5. The Lincoln Memorial

Our 16th president sits at 19 feet tall in the Lincoln Memorial. Modeled after the Parthenon in Athens, Greece this building is made to represent a man who defended democracy. This was also the location of Martin Luther King’s Famous “I have a dream" speech, and the location where Forrest Gump reunites with Jenny.

6. Tidal Basin

Home to some of the most famous memorials, including the Jefferson Memorial and the MLK Memorial, the Tidal Basin is a manmade pool with beautiful views of the city reflecting on the water. It is also home to the coveted annual National Cherry Blossom Festival.
