It is with a heavy heart to pass along that one of our own, PGA Professional Mike Steiner, passed away in May. Mike came to the Colorado Section from PGA National Golf Club to work at The Country Club of the Rockies under Tom Apple in 1985. He progressed to becoming the Head Professional at Singletree, now Sonnenalp Golf Club He then went to Eagle Springs Golf Club as its initial Head Professional, then General Manager, and ultimately CEO and Club President Mike had been in that role since 2005.

He will be remembered as the kindest, most attentive, loving husband, son, brother, friend, and colleague. He exuded integrity, honesty, and excellence throughout his marriage, career, and life. He will be missed by all involved in the game of golf around Colorado

Mike is survived by his wife Judy, who was quoted saying, "From garbage collectors to CEOs, “he treated everyone the same."

Tom Apple, PGA, as his former boss at The CC of the Rockies, said, "Our Section, the membership at Eagle Springs, the Vail Valley, and the world of golf has lost one of the finest gentlemen I’ve met and worked with in my 50 years in the golf industry "

Mike was 62 when he passed in a boating accident in Northern Wisconsin.
