Once referred to as Armistice Day, Veterans Day is a time to recognize all the men and women who have served in the U.S. Armed Forces during wartime and peacetime. According to the Department of Veterans Affairs, there are over 21.8 million veterans in the United States, many of whom served in wars, like the Korean Conflict, and the Persian Gulf War. On November 11th, pay tribute to our veterans and thank them for the sacrifice they have made to preserve our freedom and protect our country.

I will not deny You!” (Mar k 14:31) Thankfully, Jesus never stopped loving him and tr usting him When Peter was str uck with the reality of the cross, his weakness was exposed Sometimes God allows us to go through hard exper iences in order to show us that our own resources are not enough, to teach us to rely upon Him only Dietr ich Bonhoeffer (l906-1945) was a renowned Ger man Lutheran pastor who was executed in a concentration camp in Ger many for his resistance to the Nazi dictatorship He was quoted as saying, “God will give us all the strength we need in times of tr ial; but God never gives it to us in advance, lest we think the power comes from us and not from Him ”
Perhaps the real lesson here is to tr ust God no matter what circumstance we are facing In the psalm quoted above, the psalmist was r unning for his life! My name is Stacey Withee and I have had the g reat honor of serving the citizens of Otsego as a city commissioner since 2017 I have proudly served as your mayor since March of 2022
I am of g raduate of Otsego High School and Western Michigan University. Since 2015, I have been employed as a controller by M&K Truck Centers which allows me to use my extensive accounting experience daily My education and experience make me professionally qualified to understand the City’s budget and the challenges it represents I star ted attending City Commission meetings in 2011 to better understand how our city is funded and what services a city provides to its residents One of the first things I learned was that our budget is actually a series of different budgets, each with its own revenue source and governed by specific rules on how it can operate.
I bought my house in the City of Otsego because I was searching for a home where I could walk my dog Annie, recognize my neighbors and be par t of a community I have volunteered extensively with T O P (Together Otsego Prospers) as a committee member and at many events including every Gus Macker tournament, Shop Small Saturday, Steins and Vines, Breakfast with Santa, and others.
A successful community is one where people want to live and work I am dedicated to moving Otsego forward as we work to facilitate the development of affordable housing, streng then our downtown

GIFTED Fine Art Boutique held its Grand Opening on Friday, October 18, 2024 Owners Rachel Hopkins and Lylee Jane Hopkins have always shared a love for all things creative Now they will be sharing their creativity with the community in their new boutique full of fine art, handmade and vintage clothing, antiques, and ar t supplies Rachel explained that, "We are located in the former Plainwell Fire Station which our family has owned since 2012 Our boutique is located at 115 W Bridge St in Plainwell, along with Design Street Ar t Studio, a non-profit Ar t School The building has historically functioned as a place for community gatherings and public use We are g rateful to be able to continue those traditions by offering a place for people to share their creative talents and interests "
In addition to antiques, hand-made clothing, vintage pieces, fine ar t (orig inal and vintage ar t prints), GI F TED offers unique ar t supplies and “fine ar t kits” which allow creative people of all ages to experiment with a variety of ar t techniques including printmaking, watercolor, metal crafts, acrylic, mixed media, collage, sculpture and more In their “Ar t With Us” kits they have every thing needed to create an ar t project including a QR code to access a recorded tutorial with step-by-step guidance in creating the project
When asked what makes GI F TED unique, Lylee Jane said, "The focus at GI F TED is on vintage items which represent ar tistic and creative expression We use materials from the past to create new clothing items, home decor, and fine ar t We feel our shop is similar in some ways to other shops in town which carry antiques, ar twork, clothing, and home decor What makes our shop unique is the emphasis on ar t and creative curiosities "
For those who would rather admire ar t than create it themselves, GI F TED has several local ar tists who have consigned orig inal works of ar t with them To maintain a “curated feel” in the shop, they require seasonal themes for consigned work This Fall they have a theme of “Autumn landscape” or R AVEN S/CROWS This allows all work on display to have a cohesive look and g ives customers something new to discover for each season Please stop by and say
