“GOD KNOWS EVERYTHING”

(No 6 in series: The Attributes of God)

O Lord, you have searched me and you know me Psalm 139:1

By Rev Dan M nor - revdminor1945@gmai com

We have all heard the saying “hindsight is 20/20 ” Sometimes in looking back we may wish we had more knowledge at the time a decision was made We may have done things differently In other words, our knowledge is incomplete (I Cor inthians 13:8, 9)

This br ings us to another of God’s attr ibutes: God’s omniscience In other words: God is all knowing God knows ever ything there is to know about us

Thus, with the psalmist we can say, “You have searched me and known me You know when I sit and when I r ise; you perceive my thoughts from afar You discer n my going out and my lying down; you are familiar with all my ways Before a word is on my tongue, you, Lord, know it completely You hem me in behind and before, and you lay your hand upon me Such knowledge is too wonderful for me Too lofty for me to attain ” (Psalm 139:16) What does it mean that God knows ever ything and our knowledge is limited? For one thing, if we knew ever ything, we would be God As Pastor Jeremy Afr ica says, God is God and I am not ”

This br ings us to the hard question of human suffer ing and loss Why do bad things happen to good people? There are some questions which will never be answered in this life and this is because God’s ways are higher than our ways (Isaiah 55:8, 9) In Deuteronomy 29:29 we read, “The secret things belong to the Lord our God ” Jesus understands our need to ask why On the cross, Jesus said, “My God, My God, why have you forsaken me? (This was a direct quote from Psalm 22:1) Given the fact that our knowledge is limited, how can we deal with life’s unanswered questions?

I n t h e m i d s t o f gr e a t s u f fe r i n g , J o b s t a t e d , “Though he slay me, yet will I tr ust in Him” (Job 13:15) Apostle Paul who knew the meaning of personal suffer ing, wrote, “Now we see but a poor reflection as in a mirror ; then we shall see face to face ” (I Cor inthians 13:12)

It seems to me, our best option is to move forward, tr usting God Prayer: Dear Lord, help me to tr ust even when I do not understand In Your strong name Amen.

Moseley would love to join a home with another playful dog and older dog-savvy kids to play with! He loves to play with other dogs and has a couple playmates at the animal shelter, but can definitely be too much for some dogs If there is another dog in the home, a meet and greet will be scheduled to ensure they’re a good match!
