The Messenger Sermon Series on the Protestant Reformation Several people approached me and asked for last Sunday’s notes on the introduction to our Five Solas Sermon Series. I will have some copies available Sunday in the foyer.
If you stand before God today and you can see and smell the beauty and glories of heaven and at the same time smell the sulfur and feel the fires of hell licking at your feet, at the moment when you can either hear the Lord say, “Come, you who are blessed by my Father; take your inheritance, the kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world” (Matthew 25:34), Or,
“Depart from me, you who are cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels” (Matthew 25:41), What would be the basis of your confidence that you are saved? This issue was so confused and over a period of several hundreds of years. The Church’s teaching on it strayed so far from the Scriptures that God raised up men who called for a return to what the Bible says. This Sunday, we will look at a battle cry, a biblical pillar of the Protestant Reformation called Sola Fide, Faith Alone--that sinful, dead men are justified not by works but by faith alone. This is no mere historical interest but a biblical teaching so In This Issue important because what is at stake is the eternal destiny of From the Pastor AWANA Clubs loved ones and friends and all people.
