The Messenger Wednesday Noon Prayer Meeting 12:00 – 12:55 PM Fellowship Hall My heart broke when Kim told me the news. Our daughter Rachel had gone to the doctor when she was in college in Portales, New Mexico because of some health issues. The doctor did some tests and one of the tests showed that Rachel’s uterus is shaped odd and there was little chance that she can have babies. I still remember when Rachel was auditioning for a music scholarship at Eastern New Mexico University. One of the music professors asked her: “How do you envision yourself ten years from now?” Without hesitation, Rachel smiled and said, “Married and with at least one child.” Rachel had grown up admiring her mom. She has always wanted to be just like Kim. The prospect of not being able to have a child was devastating for her. And for all of us. So we did the most important thing we could do: pray, and ask God for his favor. Fast forward to today, exactly ten years from Rachel’s audition. Rachel and Cole have a very active almost three-year old son and a sweet ten-month old girl. In Rachel and Cole’s house hangs a painting that Rachel did with this scripture from 1 Samuel: “I prayed for this child, and the Lord has granted me what I asked of him” (1 Samuel 1:27). Not all our prayers are answered the way God answered our prayer for Rachel. But we can trust the goodness and the wisdom of our heavenly Father who wants us to always bring to him any and all our needs. God tells us,
