The Messenger Wednesday Noon Prayer Meeting 12:00 – 12:55 PM Fellowship Hall Starts September 6 The Loritab was not helping. I had pulled a muscle in my hip trying to get comfortable while sleeping on the plane. Kim and I were headed to London and Paris for our 25th anniversary. The throbbing pain kept me awake at night. I had to use both hands to pick up my right leg just to get over the shower ledge in the mornings. The night before we were to go to the Louvre in Paris, I prayed. I told the Lord it was Him who gave me a love for art. I told Him that I never imagined that He would give me the chance to visit the premier art museum in the world. Except I could barely walk because I had been in pain for four days. “Lord, please heal my hip.” I woke early the next morning and sat on the side of the bed. “That’s odd,” I thought as I tried to move my right leg and did not feel pain. I stood up and raised my leg with no pain. I screamed in excitement and woke Kim up. It was 4:30 in the morning! That day, I walked all over the Louvre until they were about to close and walked back the four miles to our hotel. I can look back at our life and see many times God answered our prayers in very specific ways. There were also times He did not answer some of our prayers, like when I asked Him to let Kim see Adrie be born. Adrie was born two days after Kim’s funeral. The Lord has taught us to trust Him enough that we were satisfied in knowing that He hears us, knows our needs, and does what is best for us. Prayer is much more than saying words. Prayer is talking to our loving Father in heaven, depending on Him, trusting Him, thanking Him. Prayer is expecting Him to act. And He loves to acts on behalf of His children.
