Does Treatment for Neuropathy Pain Have to Involve Prescription Drugs?

Mary Sue HURLBUT AGE 80 - OTSEGO, MI

Sue passed away Wednesday, October 6, 2021 at the Wings Home in Allegan. She was born July 26, 1941 in Plainwell, the daughter of Robert and Mary (Helsel) Confer. Sue worked at Harding’s, Skogsmo, Parker Hannifin, Bomar Research and most recently at Hamilton Lumber. In her free time Sue enjoyed knitting, crocheting, reading and playing slots at the casino. Most of all she loved spending time with her family. On May 20, 1960 at the Otsego Church of God, she married Daniel Hurlbut who survives. Also surviving are her son, David (Marta) Hurlbut; grandchildren, Marta Huerta, Aime (Juan Sr.) Cano, José Roldan, Maurisa Leslie, Natesha Hurlbut and Shenea Hurlbut; 22 great-grandchildren; her brother, Bob Jr. (Kay) Confer and sister, Barb Herschel. She was preceded in death by her parents, son, Daniel Hurlbut Jr. and brother-in-law, Donald Earl Hurlbut. A private family graveside service was held at Mountain Home Cemetery in Otsego. In lieu of flowers contributions in memory of Sue may be made to Wings Home in Allegan.

Richard A. TYLER

AGE 79 - PLAINWELL, MI Richard passed away Saturday, October 2, 2021 at his home in Plainwell. He was born April 2, 1942 in Kalamazoo, the son of Arthur and Alma (Laymon) Tyler. For over 43 years Richard worked as a marking room clerk at Meijer on Westnedge Avenue in Kalamazoo until his retirement in 2007. Richard had previously belonged to the Otsego Church of God and was an active member of the Comstock Church of God. He was involved with the puppet ministry and teaching Sunday school. In his free time Richard enjoyed woodworking, gardening and landscaping, working with electronics, reading, doodling and making models. He volunteered at Alamo Nursing Home and Life Care Center in Plainwell. On May 19, 1973 in Otsego he married Carol Burd who survives. Also surviving are his daughter, Dorothy (Jason) Kovacs of Kalamazoo; grandchildren, Robyn and Andrew; sister, Alice Stringer of Florida and several special nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Homer. Funeral services were held Wednesday, October 6, 2021 at Winkel Funeral Home with Pastor Gerald Miller officiating. A committal service followed at Riverside Cemetery in Kalamazoo. Contributions in memory of Richard may be made to the American Decency Association or the American Heart Association.

Margaret passed away Wednesday, September 29, 2021 at Bronson Hospital in Kalamazoo. She was born October 23, 1952 in Kalamazoo, the daughter of Carl and Jeanette (Northam) Moyer. She was a 1970 Otsego High School graduate and lifelong resident of the area. Margaret was a woman of strong faith and loved the Lord. She was an active member of her church. She enjoyed helping others and recently went on a mission trip to Guatemala. Margaret loved her family very much and was happiest when surrounded by her children and grandchildren. On September 19, 1970 she married Michael L. Rex. Surviving are her children, Gabe (Alicia) Rex of Otsego, Tricia (Brian) Shaff of Plainwell and Andrea Rex of Portage; grandchildren, Jack (Rachel), Max, William, Lia, Anthony, Maggie, Caleb and Abigail; her siblings, Jim Moyer of Kalamazoo, Ginny (Mike) Summers of CO, Pat (John) Hinkle of Kalamazoo, Donna (Ron) Tharge of Otsego, John (Kathy) Moyer of Kalamazoo, Mary (Lane) Lovett of Kalamazoo, Nancy Flatt of Plainwell, Carl (Cathy) Moyer of Allegan, Gerard (Laura) Moyer of Kalamazoo and Therese (Barry) Mertz of PA along with several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, grandson, Troy and siblings, Joseph Moyer and Judy Harmon. Private family burial will take place at Mountain Home Cemetery in Otsego. A celebration of Margaret’s life will be held at 11:00 A.M., Saturday, October 23, 2021 at the Reformed Baptist Church, 454 S. Drake Rd, Kalamazoo. In lieu of flowers contributions in memory of Margaret may be made to Right to Life.

Dorothy passed away peacefully on October 1 with her daughters at her side. She is now reunited in Heaven with her sonScott, husbands-Pat and Ed, sister-Alice, brotherWalt as well as other family and friends. Dorothy is survived by her children, Diane (Marv) Kladder, Nancy (Jurgen) Vanderlaan, Step Son Rick (Renae) Levett, Grandchildren Kyle, Scott, Amy and Todd and numerous Great Grandchildren and Great-Great Grandchildren. Also surviving are her siblings Ann, Martha, Norma, Jake and Jim. Dorothy was a school bus driver for Caledonia Public Schools for 21 years and we still hear stories about her being the favorite bus driver. She was a member of Martin United Methodist Church where she volunteered to help with many activities over the years. Her passion was gardening and would stay up all hours of the night knitting baby sweaters for Operation Stork and slippers for friends and family. She had the opportunity to travel over the years to many interesting locations. The family wishes to extend a special thank you to Hospice of Michigan for the excellent care and support they received. Celebration of life will take place at Martin United Methodist Church, 969 E. Allegan St., Martin, MI 49070 on Sunday, October 17 at 1:00 with a luncheon to follow. Visitation with the family will be one hour before the service. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hospice of Michigan at HOM.org or Alzheimers Assn. at Alz.org or mailed to Alzheimers Association, P.O. Box 96011, Washington DC. 20090-6011.

AGE 69 - PLAINWELL, MI Ed passed away Friday, October 1, 2021 at his home in Plainwell. He was born June 14, 1952 in Kalamazoo, the son of John and Virginia (Rich) Sehy. For 30 years Ed worked at General Motors as a die setter until his retirement in 2002. In his spare time he enjoyed keeping his yard immaculate, hunting, fishing and gardening. Most of all Ed loved spending time with his family. He was a member of the UAW Local 488. On August 26, 1972 at Zion Lutheran Church he married Kathy Rushmore who survives. Also surviving are his daughters, Amy (Michael) Sehy-Willbrandt and Jessica (Jim Kendall) Sehy; grandchildren, Mikayla and Bryce Willbrandt; his sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law; several nieces and nephews and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; mother-in-law, Norma Rushmore; siblings, David Sehy, Marilyn Allen, Terry Sehy, Tom Sehy and brother-in-law, Steve Blain. Friends may visit with Ed’s family starting at 12:00 P.M., Friday, October 8, 2021 at the Winkel Funeral Home, Otsego, until the time of the funeral service at 1:00 P.M., with Pastor Greg Carlson officiating. Robert went to be with the Lord on October 1, 2021. He is survived by his children, Jeb and Lucinda Yoder of Plainwell, Amanda Nyenhuis of Byron Center, Nathan and Pam Harder of Gobles, Lisa and George Syers of Plainwell; grandchildren Raymond, Bret, Melissa, Blake, Allie, Dillon, Gabbrielle (Brian), Mikaela, Savannah, Levi, Noah, Brandi, Vanessa, Bill, Justin; great-grandchildren Zayden, Madelyn, and Remington. He also left brothers Ken, Don (Jenna), Larry, Roger and sister Arlene (Tom) and their families. Bob was preceded in death by his wife Margaret Marquard, parents Walter and Olive, a sister Jacquelyn, a brother Richard and sisters-in-law Sandy and Colleen. Robert was born in Wayland. He served in our U.S. military. He loved to fish, hunt, spend time in the great outdoors, nature and his beloved pup Buster. Most of all, he loved spending time with family and friends. Bob had some really special friends thoughout life including Ric and Rosie Sorrentino, Janet Cassidy, Karen, Dennis, Sharon Robar just to name a few. He loved the Red Wings, classic westerns, and wood crafts and projects. He was a selfless man whom always helped others. Bob loved camping and being with friends out by Schnable Lake Campground. Special thanks to Barb Bechtel for planning and organizing Dad's life wishes. Cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Life service will be held at Lighthouse Baptist Church on October 15th, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. with a luncheon to follow. Donations can be made to Jeb Yoder on behalf of Bob Marquard for final expenses.
