Vol. 7 Iss. 27
The Messenger THE CONNEL’S LAST SUNDAY WITH COLLEGE HILLS “What’s his name?” I asked Kira. Kira was one of our college students who had graduated from ASU and was then serving with Young Life ministry in Abilene. I asked her the question because I remembered Kira wearing oversized basketball shorts and t-shirts and tennis shoes most of her college years. The day I saw her, she was all made up, wearing a beautiful dress and even a more beautiful smile. I knew something was up. Kira blushed when I asked her the question. Not long after that I met Ryan at a Young Life banquet in Abilene. Then the next thing I knew, they were over at our house one day asking me to marry them. Then I was doing their wedding in Clyde. When the opening for student minister at our church opened up, there were two guys I thought of: one for but a second, then Ryan. He was actually the only one we seriously considered. That was a little over ten years ago. Ryan and Kira have poured out their hearts and their lives into the hearts and lives of our students and the church in general these last ten years. This Sunday is their last Sunday to be with us as they get ready to follow the Lord Jesus Christ in planting a church on the north side of San Angelo. This Sunday we are having a special service for Ryan and Kira and their family as we send them off to do God’s work. We are also having a “Thank You Banquet” for them immediately after the service.
