Kathleen Jan MYERS AGE 78 - MARTIN, MI

Kathleen Jan Myers passed away on June 1, 2024, at her home surrounded by her family She was born on April 3, 1946 in Plainwell, MI to James and Betty (Jones) Mahieu Kathy graduated in 1964 from Delton High School On June 21 she married the love of her life, Leslie Myers and they shared nearly 44 years of wedded bliss Les and Kathy wintered in Florida for several years Kathy always treasured her many dear friends from Dade City Also, while in Florida, Les and Kathy had fun going on trips and spending time with Les’ brother George and dear friend Jean She enjoyed summers camping at the Otsego Moose Lodge where she had once held the position Senior Regent Kathy also enjoyed fishing with Les at the lakes near their summer home Up North They moved back to the area four years ago settling in Martin, MI Kathy cherished her sweet mother Betty, her sister “Sissy”, her family, her many friends, dancing, playing cards, being a Red Hat Lady and her flowers Kathy attended Trowbridge Community Church where she loved her Ladies Bible Study Group But, most of all Kathy loved Les, who so tenderly cared for her during her illness and final days Kathy was preceded in death by her father, James Mahieu Surviving is her husband Les, her son Jim (Tanya) Householder of Oklahoma, Stepsons Len (Cheryl) of Martin and Lyle (Theresa) Myers of Savannah, GA; 15 Grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren and 2 on the way; her mother, Betty Mahieu of Otsego; brother David (Darlene) Mahieu of Kalamazoo; sister Sharalyn Downing of Otsego; sister-in-laws, Jan Myers-Carpenter of Otsego, Mariam Glass of Holland, and Lucille Harrington of Kalamazoo along with many nieces nephews The family would like to express their thanks to Centrica Care Navigators’ Nurse Alyssa and Aide Angela who took excellent care of Kathy and Aunt Jan, who went above and beyond with her loving care for Kathy A Memorial Service was held on Wednesday, June 12, 2024 at the Trowbridge Community Church with Pastor David Youngs and Pastor Mykl Hall officiating Contributions may be made in memory of Kathy to either Centrica Care Navigators, Trowbridge Community Church or Mooseheart (An organization through the Loyal Order of Moose to help children whose families are unable to take care of them)

Suzanne passed away, Sunday, June 9, 2024, at her home in Otsego She was born December 31, 1944, in Kingsley, the daughter of David and Dorothy (Tomes) Brautigam Suzanne was a childcare worker for the State Hospital in Kalamazoo before starting her family She enjoyed raising her girls and was a girl scout leader When her daughters were grown, she returned to the State Hospital until her retirement She then went on to work at Borgess Hospital until her ﬁnal retirement In her free time, she liked taking care of her home, baking, crocheting, coloring and sewing She had a green thumb and enjoyed growing many different plants Suzanne was a member of the Oak Grove Bible Church in Kalamazoo On December 7 1968 in Kalamazoo, she married James Kirk who survives Also surviving are her daughters, Ellen (George) Gama of Otsego and Emily (Jeff) Cobb of Plainwell; 5 grandchildren, Molly (Ronald), Hannah (Grant), Nathan, Madelynne and Jacob; great-grandchildren, Flynn, Evelynn, Owen, Jesse and another due in December; sister, Judith (Neil) Smith; brother, David (Sally) Brautigam along with many nieces, nephews and extended family members She was preceded in death by her parents According to her wishes cremation has taken place A celebration of Suzanne’s life will be held at 11:00 A M , Friday, June 14, 2024, at the Oak Grove Bible Church in Kalamazoo, with Pastor David Ives ofﬁciating Contributions in memory of Suzanne may be made to Oak Grove Bible Church

a picture of God They came up with some pretty pictures of clouds, sunsets and men with big hands One girl drew a picture of her father complete with suit and tie Before her father could say anything the child said “I didn’t know what God looks like, so I just drew my daddy instead

The Old Testament writers had a hard time drawing a picture of God The closest they could come to naming God was “I am who I am ” Then, along came Jesus with a new name for God: Abba meaning Father or Daddy

Jesus called God Father It has been said Jesus is the best picture of God that we have

At the early age of twelve years, while in the temple Jesus astonished His ear thly parents by saying “I must be about my Father’s business” (Luke 2:49) He said, “I and the Father are one (John 10:30) Again He said “I am in the Father and the Father is in me” (John 14:10, 11) On the cross, Jesus commended His spirit to His heavenly Father (Luke 23:46)

In the Lord’s Prayer Jesus taught us to address God as “Our Father ” Our granddaughter calls it the Our Father” prayer In referring to God as Father we are relinquishing our lives to His control The word Father suggests authority and power to judge It also suggests love, mercy and grace A father’s greatest gift to his children is to show them Jesus

There were two captains, usually the best athletes or biggest bullies, and they would each pick players for their team I always felt bad for the last kid picked It was the kid no one wanted on their team Maybe that kid was you and you’re still going to therapy for it The best players get picked first That’s the way it works unless Jesus is the captain of the team He tends to pick first, people we might pick last to be on our team He picks Matthew, a hated traitor who was collecting taxes from his own Jewish people on behalf of Rome Tax collectors in Jesus’ day were notoriously dishonesty and greedy They had money, but no honor They were considered by religious Jews to be on the lowest rung on the sin ladder But, in front of everyone, Jesus picks Matthew to be on his team with the words “follow me”

When this handsome guy went for one of his first walks with a volunteer, they shared how pleasantly sur pr ised they were with his leash manners and that he didn’t pull on the leash at all! He does especially well on long line walks with the freedom to roam and sniff to his hear t s content At the shelter, Brewtus likes to blow off steam by playing with toys He loves them all but especially balls and soft toys! Brewtus would make a wonderful hiking companion or adventure buddy!
