WINTER READING CHALLENGE FOR KIDS

Kids ages 0-13 can cozy up and read all winter long at the library! To join the reading challenge, pick up your entry sheet at the Youth Services Desk beginning Monday, Jan. 13th.

Adults and Teens ages 13+ can complete the Winter Reading Challenge and utilize many of the ways that the Library can help keep you cozy all winter long!

To participate, pick up your entry form at the Help Desk and complete EIGHT of the listed activities. Turn in the completed form to receive a cozy Colleyville mug (while supplies last)! One prize per participant.

Follow the story pages around the plaza to find what happens during this year’s Valentine Storywalk®. Each story board has a different activity to encourage comprehension skills and enhance the fun! Optional activity sheets are available at the first sign by the fountain. REGISTRATION OPENS FOR CHILDREN’S PROGRAMMING

Enjoy stories, crafts, and fun activities during the Library’s programs. Registration opens Monday, January 6th at 10:00 a.m. Registration is open to all Library card holders. Programs are available for newborns through age 15 and last for twelve weeks. Space is limited, so register early. Preference will be given to Colleyville residents; non-residents will be notified if space is available. To register, go to ColleyvilleLibrary.com. Under PROGRAMS & EVENTS, click on the CALENDAR link. Find the class that you want to register for then click on the REGISTER button. Caregivers must fill out one registration form per child.

**PLEASE NOTE**: Submission of a story time registration form DOES NOT guarantee the child a spot in the class. Registration requests will be processed as quickly as possible in the order they are received. A staff member will call or email all story time registrants to confirm whether there is a spot available in the class.

Homeschool Junior uses STEAM-related concepts to create a super fun experience! Demonstrations, fun activities and art exploration will keep your kiddos engaged. A book associated with the lesson’s theme is read most weeks. This is an entertaining yet educational supplement to the regular homeschool day.

POKÉMON ADVENTURE CLUB

Calling all Pokémon Trainers! Children in Grades 1st-5th are invited to join the ultimate Pokémon adventure! Test your knowledge with exciting trivia, challenge friends to strategi card battles, and enjoy the company of fellow trainers as yo trade and explore the world of Pokémon together. Players are highly encouraged to bring their own cards, but a limited number of basic cards will be available for in-library use. It’s the perfect place for Pokémon fans to compete, connect, and have fun!

PAWS TO READ

Dogs can be some of your best friends, as well as some of the best listeners! Kids can practice reading out loud to one of the dogs from the Heart of Texas Therapy Dogs program. Children grade 1-5 can bring a book from home or grab one at the library and read it to a furry friend.

During this fun and easy 90-minute workshop, parents and their children (ages 5-10 years old) interact with each other to learn essential communication skills, make better decisions and effectively manage emotions.
