ROHRBAUGH CAPTURES 3RD STRAIGHT WC CHAMPIONSHIP, 12TH ALL-TIME
Carbondale, Colo., October 2-3 - A snow-capped Mount Sopris greeted players as they arrived at the Aspen Glen Club on Tuesday for the final round of the Colorado Golf & Turf West Chapter Championship Dry conditions and partly sunny skies set the scene for what turned out to be a barn burner of a final round

Eleven-time champion Doug Rorhbaugh, PGA of America Instruction at River Valley Ranch Golf Course, began the day six shots back of day one leader Grant Jackson, PGA of America Head Professional at Murphy Creek Golf Course. Jackson held the lead after firing a 2-under-par round on day one. Rohrbaugh carded eight birdies and only two bogies en route to a final round of 6-under-par 66 “I hit it excellent today,” Rohrbaugh stated, hitting 14 of 18 greens and only needing 70+ feet of putts to score his 66
Rohrbaugh claimed a one-shot victory over Ben Lanting, PGA of America Assistant Professional at Bear Creek Golf Club Lanting began the day one shot off of Jackson’s lead and five ahead of Rohrbaugh Lanting was 2-under-par in the 18th fairway and needed a birdie to take the title Lanting, rolled his birdie toward the hole, hit the lip, and ran out to four feet Lanting stepped up, rolled the par putt toward the hole, and it burned the edge for a bogey six, meaning Rohrbaugh had claimed his third West Chapter Championship in a row and his 12th all-time.
In the senior division, Matt Schalk, PGA of America General Manager at Colorado National Golf Club, fired rounds of 71 and 66 for a two-day total of 137 and 7-under-par. Schalk needed a solid finish to secure his spot as the Colorado PGA Rolex Senior Player of the Year, his first time taking home this title.
