Converting the former Covenant Church into a Recreation Center is underway. Phase one will consist of the renovation of the main worship space being transformed into a large gymnasium. The gym will contain multiple basketball and volleyball courts to provide for a variety of recreation programming opportunities. Phase one is scheduled to be completed by the summer of 2024.

MEET THE TEAM

Lisa Escobedo Director of Parks and Recreation

Lisa joined the Colleyville team in November 2012. Hailing from New Mexico, Lisa played basketball at Rice University. In her free time she likes to attend country music concerts and sporting events. With decades of parks and recreation experience, Lisa oversees the Parks and Recreation Department. What she enjoys most about her job is seeing our residents enjoy all of the park amenities.

Brittany Strickland Recreation Supervisor

Brittany joined the Colleyville team in December 2014. She was born and raised in Irving, where she started her recreation career at the age of 18. Her experience has included coordinating summer camps, after-school programs, leagues, and special events. Her free time is filled with sport practices for her oldest son while she chases her youngest around. Brittany will oversee the daily operations of the new Recreation Center.

Ralph Alvarez Recreation Specialist

Ralph joined the Colleyville team in September 2023. His recreation background includes coordinating recreation events, special interest groups, and outdoor programming. Ralph spends his spare time playing pickleball and sand volleyball, cycling, or knocking a National Park off his bucket list. He is responsible for multigenerational programming and special events.

Elisha Davis Recreation Specialist

Elisha joined the Colleyville team in October 2023. His recreation background includes active adult programming, therapeutic recreation, and summer camps. Outside of work, he spends quality time with his wife and two girls or playing sports with friends. Elisha is responsible for coordinating sport leagues, camps, and classes. RECREATION EVENTS Winter Ball Winter Ball 2024 presents a candy land themed dance for mothers and sons (or mother figures) and fathers and daughters (or father figures). Activities will include a deejay, professional photos, gift bags, and lots of fun. Dessert and refreshments will be served. Clean Sweep The event will include the classic five stations: crud cruiser, electronics recycling, document shredding, bulk/brush trash, and tire recycling. Concerts in the Plaza

Start your engines and join us for Colleyville’s annual Colleyville Car Show! There will be free food, free coffee, and free fun for all ages as well as new award categories, prizes, and swag. You won’t want to miss this free event!

Evolution Spring Break Camp This week-long camp, presented by the Evolution coaching staff, is focused on fun and solid soccer fundamentals for ages U4-U15. Each camper will receive an Evo jersey. Youth Volleyball League Spring Season The league is designed to introduce youth to the game of volleyball. It was created to provide a safe, fun environment to learn the game through practices, teaching the fundamental volleyball skills, sport ethics, and league competition. A team will consist of 8-12 players. Teams will practice for one hour a week. The league will have eight weeks of regular season games, played on Saturdays, followed by a single elimination tournament. Players will receive a jersey. Team t-shirts are available at registration for $15 each. Team Registration: Coaches must contact the Parks and Recreation Department to provide their team information, book a practice time, and set up a team code. The team code is required for registration. Free Agent Registration: Free agent players will be placed on a team based on information provided at registration, if and when a coach volunteers. If you would like to volunteer to coach, please contact the Parks and Recreation Department. Staff will email practice and team details once a free agent player has been placed on a team. If staff is unable to place a free agent player on a team, a refund will be provided. Service fees assessed online are non-refundable. Jo-Ann’s Little Dancers Jo-Ann’s Little Dancers equips children with basic art and dance techniques. Soccer Shots Soccer Shots is an engaging children’s soccer program with a focus on character development. Girls on the Run Girls on the Run is an afterschool youth development program for girls in 3rd-8th grade. Our mission is to inspire girls to be joyful, healthy, and confident using a fun, experience-based curriculum which creatively integrates movement and running. Through thought-provoking discussion and fun activities, Girls on the Run uplifts and empowers girls in our community and prepares them to become the leaders of tomorrow. Our programs unlock life skills through curricula that inspires confidence and weaves physical activity (that is accessible to all girls) into thought-provoking lessons. In addition, our program offers girls a tangible sense of achievement by helping them set goals for the end-of-season 5K scheduled for Apr. 27 and gets girls involved in handson community impact projects. Now more than ever, girls need opportunities to develop skills in cooperation and collaboration. Girls need to feel supported in identifying and expressing their emotions and need to be equipped with the ability to create and foster strong, healthy relationships with their peers. Yoga Flow Each month begins by exploring the alignment of poses, breath work, and meditation. Class begins with warm-up poses that allow you to stretch deeper and ends with cool-down poses to release muscles, allowing a deep relaxation. Pavilion Rentals

Pavilions that are available for rent are City Park, Colleyville Nature Center, Kimzey Park, McPherson Park, and Sparger Park. Rentals include picnic tables. The Colleyville Nature Center is the only pavilion with a grill. Reservations can be made online at www.colleyvilleparksandrec.com.
