Michael A. Harriger, 74, of Plainwell, MI, passed away May 13, 2022, at home with family by his side. He was born March 1, 1948, to Lois E. and Walter J. Harriger in Dubois, PA, and grew up in a loving family in Reynoldsville, PA. Mike was a junior in high school when Reynoldsville-Sykesville Area schools merged with Dubois and graduated from Dubois High School in 1966. He attended Penn State University, interrupting his education to join the U.S. Army in 1968. That same year, he married his high school sweetheart, Patty Wescoat, and the adventure began. Mike served two tours of duty overseas in Panmunjom, Korea, and Wurzburg, Germany as a military policeman. Upon discharge from the Army, he returned to school, and they began raising their two daughters, Michele, and Heather, in Reynoldsville. Mike began his engineering career in Tiffin, OH for National Machinery. This was followed by a move to Kent, OH and positions in Kent and Solon, OH for Allied Steel and Tractor, Kent Air Tool, and SP Manufacturing. Their son, Jeff, joined the family during this time. In 1990, Mike, Patty, and Jeff moved to Plainwell, MI and Mike was chief engineer for Pratt Burnerd American until his retirement in 2015. Mike was very outgoing and could talk to anyone, easily making new friends. He remained true to his Pennsylvania sports teams and was an avid Penn State and Steelers fan. A favorite vacation of Mike and Patty’s was a trip to the Rose Bowl in 1995. Many trips were made back to PA for football and family. Mike loved the game of golf and had an opportunity to play the Old Course at Saint Andrews. He especially enjoyed his Thursday night golf league at Crestview Gold Course. Mike also had a passion for music and could often be found wherever there was karaoke, singing and making new friends. He was an excellent writer of letters, stories, and poems. He belonged to the First Presbyterian Church of Plainwell and the American Legion McMullen-Snyder Post 392 Reynoldsville, PA. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Patty; their children, Michele of Cleveland, OH, Heather of Charlotte, NC and Jeff of Plainwell, MI; three sisters, Nancy (Ed) Kirkland of Ocean Isle Beach, NC, Susan (Paul)Bowman of York, PA, and Sherry (Jerry) Carmella of Lancaster, PA; two sisters-in-law, Billie Cramer, and Wendy (Richard) Young of Reynoldsville, PA; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. The family wishes to thank Centrica Care Navigators for the kind, compassionate care and support received these past two months. A celebration of life to be planned for a later date. Robin W. KEYZER AGE 73 - ALLEGAN, MI

Robin passed away, Friday, May 20, 2022 at Life Care Center in Plainwell. She was born June 15, 1948 in Allegan, the daughter of Maynard and Joyce (Crisman) Keyzer. As a young woman Robin enjoyed bowling and had been on several area leagues. She also liked being outdoors, hummingbirds, working on her house, baking sweets and shopping. Robin loved her cat Bubbas, watching NASCAR and following Dale Earnhardt. Surviving are her grandchildren, Desiree (Anthony Seekman) Keyzer, Kelsey Keyzer, Emily Keyzer, Tera (Brandon) Randall and Catie (Aaron) Lapham; 5 greatgrandchildren and many extended family members. She was preceded in death by her parents; step-father, Bart Service; son, Kevin and brother, Gary Keyzer. According to her wishes cremation has taken place. Friends may visit with Robin’s family starting at 1:00 P.M., Sunday, June 5, 2022, at the Winkel Funeral Home, Otsego, until the time of the memorial service at 2:00 P.M., with celebrant, Bill Rose officiating. Lesa Marie (Williams) SANCHEZ AGE 61 - OTSEGO, MI

Lesa Marie (Williams) Sanchez of Otsego, MI passed away on Monday, May 23, 2022, at the age of 61. She was born in Plainwell, MI on February 13, 1961, the daughter of James Williams and Francis (Lang) Gren. She graduated from Plainwell High School in 1979. Throughout her life she has demonstrated a strong character and work ethic that evolved into a thirty year career with Kalamazoo Enterprise Center/Park Trades. Lesa brought into this world two sons: Justin in 1982 and Ryan in 1985. They were her world, from sporting events to family vacations she did her best to provide for her boys. In 1990 she met the love of her life: David Sanchez and after seventeen years the two were united in holy matrimony on August 11, 2007. Together they enjoyed being outside, cooking, gardening, spending time with their family and just being together. More than anything they cherished spending time with their grandchildren. She will fondly be remembered as a very caring and giving person often overlooking her own needs until everyone else had been taken care of. She is preceded in her passing by her parents: Jim (Rita) Williams and Fran (Carl) Gren. Left to cherish Lesa’s loving memory is her husband of fourteen years: David Sanchez; children: Justin (Erica) Meninga and Ryan Meninga; grandchildren: Hunter, Alivia, Brayden, Annabelle, and Kalvin; brother: Curt (Laurie) Williams and Jeff (Sharron) Gren; and countless cousins that are like brothers and sisters, as well as many nieces and nephews. In accordance with Lesa’s wishes public services will be held at Avink, McCowen & Secord Funeral Homes and Cremation Society, 120 South Woodhams Street, Plainwell, MI 49080 with a time for visiting on Tuesday, May 31, 2022, beginning at 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. A celebration of her life will be held on Wednesday, June 1, 2022, beginning at 11:00 a.m. Memorial donations made in Lesa’s name may be directed to The Arts Council of Greater Kalamazoo. The saying is true, “Actions speak louder than words.” It is only when we our creeds are lived out in our deeds that our faith becomes compelling. The late Harry Emerson Fosdick, a prominent American pastor in the early 20th century, told a story that illustrates this point perfectly. Armenia was the first country to officially adopt Christianity. In the early l920s the Armenians suffered genocide which was committed against them by the Ottoman government of Turkey. When the massacres and deportations finally ended, between 600,000 and l.5 million Armenians were killed. A Turkish soldier had chased a young woman and her brother down a dead-end alley, killing the brother. The young woman escaped. She was later captured. Since she was a nurse, she was put to work in a military hospital.

One day the soldier who had murdered her brother was brought into the hospital and placed in her ward! Terror flashed over their faces when they recognized each other. The soldier was critically wounded and the nurse knew the slightest inattention on her part would end his life. The spirit of Christ won out. She conscientiously nursed him back to health and prayed for him every evening.

When Christians announce a “new life in Christ” it means we look forward to heaven with confidence. We know that through Christ we will be in the presence of our majestic God. We will be surrounded by all His glory. Our eternal home in heaven is because God’s Son, Jesus Christ, makes atonement for our sins. Jesus sets us free from death and the tyranny of evil. We are reconciled to God and begin a new life now, and in the future. The curse of death has been lifted from our shoulders. We have a new freedom to enjoy life by living with a grace filled heart.
