“Rocket” Readers Reading is vital for children to succeed in school and in life, but many of them struggle with reading. They often feel self-conscious and hate to read aloud in class. What better listener than a friendly, non-judgmental dog from the Heart of Texas Therapy Dog program? These programs are growing in libraries across the country and researchers report a rise in reading levels among participating children. Independent readers (grades 1-5) can bring a favorite book from home or choose one from the library, and read it to a furry friend while here at the library! “Rocket” Readers is conducted on a first-come, first-served basis.
