WINTER STORYWALK® Follow the numbered story pages around the plaza to find what happens when pets, Oscar and Daisy, go unleashed in the library’s latest Storywalk® adventure, Snow Friends by Margery Cuyler. Each story board has a different activity to encourage comprehension skills and enhance the fun! Optional activity sheets are available at the first sign by the fountain. Participants may turn in their completed activity sheet to the library circulation desk for a prize and a second treat will be awarded for finding the ten pictures of playful pups hiding around the plaza.

WINTER READING CLUB “Snow is Falling, Books are Calling!”

FAMILY ART

Drift on over to the library for the Winter Reading club beginning January 18. Sign up at the Youth Services or Circulation Desk and receive your punch card and book bag. The club runs for 12 weeks, ending Saturday, April 9.

It’s a Wrap

April in Wonderland

Twist, wrap and wind colorful wooly fibers to craft cozy winter art.

Oversize flowers, painted stone miniatures and totem towers to brighten your garden.

Who may enter? The program is open to children ages 0-12 years. How does it work? Starting on Tuesday, January 18, children can begin tracking the number of books they check out and receive a decal to add to the Snowtastic Reader Wall. • All materials must be checked out from the Colleyville Public Library. • Books must be kept at least one night. How do I count my reading? Reading will be counted by book titles. • 5 books = 1 decal to add to the Snowtastic Reader Wall and an entry into the Grand Prize Drawing! • Children who check out books once a week for 10 out of the 12-week long session will receive a cool prize. • Keep track of check outs with the punch card attached to the bag received at registration. • Punches are received at the circulation counter. What kind of reading counts for children? • Reading a book

Community art suitable for all ages. Technique for adults and teens, creative fun for kids and sensory exploration for little ones.

REGISTRATION OPENS FOR STORY TIMES AND PROGRAMS Enjoy stories, crafts and fun activities at the library during story time. Registration is open to all library card holders. Space is limited, so register early. Preference will be given to Colleyville residents; non-residents will be notified if a spot is available. Story times and programs are available for newborns through grade 5 and last for twelve weeks. Chess Club is open to ages 8-15. Registration: Available in person or online at ColleyvilleLibrary.com. Registration opens Monday, January 10th at 10:00 a.m. and can be done either in person or online. Each program runs for twelve (12) weeks. Please plan to attend most classes, in order to ensure maximum benefit for both your child and the class community. To register online, go to ColleyvilleLibrary.com. Click on PROGRAMS & EVENTS and then click the CALENDAR link. Find the class that you want to register for then click on the REGISTER button. Caregivers must fill out one registration form per child. **PLEASE NOTE**: Submission of a story time registration form DOES NOT guarantee the child a spot in the class. Registration requests will be processed as quickly as possible in the order they are received. A staff member will call or email all story time registrants to confirm whether there is a spot available in the class. The Colleyville Public Library makes an effort to include as many children as possible in program activities that our safety and staffing guidelines allow.

EXPLORATORIUM

Time with Tots is a fun, family story time for 3-year-olds, featuring five early literacy practices: talking, singing, reading, writing and playing. Parents are encouraged to sing, dance and play along!

Exploratorium features fun science experiments, awesome hands-on activities, art projects, literature and more for early elementary students. Regular attendance is recommended for the entire semester.

“ROCKET” READERS Reading is vital for children to succeed in school and in life, but many of them struggle with reading. What better listener than a friendly, non-judgmental dog from the Heart of Texas Therapy Dogs program? These programs are growing in libraries across the country and researchers report a rise in reading levels among participating children. Independent readers (grades 1-5) can bring a favorite book from home or choose one from the library, and read it to a furry friend while here at the library!
