Winter Reading Club “Check Meowt!” Rock n’ Roll over to the Library for the Winter Reading Club beginning Jan. 15. Sign up at the Youth Services desk and receive your punch card and book bag. The Club runs for 12 weeks, ending Saturday, April 7.

Who may enter?

The program is open to children ages 0-12 years.

How does it work?

Starting on Monday, Jan. 15, children can begin tracking the number of books they check out and receive a sneaker to add to the Groovy Reader Wall. All materials must be checked out from the Colleyville Public Library. Books must be kept at least one night.

Hours: Monday and Wednesday 10:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m.

How do I count my reading?

Reading will be counted by book titles. 5 books = 1 sneaker to add to the Groovy Reader Wall and an entry into the Grand Prize Drawing! Children who check out books once a week for 10 out of the 12 week session will receive a cool prize. Keep track of check outs with the punch card attached to the bag received at registration. Punches are received at the circulation counter.

REGISTRATION OPENS FOR STORY TIMES AND PROGRAMS Enjoy stories, crafts, and fun activities at the library during story time. Registration is open to all library card holders. Space is limited, so register early. Preference will be given to Colleyville residents; non-residents will be notified if a spot is available. Story times and programs are available for newborns through grade 5 and last for 12 weeks. Chess Club is open to ages 8-15. Registration opens Monday, January 8th at 10:00 a.m. and can be done either in person or online. To register online, go to ColleyvilleLibrary.com. Under SEARCH THE LIBRARY, click on the CALENDAR link. Find the class that you want to register for then click on the REGISTER button. Caregivers must fill out one registration form per child. **PLEASE NOTE**: Submission of a story time registration form DOES NOT guarantee the child a spot in the class. Registration requests will be processed as quickly as possible in the order they are received. A staff member will call or email all story time registrants to confirm whether there is a spot available in the class. The Colleyville Public Library makes an effort to include as many children as possible in program activities that our safety and staffing guidelines allow.

CHESS CLUB

“ROCKET” READERS

From beginner to expert, chess players of all levels are welcome. No previous knowledge of chess is required.

Reading is vital for children to succeed in school and in life, but many of them struggle with reading. What better listener than a friendly, non-judgmental dog from the Heart of Texas Therapy Dogs program? These programs are growing in libraries across the country and researchers report a rise in reading levels among participating children. Independent readers (grades 1-5) can bring a favorite book from home or choose one from the library, and read it to a furry friend while here at the library! “Rocket” Readers is conducted on a first-come, first-served basis.
