Each edition of the Parisian Haute Couture Fashion Week always welcomes new fashion designers. Among the new entries, there are a number of brands that all have some special connotation in their ways of being different. Guest members, par excellence: Francesco Scognamiglio - Italian fashion designer with a romantic touch, who loves to play with transparencies - J.Mendel furs, unprecedented in the sector - Yuima Nakazato, Japanese aimed at research - Iris Van Herpen, a return, and a surprise - the Vetements collective brand with, at its helm, Demna Gvasalia, newly appointed to the Balenciaga creative team, a name on everyone’s lips, Giles Deacon, and, finally, Alberta Ferretti presents her highly refined Limited Edition. Absolutely new: the Blossom trade show, where top level firms in textile production wait for creators to show them their Fall/Winter 2017/18 Collections. Why so much interest in High Fashion? A truly small segment of the industry, but one that moves millions in turnover. Perhaps since the atelier is the one and only place where stylists feel at ease in expressing their creativity and their professional skills and, not least, since haute couture creations have the absolute mission to exalt female beauty. An event full of promise to experience together. News that is not direct, but timely, from the pages of our Haute Couture Collezioni&Sposa - Collections & Bridal - magazine.
Ogni edizione dell’Haute Couture Fashion Week parigina accoglie nuovi fashion designer, fra le new entry ecco una serie di brand che hanno tutti, nel loro essere diversi, qualche connotazione speciale. Guest member importanti: Francesco Scognamiglio, stilista italiano dal tocco romantico, che ama i giochi di trasparenze, il brand di pellicce J.Mendel eccellenza nel settore, Yuima Nakazato, giapponese rivolto alla ricerca, Iris Van Herpen (un ritorno) e a sopresa il brand collettivo Vetements, che alla guida trova Demna Gvasalia, appena nominato alla direzione creativa di Balenciaga, un nome sulla bocca di tutti. Giles Deacon e infine Alberta Ferretti, che presenta la sua raffinatissima Limited Edition. Novità assoluta: Blossom, un appuntamento fieristico, dove il top level della produzione di tessuti, aspetta i creatori per mostrare loro le collezioni autunno/invero 2017/18. Ma perchè tanto interesse verso l’Alta Moda, un davvero piccolo segmento del settore, che però muove fatturati milionari? Forse perchè l’atelier è il vero, unico luogo dove uno stilista si sente a suo agio per esprimere la propria creatività e le sue capacità professionali, e non ultimo perchè le creazioni dell’alta sartoria hanno come mission assoluta l’esaltare la bellezza femminile. aris, 20 Place Vendôme: the new prestigious address of Van Cleef & Arpels, recently added to its historic salons already present on the square since 1906, is the perfect setting for the presentation of Émeraude en Majesté, the new superb, extremely elegant and iconic collection entirely dedicated to a gem that has always been deeply tied to the history and rich heritage of the Maison: His Majesty the emerald. The jewels are authentic waterfalls of green stones, a total of approximately 1400 carats, obtained from the most prestigious mines in the world: from Colombia originate the most precious specimens ever, the deep, velvety greens of Muzo, Chivor and Cosquez. From Zambia, the new great producer, gems characterized by its vivacious, extremely transparent green, or those mined in the most remote region of the Panjshir, in Afghanisthan, very rare gems often similar to the Colombian crystals, by perfect color saturation, unfortunately obtained in small quantities due to the extreme altitude of the mines or for the great political instability in the area. Patiently assembled over the years by the Maison with the spirit of a very keen collector, waiting to be set on the most sophisticated parures, these green beauties, with their ancestral charm, find now their most perfect sertissages on these exclusive jewels. An enchanting necklace, transformable to be worn in several ways, is designed as two delicate ribbons set with round and baguette-cut diamonds, softly paired and knotted on the décolleté: they hold two super gadrooned cabochon emerald drops of the most perfect grassgreen hue, set on a diamonds négligé motif. Thanks to their particular engraving technique, they bears the lure of the fabulous emeralds once set on the historic jewels of the most sophisticated Indian Maharajahs or of those created by Van Cleef & Arpels for the elegant Princess Faiza of Egypt in the Thirties and later on for HRH Princess Salimah, the sublime Begum Aga Khan IV, member of the best Jet-set during the ‘70s. With great elegance and absolute class, a third drop hangs on the nape, adding a refined note to the jewel, dangling from a cartouche made of baguettes, a detail so iconic of the Maison since ever, here conceived with unexpected metamorphose effects.
In fact, the drop on the back can be moved to the front of the necklace, the two main emeralds of the pendant can be detached and replaced with precious pearl tassels or attached to an exquisite circular Art Déco-style diamond clip: perfect if pinned high on the shoulder or worn at the very end of plunging necklines or, why not, as a refined clasp to embellish stunning evening clutches or to highlight the drapé effects on the waist of linear, precise little black dresses. High Jewelry meets so perfectly here with Haute Couture, reinforcing a bond always considered indissoluble by Van Cleef & Arpels, in a so unique performance of style, rare to admire. Some pieces are the elegant reinterpretation of classic aesthetics, very Vendôme. Others are more daring, with generous yet refined shaped, sometimes sublimated by color combinations with black enamel, pearls or sapphires, while others are more naturalistic and floral, a beloved inspiration, part of the creative DNA of the Maison since its beginnings. The hinged Twist bracelet, shaped like a torque, is magnificent with its torchon workmanship. Completely paved with diamonds at the base of the wrist, then to gradually embrace it pairing rows of diamonds to others set with the delicate violet hue of precious mauve sapphires, arranged in a spiral of subtle nuances. On the upper part of the wrist, barely hold by curly oriental motifs in diamonds, two superb oval cabochon emeralds by the most perfect jardin, the natural inclusions that all emeralds naturally possess, almost touch each other in a masterful toi et moi duet. This wirlwind of magnificent green gems is inebriating, never tiring to the eye, fascinated by the variety and intensity of these perfect shades, sort of little jungles made jewels. As Federico Garcia Lorca wrote in one of his celebrated poem: Verde que te quiero verde! Van Cleef & Arpels seems to have perfectly interpreted the verses of the great Spanish author by creating this unique collection. One that certainly will remain in the annals of the Maison for the quality and rarity of these sublimes Pierres de Caractère, for the incredible craftmanship of its workshops and for its very famous Mains d’Or, the irreplaceable master craftmen and goldsmiths who jealously hand down the art and the beauty of the purest Parisian Haute Joaillerie.

From yesteryear lingerie, timid lace appliqués trim necklines, and then petals of imaginary flowers. An infinite flowerbed.
