L BRANDS FOUNDATION PRESENTS
Welcome to the CCAD 2014 Senior Fashion Show. This year’s fashion program is stronger than ever—and you’ll see evidence of that on the runway tonight. But before we go further into this beautiful book about detail, here’s a very important one that you’ll definitely want to know about: all the proceeds from our annual Senior Fashion Show go directly to CCAD scholarships. That means more of tomorrow’s top artists and designers get the chance to pursue their passions at CCAD. And it’s all made possible through the generous support of people like you. So without further ado, we say thank you— and enjoy the show!

It’s more than a shirt, a jacket, a pair of pants, or a dress. It’s a peek of lace. A flash of silver. It’s the intricate pattern on a fabric, and the unexpected positioning of a button. It’s a subtle dart and a careful cut. It’s every meticulous stitch, every thoughtful touch, and every special detail that truly make a garment unique.

In New York City, I came across an iridescent vinyl that I was instantly obsessed with. Incorporating a hint of this vinyl in each of my pieces made for an original and unique design detail—and its sheen will quickly catch the lights on the runway.

I’ve paid attention to layering details. Each piece is unique in construction, pattern, or handwork. For instance, I’m knitting a sweater for which I hand-dyed the yarns.

I’m using the laser cutter to add perforated details on leather necklines and a few other pieces. Further, the linings of my garments are all very colorful and very soft.

There was a lot of hand-sewing involved. That takes time and dedication, but it’s what was needed to create a collection like this.

ABOUT THE FASHION PROGRAM
The world of fashion extends from Walmart to Ralph Lauren, Famous Footwear to Louis Vuitton, and its reach is truly international. Studying fashion design at CCAD will get you ready for a role in both high art and big business. You’ll learn hands-on skills in design and construction, including the high-end software used to design and render apparel for today’s global market, complemented by an array of marketing and professional skills coursework. Internships are an important part of the program—and with industry giants like Abercrombie & Fitch, Justice, EXPRESS, and Victoria’s Secret headquartered in central Ohio, you’ll have lots of options.

SPECIAL THANKS
Gifted photographer Nick Fancher brought our students’ design accomplishments to life on the page—we gratefully thank him for his time and talent. Ologie is an award-winning agency that creates branding, marketing, and digital media for clients nationwide, and its founder, Bev Ryan, is a CCAD alumna and board member. We are grateful for their work on this year’s fashion show campaign, as well as for their steadfast, longtime friendship and support. Fashion Design Department Chair Suzanne Cotton and Assistant Professor Rebecca Robinson worked with students all year long as they conceived, designed, and constructed their garments. With their watchful guidance and impeccable taste, Suzanne and Rebecca helped CCAD students turn sparks of ideas into the wearable masterpieces that appeared on the runway tonight.
