Vail, Colo. - Bright sunshine and blue skies greeted the players as they arrived at Vail Golf Club for the final round of the Colorado PGA Women’s Championship. It was a bunched leaderboard heading into the final round with Ashley Tait, LPGA Instructor at Trent Wearner Golf Academy, holding a one-stroke lead over Sam Crawford, PGA Associate at the Colorado PGA, and a 5-shot lead over 2019 champion Sherry Andonian, PGA Instructor at Valley Country Club

Tait finished her front nine with a 3-over-par 39 to take a 5-shot lead over Crawford and Andonian with nine holes to play Andonian gained a stroke on Tait through 14 holes, but that was the closest she would come as Tait secured a 4-shot victory with a back nine of even par 36 consisting of two bogies and two birdies
“I felt really good about my swing down the stretch and played my own game,” Tait said. Tait had a 4-shot lead after the opening hole of the final round and never looked back. When asked how she dealt with having the lead heading into the final round, Tait stated, “I played more conservatively today and tried to leave myself below the hole on my approach shots.”
Her conservative game plan worked perfectly as Tait claimed the $1,125 winners check and her first Colorado PGA Section victory “I play so sporadically, so It felt good to go out and put up some good numbers for two days,” Tait said
Vail Golf Club was in phenomenal shape for both rounds, and all players echoed rave reviews. Thanks to Golf Course Superintendent Jacob Tilman and his team for all their efforts. Thank you to Director of Golf Alice Plain, PGA, and Head Golf Professional Trey Johnson, PGA, and their professional team for their hard work and dedication to help make this tournament a huge success
