group will be limited in size, so don’t wait! To register, or FMI, please contact Ken Sheppard at (214) 676-2931 or Lakan Mariano at (325) 374-2280.
