Dave passed away peacefully, Monday, August 28, 2023, at home with his family by his side He was born January 23, 1939 in Plainwell, the son of Arthur and Myrtle (Hawkins) Myers Dave enlisted in the Army Reserves when he was 18 and proudly served his country for 8 years He worked as a concrete mason for Titus for 20 years, Admiral Gas Station for 9 years, Cushman Construction, Menasha for 17 years and for 10 years at Steelcase until his retirement in 2001 In his free time Dave enjoyed antiquing and collecting He also liked traveling and loved spending time with his family Dave was a member of Peace Lutheran Church in Otsego for 52 years On December 12, 1970 in Arcadia, MI, he married Jeanne Scheppelman who survives Also surviving are his children, Marie (Don) Patrick of Arkansas, David Jr (Diana) Myers of Shelbyville, Cherie (Jon) Janis of Middleville and Paul (Brooke) Myers of North Carolina; 8 grandchildren, Shane, Brandi, Jessica, Catrina, Joshua, Katia, Aleksei and Makari; 11 greatgrandchildren; brother, Jim Myers along with several nieces and nephews He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Kathryn Myers and infant sister, Janet Friends may visit with Dave’s family starting at 12:00 PM, Friday, September 1, 2023, at Peace Lutheran Church in Otsego, until the time of the funeral service at 1:00 P M , with Pastor Nathaniel Timmermann officiating Burial will follow at Mountain Home Cemetery, Otsego Military Honors by VFW Post #3030 Contributions in memory of Dave may be made to Peace Lutheran Church of Otsego As Dave always said, “It’s never goodbye, it’s just so long for now ”

Carolyn Sue (Grimm) Pryor of Plainwell, Michigan passed away in her sleep on August 29, 2023 at the Wings of Hope House in Allegan, Michigan Carolyn was born with her identical twin (Sandi LaFountain) on February 27, 1950 in Plainwell, MI, daughter to the late Harry Grimm, Sr and Kathaleen Grimm Carolyn is survived by her husband of 54 years, Larry G Pryor and son Travis Pryor Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents, one brother Harry Grimm Jr and one sister Virginia (Grimm) Boyce She is survived by one twinsister Sandi (Rick) LaFountain, two brothers Larry (Rosie) Grimm and DarryI (Alice) Grimm and many nieces & nephews Carolyn was a f a i t h f u l m e m b e r o f t h e Plainwell Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses all of her life She is greatly missed and loved!

Bill passed away, Wednesday, August 23, 2023 at his home in Plainwell He was born May 8, 1956 in Plainwell, the son of James and Charlene (Buxton)

Harrington Bill graduated from Plainwell High School in 1974 and attended Michigan State University earning a degree in Agriculture and Horticulture He worked at Ridderman Oil for several years and went on to own and operate H&H Tree Transplanting until his retirement in 2022 Bill was a member of the Audubon Society and the Pierce Cedar Creek Institute Bill enjoyed the outdoors and loved being able to share his love of nature with his grandchildren He liked growing trees, hunting, fishing, conservation and bird watching, having recently checked a bucket list trip to the Redwood Forest off his list Bill had a giving heart and had donated 135 units of blood to help save the lives of others In 2003 on the family farm he married Jade Doster-Roth who survives Also surviving are his children, Ben (Amanda) Harrington and Anna (Derek) Carter both of Plainwell; step-son, David Roth of Colorado; 12 grandchildren; siblings, Tim (Nancy) Harrington of Indiana and Sue (Marv) Brenner of Plainwell along with several nieces and nephews He was preceded in death by his parents and step-son, Dan (Erin) Roth According to his wishes cremation has taken place A memorial service will be held at a later time Contributions in memory of Bill may be made to the Pierce Cedar Creek Institute

Nancy was a 1975 Otsego High School graduate She had worked for National City/PNC Bank in Oshtemo for over 20 years and then for JD Byrider in Kalamazoo for over 10 years Nancy was a single mother who raised her only son for many years on her own He was the absolute pride and joy of her life She was happiest when surrounded by her family, especially her grandchildren Nancy enjoyed decorating her home absolutely beautifully, was a great cook and baker, loved to travel and thoroughly enjoyed life She will be remembered lovingly by her family and friends for her generous heart and kindness to strangers If you were blessed to have Nancy as a friend you knew she was always happy to be the Thelma to your Louise Surviving are her son, Ryan (Lydia) Oberlin; her grandchildren, Madison Rutledge, Grayson Oberlin and Everly Oberlin; her siblings, Jeff (Ellen) Volker of South Carolina and Sarah (Tom) Clemens of Allegan; several nieces and nephews and her sister-in-law, Jeannie Volker She was preceded in death by her parents and her niece, Lorie Volker According to her wishes cremation has taken place A celebration of Nancy’s life will be announced at a later time Contributions in memory of Nancy may be made to her family for expenses

John passed away, Tuesday, August 22, 2023 at his home under Hospice care

He was born June 26, 1938 in New Washington, Ohio, the son of John and Erna (Keebler) Fry

His early life was spent on his family farm as the youngest and only boy of 5 children John graduated from Buckeye Central High School in 1955 He proudly served his country in the Army National Guard He worked for Menasha/USG for 35 years until his retirement in 2013

John was an avid Ohio State Buckeye fan much to the chagrin of his children He loved fishing, traveling and time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren Farming was his passion and it never left his soul He held farmers in great regard On May 31, 1968 he married Nancy Deaton who survives

Also surviving are his daughter, Debbie (Fry) Kruse; grandchildren, Kris Kruse, Lexi (Mark) Esterline, Curtis Moss, Brent Moss; Donna Fry and Jennifer (Travis) Streich; great-grandchildren; Harper, Olivia, Jett, Madison, Logan, MacKenna, Cole, Carlie and Cam; daughter-in-law, Cindy Fry along with many nieces and nephews He was preceded in death by his parents, beloved sons, John E Fry and Robert Allan Fry and by his siblings According to his wishes cremation has taken place A memorial will be held at 1:00 P M , Saturday, September 16, 2023, at the Otsego VFW Post #3030 Contributions in memory of John may be made to Wings of Hope Hospice of Allegan The family would like to thank them for their loving care of John and support for his family

Tr ust is something that is ear ned According to Pew Research, only two-in-ten Amer icans say they tr ust the gover nment in Washington to do what is r ight “just about always” (2%) or “most of the time (19%) Long before religious polls, God taught God’s people how to tr ust Him

We can only imagine the reluctance of Moses, for example to tr ust God when he was called to lead the Israelites out of Egyptian bondage to the Promised Land This amazing stor y is found in the Book of Exodus (Old Testament) He felt inadequate He felt “slow of speech ” He was afraid his own people would reject him, among other things Stop r ight here for a moment How many times has God called us to do something and we refused to listen because of self-doubt?

I recall some hesitancy when I was called to ordained ministr y What will my fr iends think? Am I really up to doing this? Romans 8:31 spoke to me and was pivotal in my answer ing God’s call This verse reads “If God is for you who can be against you ” I thought, who indeed?

When it came r ight down to it, Moses tr usted God to wor k and he successfully led the people of God through the Red Sea What Red Sea are you now facing? What obstacle stands in your way of obeying God completely?

This beautiful boy was brought into Wishbone’s care as a lost dog who was never reclaimed Our medical team have estimated he’s 7 years old Rambo seems to be almost completely blind he hasn’t seen an ophthalmologist, but our vet speculates he has a degenerative eye disease that’s caused his loss of vision He has gained so much confidence with the donation of a halo har ness to help him navigate the wor ld! Rambo was clear ly someone’s pet before his time with us He loves people, knows basic commands, and seems housebroken even in the shelter environment Rambo has not yet been temperament tested, but he could likely join a home with other dogs and older, respectful children If there is another dog in the home we’ll schedule a meet and greet to ensure they re a good fit! He hasn t yet been tested with cats
