How Does Decompression Work?

Non-surgical Spinal Decompression is a pain free procedure designed to relieve pressure that builds up on the discs and nerves. As pressure builds inside the disc it causes bulging of the gelatinous material inside the disc. This jellylike tissue can be placed under so much pressure that it can cause the annulus, or outer band of the disc, to rupture. Some of us grew up watching the l950s American TV sitcom, “Father Knows Best.” It was a story about how a father (played by Robert Young) and his wife (played by Jane Wyatt) faced the everyday challenges of parenting. This brings to mind the real true-to-life Bible story of how our Heavenly Father watches over us and wants what is best for us.

The biggest road block of doing what pleases God is our insistence on doing things our way, rather than God’s way. Jesus told the story about a man who had two sons. The younger son decided to live his life in his way, on his own terms, independent of his father’s authority. The boy wasted his money and ended up being in want. The Scripture says, “He came to his senses” (Luke 15:17). In other words, he came to realize that his way was not the best way to live.

He did a 180. He repented of his wrong and before he could even get the words out of his mouth, his father ran to meet him and welcome him home. The focus of the story is not on the prodigal son, but on the loving father. In my imagination, I can hear the boy saying to himself, “Father knows best.”

The good news is that our loving Heavenly Father always knows best. He knows us better than we know ourselves (Psalm 139:1-6). He loves us unconditionally (John 3:16). God is wisdom; therefore God knows what is best for us (James 1:5). The bottom line is life works best when we do things God’s way.

With that I would like to dedicate this article to all fathers who are doing their best to be the fathers God wants them to be.

Prayer: Dear God and Father of us all, help each of us to live our lives for Your glory. In Your strong name. Amen.
