Registration can be completed online, in-person, or over the phone. Service fees apply for online registration and are non-refundable.

Senior Center Membership

Memberships are available to those 50 and over. Memberships are required for anyone participating in any senior class, program, or activity, or for anyone using the fitness room.

FITNESS CLASSES

Chair Pilates Plus

This class is designed to improve posture, strengthen your core, and work on muscle imbalances, spine mobility, and light strength training. The “Plus” means the exercises are geared towards functional movements for all adults 50 and up! Everyone will have a chair for standing and seated support. This class is for all fitness levels. Please bring a set of two or three pound hand weights, and wear comfortable clothes that allow for ease of movement and supportive athletic shoes.

Chair Yoga

Chair Yoga is a gentle form of yoga practiced in a chair. The class begins seated and moves to standing with or without using a chair for balance. Participants may choose to stay seated the entire time. Chair Yoga helps increase strength, flexibility, balance, and mind-body awareness. Research shows benefits may include lower levels of stress, anxiety, depression, blood pressure, cholesterol, and pain. No class Apr. 18.

FITNESS CLASSES SENIOR

Active Aging and Fun Fitness

Have fun and move to the music through various exercises designed to increase muscular strength, balance, range of motion, and spine mobility; all essentials to living an active, healthier lifestyle. We’ll work your heart with some gentle cardio, plus your facial muscles too, as we share a few laughs during class! Everyone will have a chair for standing and seated support. Senior Tai Chi

Tai Chi, also known as “meditation in motion,” is identified as one of the best exercises for seniors to maintain and improve balance while also helping to increase strength, flexibility, and stamina. As a low impact exercise, Tai Chi promotes mental and physical health. Starting with a warm up of standing stretches, the class will work on a standard form of slow movements that flow together seamlessly. Wear comfortable clothing and bring a water bottle. No class Jan. 20.

SENIOR CENTER FITNESS CLASSES

Tai Chi 2.0

In order to sign up for this class students need to know the basic Yang style forms and have a strong background in 24-form. The 2.0 class will focus on practicing and fine-tuning the 24-form as well as learning the 32-form or Tai Chi Fang. Wear loose or comfortable clothing as work on balance, energy, and flow is integral to the lessons. As always, it is good practice to bring a water bottle to stay hydrated. No class Jan. 20.

Qigong

Qigong is a combination of two Chinese words, “Qi” (Chi) which means life force or vital energy, and “gong” which means cultivation or practice. Qigong exercise focuses on harnessing and balancing the body’s vital energy to promote health and well-being. The class will focus on repetition of simple poses and low-impact movements in a way to strengthen muscles and improve overall fitness. Stationary poses and flowing postures help increase balance, energy, and flexibility. Because it is low impact and can be done sitting or standing, Qigong is suitable for all levels. Loose fitting or comfortable clothing and a water bottle are recommended.

Zumba Gold

Zumba Gold introduces easy-to-follow Zumba choreography that focuses on flexibility, muscular conditioning, balance, range of motion, and coordination. Participants must be able to walk without assistance for this class. Come ready to sweat to world rhythms, and prepare to leave empowered and feeling strong! Bring water and a sweat towel.

Yoga Flow

Each month begins by exploring the alignment of poses, breath work, and meditation. Class begins with warm-up poses that allow you to stretch deeper and ends with cooldown poses to release muscles, allowing a deep relaxation. Each class adds poses, creating a fun flow, synchronizing with each breath. The last class of each month will feature a Yin Yoga session. No experience necessary, class is designed to provide options for all levels.

Walking Club

Gather your friends and enjoy a way to get outside and get some steps in. A free, reusable water bottle is available for anyone who joins the club and the member that logs the most miles will win a prize at the end of the season. No meeting Jan. 20.

Texas Hold ‘Em Tournament

Contract Bridge Lessons

American Mah Jongg for Beginners

Learn how to play American Mah Jongg as governed by the National Mah Jongg League, Inc. In addition to the basics of the game, you will also learn best practices and proper etiquette. A Mah Jongg card is required for class and can be purchased at nationalmahjonggleague.org. After each lesson there will be time to put your new knowledge to work and play with other beginners.

Technology from ElderTech

ElderTech is a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping senior citizens navigate technology. They offer personalized tech support, question and answer sessions, and workshops to empower older adults with digital skills, enhancing their independence and connectivity in today’s digital world. Please bring your own device, charger, and technology questions. No class Jan. 20.

Silverado Education

Silverado Memory Care in Southlake is a world class memory care facility with a trademarked Nexus Program that can increase cognition by 60%. Silverado is the only memory care in the nation that has been accredited by Alzheimer’s Disease International for their dementia programs. Their entire staff is dementia certified and they have nurses on site 24/7. This series will provide educational presentations for those with loved ones or friends who are on their dementia journey, as well as for those who just want to prepare for the future. Snacks will be provided. Registration required.

NEST (Navigating Elderly Solutions Together) is a group of caring professionals with years of experience in their given professions. NEST is comprised of a placement agency, an assisted living/memory care community, a home care company, an elder law attorney, and a financial consultant. NEST has come together to help you and your loved ones navigate the “Golden Years.” They are dedicated to relieving stress, one family at a time, one decision at a time. AARP Smart Driver Course

Improve driving skills and be more aware of other drivers to ensure greater safety on the road. This course may be used to qualify for insurance discounts based on your insurance carrier’s business decisions; however, it cannot be used for dismissal of a ticket. Registration and a current driver’s license are required. Pay fees at the time of class with cash or a check. All instructional materials and certificates of completion are provided at the end of class.

Packing Light is Packing Right

Learn how to go from over packing to appropriate packing from Jackie Matthews, owner of Adventure Awaits World Travel. Healthy Carbohydrates by Texas A&M AgriLife Extension

Join Master Wellness Volunteer, Kathy Brewer, to learn how carbohydrates can be incorporated into a healthy meal plan. This four-part series dives into how carbohydrates work in the body, incorporating them into a simple plate, and finding your right amount. Each session will include information sharing, goal setting, and practical tips on adding carbohydrates into meals. Registration required.

Nutritional Education Seminar

Metroport Meals on Wheels

Enjoy coffee and treats in the morning. Lunch is served at noon, followed by bingo. Those 90 and over eat for free. Colleyville residents may register for each luncheon date the Monday the week before each date. Non-residents may register for each luncheon date the Monday the week of each date.

Valentine’s Day Celebration

Help us spread the love this year at the Valentine’s Day Celebration. Canned good donations will be accepted to benefit the GRACE Food Pantry. Door prize drawings will follow an ice cream social. Each attendee will receive two tickets to be used in the door prize drawings and one additional ticket per donated canned good. Donations are not required to attend. Registration required.

Progressive Tour with Bear Creek Nursing and Rehabilitation

Bear Creek Nursing and Rehabilitation will pick up from the Senior Center and stop at their active adult community, assisted living, and rehab community where resources, information, and refreshments will be provided. Registration required.

Sit and Stitch

Do you do needlepoint, cross stitch, ribbon embroidery, hand embroidery, beading, knitting, crochet, or anything with a needle in hand? If so, come sit and stitch each Tue. morning with fellow needleworkers. Beginner to advanced needleworkers are welcome. This is not an instructional class but rather an opportunity to wield needles in the presence of others; however, there is plenty of collective advice and knowledge to be shared for anyone who may need a helping hand.

Collette Trip Presentation

Discover Christmas Markets of Montreal and Quebec City. Join us for a presentation from Collette and learn about the upcoming trip to the Christmas Markets of Montreal and Quebec City. The trip will take place Nov. 30-Dec. 6, 2025. Highlights of this trip are Quebec City’s German Christmas Markets, Montreal’s Christmas Markets, Montmorency Falls, Maple Sugar Shack, and Bûche de Noël Workshop.

ART

Beginner Acrylic Painting

ART Z Art School will be offering acrylic painting for beginners or those wanting to get back into painting. Participants will learn about color mixing, blending, and layering while creating still life and landscape pieces. Supplies will be provided on the first day of class and a supply list will be given out to participants to bring their own supplies for the remainder of the session.
