Kathleen passed away Saturday, March 6, 2021 at Trillium Woods in Byron Center. She was born September 20, 1944 in Allegan, the daughter of Clifford and Lois (Sweet) Myers. Kathleen enjoyed reading, cooking, taking care of her family and loved spending time with her grandchildren. She had attended Trowbridge Community Church. On March 16, 1963 she married William Groth who passed away in 2017. Surviving are her children, Mike (Sharon) Groth of Gobles and Michelle (Daniel) Wubben of Dorr; 9 grandchildren; 4 greatgrandchildren; siblings, George Myers of Florida, Leslie Myers of Martin, Marion Myers of Holland and Lucille Harrington of Comstock along with many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, infant brother, Elton and siblings, Vernon Myers, Larry Myers, Eugene Myers, Bertha Miller and Irene Miller. Visitation & funeral service were held Wednesday, March 10, 2021 at Trowbridge Community Church, with Pastor David Youngs officiating. Burial followed at Trowbridge Methodist Cemetery. Contributions in memory of Kathleen may be made to Trowbridge Community Church or Faith Hospice at Trillium Woods.

JoAnn passed away Friday, March 5, 2021 at Wings Home in Allegan. She was born June 5, 1937 in Wayland, the daughter of Floyd and Lucinda (Fales) Marciniak. JoAnn worked at Perrigo for many years. She liked attending auctions and catalog shopping. JoAnn also enjoyed taking fishing trips up north with her husband, crafting, quilting, needlepoint, cross stitching, flower gardening and taking care of her family. On August 8, 2004 in Allegan she married Roscoe “Rocky” Johnson who survives. Also surviving are her children, Virginia (Bruce) Hopson of Fennville, Beth Hamm of Allegan, Loretta Hamm-Smith of Kalamazoo, Jay Wadsworth of Lansing and Dale (Lisa) Wadsworth of Otsego; step-children, Alice (Chuck) Lossie of Paw Paw, Carleen (Mike) Kyle of Virginia, Rachel Wadsworth of Kalamazoo and Mike Wadsworth of Springfield; 30 grandchildren; 60 great-grandchildren; 7 great-greatgrandchildren; sisters, Judy (Al) Alexander of Kalamazoo, Janice (John) Bigley of Schoolcraft and Rose (Steve) Higgs of Otsego; son-in-law, John Keith; a brother, Tim Marciniak; sisters-in-law, Ruth Marciniak of Virginia and Fran Marciniak of Arizona along with many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, daughters, LuAnn DeKilder and Janice Keith; 4 grandchildren, Jessy, Robert, Ronnie and Brian; siblings, James and John Marciniak and Lois Jacqueline Clark and step-son, Roe Johnson. According to her wishes cremation has taken place. A graveside service will take place at 11:00 A.M., Saturday, March 20, 2021 at Trowbridge Methodist Cemetery with Pastor Mykel Hall officiating. On Saturday, February 20, 2021, Phillip Ray Salingue, loving father of four and wonderful friend to many, passed away at Wings of Hope Hospice Home in Allegan, MI at the age of 78. His last night was spent enjoying pizza and ice cream with family members by his side. Phil was born on August 12, 1942, in Zeigler, Illinois to Louis and Eva (Bavier) Salingue. He was reared in a happy family with four siblings: Angeline, Robert, Sadie and Johnnie. Phil loved to fish and play baseball. He had a long career as a sheet metal worker contributing his skills to several huge industrial buildings including the Pepperidge Farm Bakery in Downers Grove, IL; the Life Savers plant in Holland, MI; and the Upjohn Pharmaceutical company in Kalamazoo, MI. In 1963 he married Claudia Watkins with whom he had four children: Claudette Dee, Phillip William, Thomas Richard, and Theodore William. Most of his sunset years were spent with Joyce McGuire whom he loved and cherished. They lived in Martin, Michigan. Together they enjoyed antiquing, traveling to Florida in the winters and spending time with their blended families and friends. After Joyce’s death in 2011, Phil moved to Plainwell, MI. His favorite pastimes were attending sporting events and dance recitals where his grandchildren displayed their talents, trips to Plainwell Ice Cream Company for butter pecan and black cherry ice cream, fishing, and breakfasts at his favorite local diners. He also enjoyed his weekly card games, wine, and meals out with his friends. Phil was preceded in death by his parents Louis and Eva Salingue; siblings Angeline Noto, Robert Salingue and Sadie Holland; brothers-in-law Frank Noto and Wynn Holland; nieces Marsha Noto and Marla Salingue. He is survived by his children Claudette Lee (Lonnie), Phillip Salingue (Melissa), Thomas Salingue (Sherry), Theodore Salingue (Monica); grandchildren Samuel Lee (Tagin), Emalee Bruns, Mitchell Salingue, Joshua Salingue, Alonna Lee, Owen Salingue, Taylor Salingue, Jackson Salingue, Carson Salingue, Greyson Salingue, Allison Salingue; his brother Johnnie Salingue; sister-in-law Esther Salingue; nephew Rick Holland; nieces Tammy Almaroad, Lisa Thompson, Kelly Harshbarger, Sara Wilson; and many great nieces and nephews. A memorial graveside service is planned for 11:00 AM on Saturday, April 24, 2021, at East Martin Cemetery, with a celebration of life luncheon to follow at the Martin Township Hall. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Wings of Hope Hospice in Allegan, MI in honor of Phil. Frank KRUEGER AGE 79 - OTSEGO, MI

Frank passed away Tuesday, March 9, 2021 at the Wings Home in Allegan. He was born October 22, 1941 in Allegan, the son of Clarence ‘Deke’ and Frances (Cooley) Krueger. Frank proudly served his country in the US Army during the Vietnam Conflict where he served in the Postal Department in Tacoma/Seattle. For many years he worked at Pharmacia until his retirement. Frank was a devoted Detroit Tigers fan and was active in the Jaycee’s summer league. He also enjoyed mushroom hunting in his spare time. Surviving are his children, Stacy (Kyle) Wilder of East Leroy, Lisa (Dale Wadsworth) Schmitt of Otsego and David Krueger of Seattle; grandchildren, Brandin (Alex) Schoonhoven and Anastasia (Nicholas) Tefft; sister, Sue (Jim Stack) Priller along with several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, companion of 20 years, Janet Keast and sister, Patricia (Dan) Kung. According to his wishes cremation has taken place. Burial of ashes will take place at 1PM, Thursday, March 18, 2021 at Mountain Home Cemetery in Otsego with Military Honors by Otsego VFW Post #3030. Peggy passed away March 18, 2020 in Jacksonville, Florida. She was born May 29, 1953 in Kalamazoo, the daughter of Martin and Burdine (Kiewiet) Myland. Peggy had worked at Beach Products, American Greetings and Designware. In her free time she enjoyed playing softball, bingo, black Friday shopping and online shopping. She was an active member of Encounter Church in Plainwell where she had also served as a deacon. Peggy will always be remembered for how she loved and cared for others; but especially for the extraordinary love for her daughter Kaitlyn, who was central to her mother’s life and happiness. Surviving are her daughter, Kaitlyn (Chris Nichols) Lee of Florida; siblings, Penny (Doug) Fuss and Woody (Pam) Myland; several nieces and nephews; ex-husband, B.J. Lee; her church family and her cat, Haven. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Darrell Myland; step-father, John Munro and step-mother, Ola Myland. Contributions in memory of Peggy may be made to Encounter Church in Plainwell. A memorial service will be held Sunday, March 21, 2021 at 4:00 pm. at Encounter Church, 202 S. Sherwood Ave., Plainwell with Pastor Dave Alderman officiating.

“Love’s Extravagance”

“While he was in Bethany, reclining at the table in the home of a man known as Simon the Leper, a woman came with an alabaster jar of very expensive perfume, made of pure nard. (Nard is similar to essential oils of today). She broke the jar and poured the perfume on his head.” - Mark 14:3 HOLY WEDNESDAY

While the plot to kill Jesus began to unfold behind the scenes, Jesus took time to spend with His friends in the home of Simon the Leper at Bethany. There arose disdain among those present when an unnamed woman poured expensive perfume on Jesus’ head (Mark 14:3-5). Jesus defended her act of kindness saying it would always be remembered as a memorial to her (Mark 14:6-9). There are several ways one can view this event as follows: Symbolically

Her gracious gift was an acted out parable of Jesus’ imminent death and burial. There is no price that can be placed on acts of love given in Jesus’ name. Jesus’ death on the cross was a clear demonstration of love’s extravagance. Practically

In the practical sense, this was the woman’s last opportunity to show her love for Christ. Remember the words of Charles Studd, “Only one life ‘twill soon be past. Only what’s done for Christ will last.” Personally

We, like the woman, may give to Christ love beyond measure and expect to receive grace beyond understanding.

Prayer: Dear Lord, help us to be extravagant in our love for You. In Your strong name. Amen.
