MYER BASEMENT EVENT Colosoul livened up the Basement in Myer Perth on Saturday the 13th of June with an awesome live show by Dialekt and Joe Black, followed by the winner and runner-up from the Future DJ competition, Aspect and Kyran Smith. The turntables started spinning at just after midday, and already there was a large crowd gathering. The spectators were evenly divided between devout Dialekt fans and curious city-goers eager to see what all the commotion was about. By the time the performances started, walking through the area proved to be a difficult task. The crowd went wild when Dialekt took the stage and prizes were given away through a ‘name that song’ contest. Alongside Ineffable, and with Joe Black behind the decks, Dialekt
pumped out a crazy performance, featuring songs from his upcoming album and plenty of crowd favourites. Once that was all said and done, the winner of the Future DJ competition, Aspect from DYP Electro, took to the turntables and started blasting out a crazy party mix of electro house, with plenty of deep, wobbly basslines and crazy drops. A small technical issue hindered the set for a moment, but Aspect powered on and played through it nicely. Once the crowd had been given enough to dance to, it was time to chill out a little. Runner-up to the Future DJ competition and regular at the Perth Habitat club nights, Kyran Smith, started playing some smooth, deep house that allowed punters to come up and talk about Colosoul and what was going on.
The set shifted between relaxing and funky, providing plenty of tunes for people to nod their head to and rounding the day off nicely. A big thankyou must go out to Dialekt and his crew, DJ Joe Black, Aspect and Kyran Smith, as well as Melissa Sulcs at Myer and Trish and Chloe and everyone else from Colosoul, who all volunteered their time to help make the day a success.
