Fall Volleyball League The league is designed to introduce young ladies to the game of volleyball. It was created to provide a safe, fun environment to learn the basic premises of the game through practices, teaching the fundamental volleyball skills, sport ethics, and league competition. A team will consist of a minimum of 8 players and maximum of 12 players. Teams will practice an hour each week. Players will receive a team t-shirt. Registration can be completed online or in person. To register, the team coach must contact the Recreation Department at 817.503.1180 with their team information. At that time, the coach will be given a team code to give to their team to register. Signing up as an individual or a free agent does not guarantee your child a spot on a team. A coach will have to volunteer in order for a team of free agents to be formed. If and when a coach volunteers, a staff member will contact individuals with team information. If you would like to coach, please call 817.503.1180 for more details. Evolution Academy Join us for this week long soccer camp for players born 2011 to 2016. Open to all players, especially those involved in or interested in academy soccer. This camp will be a fun and intense introduction to Evo! Players will be working on balance and coordination, techniques for dribbling, passing, shooting, and defending, with scrimmages and skills challenges, and capped off by the popular small sided World Cup competition. The structured daily curriculum will cover dribbling, passing, shooting, and defending. Goalkeepers will work on shot stopping, reactions, crosses, long balls, scrimmage situations, and tactics. Junior Police Academy The Colleyville Police Department’s Junior Police Academy is a great opportunity for the youth of Colleyville to learn what it takes to be a police officer. During this one week mini academy, the students will gain knowledge of some of the functions their local law enforcement professionals perform on a daily basis. The students will learn pertinent information that can affect them in their community. Officers of the Colleyville Police Department provide the students instruction on many different facets of the police profession, including traffic stops, handling crime scenes, SWAT operations, and conducting building searches. There will be a maximum of 16 students, mask policy, and social distancing will be implemented. A written recommendation from a school official (teacher, principal, etc.) or a community leader (a coach, a pastor, etc.) and parental permission slip must be turned in to Officer Amy Beregszaszy at aberegszaszy@colleyville.com by Fri., Jun. 11. In Snapology’s Drone Commander Camp, students will be introduced to the world of Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) and develop a deep understanding how to control and manage this exciting technology. In this summer camp your student will learn about the types of UAVs, the parts needed for controlled flight, the forces of flight, basic drone safety, and a variety of flying maneuvers. My First Business – Lemonade Stand

Chess Wizards Say yes to chess! Join Chess Wizards for an interactive, scholastic program where kids will collaborate, gain confidence, improve chess skills, meet new friends, and work out their most powerful muscle – their brains! Appropriate for beginner to intermediate chess players, our program includes instruction in tactics, strategy, and individual game play. Daily breaks are built in for snacks, games, and plain old running around! All students will receive a trophy, puzzle folder, and wizards t-shirt. Come join the fun! Snapology Engineering Does your child love to tinker and create new things, or are they the kind of learner who likes to break things apart to see what’s inside? If so, they are going to love Snapology’s Engineering program! This program gives your student the tools they need to understand mechanical movement and the importance of simple machines. They will see these moving parts up close as they follow instructions to build various machines and contraptions, then use the models to develop new design ideas, test out physics concepts, and even play games with their classmates. Whether they are the creative constructive type or prefer the inquisitive deconstructive way of learning, this program is sure to spark their engineering interests! In Snapology’s Amusement Park Engineering class, students will become engineers of their own amusement park rides and will learn the core physics and engineering concepts used to make a ride thrilling! Pavilions that are available for rent are City Park, Colleyville Nature Center, Kimzey Park, McPherson Park, and Sparger Park. Rentals include picnic tables. The Colleyville Nature Center is the only pavilion with a grill. Line Dancing Beginner class is for students with previous dance experience. Students should be capable of learning basic steps: grapevine, chasse, jazz box, etc. Routines up to 48 counts may include rhythms like Waltz or Cha Cha and tempos are slow to moderate. Improver/Intermediate students need previous dance experience and basic skills. Confused by Medicare? Whether you are aging into Medicare this year or are already enrolled, come to this complimentary workshop which will cover part A, B, C, and D of this government health benefit that can be quite confusing. Come and learn more about the basics and intricacies of Medicare at this session which will be hosted by Matt Curry, a licensed insurance agent. Topics to be covered include the differences between basic government Medicare, Medicare Supplements, Medicare Advantage Plans, Part D drug plans, and former employer supplemental coverage available to some participants. This is an educational event so no need to bring your checkbook. This event is for you to relax and ask questions to be better informed about your choices.
