FLIRTY FRILLS ANDREA MONDIN Exquisite cuts and drapery are the “trademark” of creativity according to Andrea Mondin, a talented young designer who in the Autumn/Winter 2019-20 collection elevates this type of workmanship to the point where it becomes an origami couture technique. The exquisitely made in Italy leathers, selected for their versatility, are artfully folded so as to take the form of fans, ruffles and box pleats. The leather itself, therefore, is manipulated and shaped in order to become a proper decorative element of the shoe.

Tagli squisiti e drappeggi sono il “marchio di fabbrica” della creatività secondo Andrea Mondin, giovane designer di talento che nella collezione Autunno/Inverno 2019-20 sublima questo tipo di lavorazione fino a farla diventare una tecnica di origami couture. I pellami, squisitamente made in Italy e selezionati per la loro versatilità, vengono ripiegati ad arte in modo da assumere la forma di ventagli, ruches e pieghe a cannone. La pelle stessa, dunque, viene manipolata e plasmata fino a divenire essa stessa l’elemento decorativo della calzatura.

VIVETTA Irony and a certain amount of surrealism, combined with a nostalgic retro taste, are the ingredients behind the success of the Vivetta brand. The ready-to-wear collection is accompanied by a range of frivolous and fun accessories, entirely akin to the spirit of designer Vivetta Ponti. The ankle boots, finished with fabric ruffles and vintage-style floral embroidery, feature wooden heels that resemble grandma’s dresser; leather gloves with flounces along the wrists are perfect to play “la grande dame”, showing off red lacquered nails as a glam detail.

Lotto is one of the great Italian names in sports and leisure shoes. Since the seventies we have seen them on the feet of the great tennis players on the Wimbledon courts (we remember them on the feet of John Newcombe, eight times winner of the great English tournament), Roland Garros and other tournaments around the world.

Today, after a decidedly successful revival, the brand manages to combine models inspired by the Seventies but also some contemporaries and, why not, the animal print model for those who want a bit of glamour. Always.

Lotto è uno dei grandi nomi italiani per quanto riguarda le scarpe per lo sport e il tempo libero. TRE NUOVE LINEE DA NON PERDERE FIRMATE PUMA

Sneakers are more than just a trend, they are real obsession that has impressed everyone, everywhere in the world. Gone are the days in which career women wore sneakers when they left the house and then changed them and showed off their stilettos when they entered the office, today the sneaker is chosen as a model to use every day, even on the most unusual formal occasions (let’s think back to years ago, when some pop singers matched them with a tux, to general dismay). The craze for sneakers is global and so is the one for the capsule collections from the sports world. So it is a phenomenon that affects both the fashion houses (which offer their models) and brands who have always specialised in sports clothing and footwear. Puma, a brand boasting almost one hundred years of history, is actually offering three different lines for the current season in addition to the classic one with the flying feline. Let’s start with the Puma Cell Alien Og, the revolutionary model from the nineties, which paved the way for futuristic sneakers, and which is now re-proposed with even higher technology. Next, the Puma Storm.Y model, designed for women only and with a silhouette that combines street style with the sporting DNA of the brand. Last but not least, there is Cara Delevingne’s capsule collection with the Cell Stellar model, whose design recalls that of Cell Alien but with a more feminine aesthetic. Three not to be missed collections.

Quella delle sneaker è più di una semplice tendenza, è una vera e propria ossessione che ha colpito tutti, in ogni luogo del mondo. Sono passati i tempi in cui le donne in carriera indossavano le scarpe da ginnastica quando uscivano di casa per poi cambiarle e sfoggiare il tacco a stiletto per entrare in ufficio, oggi la sneaker è scelta come modello da usare tutti i giorni, anche nelle occasioni più formali (ricordiamo ancora quando, anni fa, qualche cantante pop le abbinava allo smoking con sommo sconcerto generale). La mania per le sneaker è globale e altrettanto lo è quella per le capsule collection del mondo sportivo. Quindi un fenomeno che colpisce sia le maison (che propongono i loro modelli) che i brand da sempre specializzati in abbigliamento e calzature sportive. Puma, marchio con quasi cento anni di storia, per la stagione corrente propone addirittura tre diverse linee oltre a quella classica con il felino rampante. Cominciamo con la Puma Cell Alien Og, il modello rivoluzionario degli anni Novanta, che ha spianato la strada alle sneaker futuristiche e che ora è riproposto con una tecnologia ancora superiore. A seguire il modello Puma Storm.Y, pensato per il solo pubblico femminile e con una silhouette che combina lo street style e il DNA sportivo del marchio. Infine, ma non meno interessante, c’è la capsule collection di Cara Delevingne con il modello Cell Stellar, il cui design richiama quello delle Cell Alien ma con un’estetica più femminile.

LE DIVERSE FACCE DI UN’ARTE ANTICA, PIÙ CHE MAI CONTEMPORANEA

A new meeting has been added to the calendar of events in Milan for next autumn, one which is not limited to the involvement of sector operators, but aims to bring the whole city closer to the world of jewellery. From October 24th to 27th the first edition of Milano Jewelry Week will take place, a circuit that currently counts 50 events within high-end jewellery ateliers, workshops, academies, schools, art galleries, fashion boutiques and design showrooms in the city centre. The history and technique of the goldsmith’s art will be introduced and described according to different paths that aim to demonstrate the timelessness of this art through a series of group and personal exhibitions, workshops, performances, prize-giving evenings and temporary shops, offering to visitors a fascinating, yet accessible, picture of what can be called the first female accessory in history. Among the group exhibitions, an important role will be played by Artistar Jewels 2019, an international event dedicated to the body ornament; special guest is Gianni De Benedittis with his new SS/2020 collection, Carnivorous, designed for futuroRemoto.

Nel calendario degli eventi milanesi del prossimo autunno si aggiunge un nuovo momento d’incontro che non si limita a coinvolgere gli operatori del settore, ma si propone di far avvicinare tutta la città al mondo del gioiello. Dal 24 al 27 ottobre avrà luogo la prima edizione della Milano Jewelry Week, un circuito che conta al momento 50 eventi all’interno di atelier di alta gioielleria, laboratori, accademie, scuole, gallerie d’arte, boutiques di moda e showroom di design nel centro della città. La storia e la tecnica dell’arte orafa verranno introdotte e raccontate secondo diversi percorsi che si propongono di dimostrare l’atemporalità di quest’arte attraverso una serie di mostre collettive e personali, workshop, performance, serate di premiazione e temporary shop, offrendo ai visitatori un’immagine affascinante, quanto accessibile, di quello che può essere definito il primo accessorio femminile della storia. ULTRALIGHT SALVATORE FERRAGAMO The exclusive “Gancini” emblem is recovered from the archives of the Maison, the protagonist of many collections of accessories from the past, from jewellery to footwear, to bags. The decorative metal detail overlaps the big lenses to enhance the brightness of their nuances, with double and triple shades ranging from smoky to champagne, from bronze to powder blue, to soft pink for the most glamorous outfits. The oversized front part is contrasted by the thin metal arms, which feature the classic Salvatore Ferragamo engraved logo and the unmistakable round end piece.

LOOL “Retro-futurism” is the concept behind this young brand from Barcelona. The Deco Series collection is inspired by the Art Deco buildings of Miami, defined by geometric lines and pastel colours that lighten the structure, emphasizing its lively and sunny appearance. The silhouette of the frames, available in gold, silver and copper coloured metal, is inspired instead by the Art Deco of the city of New York, echoing the decorative elements with “solid and void” effects along the edges of the lenses. A refined and minimal collection that ennobles the features of the face.
