READ Y’ALL! Colleyville Public Library is rounding up readers of all ages to participate in the 2022 western-themed summer reading program, “Read Y’all!” Registration opens Monday, May 23rd. The Summer Reading Program is open to children, teens, and adults. Those ages 12 and under are considered to be in the children’s category; teens are ages 12-17; adults are 18 and over. How does it work?

Starting on Monday, May 23, participants can begin tracking the number of books they read or the number of minutes they read. • Register May 23 through Friday, July 22 • All materials must be checked out from the Colleyville Public Library. • Books must be kept at least one night. • Keep all book checkout receipts and bring them in when claiming a prize How do I count my child’s reading? Reading can be counted by book titles or by time. • Title log (10 books) • Time log (5 hours) For participants counting by book titles, every book you read earns 10 points. If tracking by hours, every hour read earns 20 points. Choose

one system to track your reading and earn 100 points to receive a prize and be eligible for our Grand Prize Drawing. The more you read, the more chances you have to win! What kind of reading counts for children?

Read or listen to a book, e-book, audiobook, or attend teen or adult programs.

What are the prizes for children? For children, the first prize for reading ten books or for five hours includes: a prize bag, coupons from local vendors, and one automatic entry into the grand prize drawing. The first 200 participants to complete their first 10 books, five hours or 100 points will also receive a complementary kids pass to NRH2O Family Water Park! While supplies last. Prizes for each subsequent 100 points earned will be determined by a spin of the prize wheel! Prizes earned can be claimed by presenting reading logs and receipts at the Reader Round-Up Prize Room, during regular library hours. The last day to claim a prize is July 23rd.

What are the prizes for teens and adults? The Adult Summer Reading Program is designed for ages 18+ and the Teen Summer Reading Program is for ages 12 to 17. Every book you read earns an entry into our weekly prize drawings. After five books, participants will receive a Summer Reading T-Shirt and will be eligible for our Grand Prize Drawing. The more books you read, the more chances you have to win! The first weekly prize drawing will take place on Monday, June 6th. The last day to turn in entry forms is Saturday, July 23rd.

REGISTRATION OPENS FOR CHILDREN’S PROGRAMMING Enjoy stories, crafts, and fun activities during the library’s story times. Registration is open to all library card holders. Programs are available for newborns through grade 5 and last for seven weeks. Space is limited, so register early. Preference will be given to Colleyville residents; non-residents will be notified if a spot is available. EXPLORATORIUM

Preschool Pals is a fun, family story time, featuring five early literacy practices: talking, singing, reading, writing and playing. Each week kids will enjoy themed books, songs, finger plays and crafts. Parents are encouraged to sing, dance and play along!

Join us this summer as we travel through the Texas Wild. This STEAMbased class will explore armadillos, snakes, cacti and more! Regular attendance is recommended for the entire summer.

“ROCKET” READERS Reading is vital for children to succeed in school and in life, but many of them struggle with reading. What better listener than a friendly, non-judgmental dog from the Heart of Texas Therapy Dogs program? These programs are growing in libraries across the country and researchers report a rise in reading levels among participating children. Independent readers (grades 1-5) can bring a favorite book from home or choose one from the library, and read it to a furry friend while here at the library!
