The staff at CLCE have worked hard to find and provide as many opportunities as possible for our community members aged from birth to 99+ We hope you'll find several classes that you'd like to take advantage of.

We continue to look for new and exciting ways to engage and offer our community opportunities to grow within their learning journeys Our staff continues to work hard to find ways to support the community in the areas of early childhood education, adult and youth enrichment, aquatics, fitness and more.

CHILDHOOD Family Education Early Childhood programs are provided through Chisago Lakes Community Education and offer classes, events and services for families with children birth kindergarten age. So much learning occurs before your child enters school and you, the parent, are your child’s first and most important lifelong teacher! The Chisago Lakes Early Childhood Programs are designed to support you in this important role ABOUT EARLY CHILDHOOD PROGRAMS For families with children birth to age 4 For parents and children ages 3 5 A quick and simple check of your child’s development typically between the ages of 3 ½ 4. For children between the ages of birth and 5 years who have identified special needs. Early Childhood Family Education (ECFE) Ready For Kindergarten Early Childhood Screening Early Childhood Special Education (ECSE) EARLY CHILDHOOD PROGRAMS Each qualifying class lists "sliding fee scale" as the fee Please use the sliding fee scale to determine your individual rate which is based on your family's gross income Gross Annual Income Monthly Fee $75,000 and over $75 $40,000 $74,999 $50 $20,000 $39,999 $25 $20,000 and under $5 SLIDING FEE SCALE On parent days in an ECFE class, we have sibling care available for children who are not enrolled in a class. Parents who want to use this service should register when they register for an ECFE or Ready for Kindergarten class. Registration is required Fee is $14 for 1 child and $20 for two children If your annual household income falls below $25,000, sibling care is free SIBLING CARE

Family Education EARLY CHILDHOOD

ECFE is a program that offers support, encouragement and information for families with young children Parents and their children attend weekly classes together

ECFE classes include the following:

Parent/Child Time A variety of learning activities are set up at stations around the room for you and your child to choose Parent Discussion Parents meet with a parent group facilitator for discussion and support Children’s Classroom Children enjoy play, snack and story time while parents meet for discussion.

READY FOR KINDERGARTEN

2022 - 2023 READY FOR KINDERGARTEN

Ready For Kindergarten is a 2 days per week program for 3 5 year olds and their parents Parents and children attend class one day each week together, and children attend the second day by themselves Parent participation on parent/child days is required, as activities set up in the classroom are designed for children to do with their parents Parents also will enjoy group discussions about ways to help prepare children for a positive transition to kindergarten.

EARLY CHILDHOOD SCREENING

Early Childhood Screening is a free and simple check of how your child is growing, developing, and learning Screening at 3 is preferred, but a child may be screened between the ages of 3 and the start of kindergarten. Ideal age is 3.5 years old.

REASONS TO SCREEN AT AGE 3

Screening can help your child to be ready for school Health and Developmental problems/concerns can be identified earlier and help provided sooner

Families can be referred to community health and educational services

WHO NEEDS TO BE SCREENED?

All children living in the Chisago Lakes School District who are 3, 4 or 5 years old and not currently enrolled in kindergarten need to participate in this free screening program before entering kindergarten Children who attend Early Childhood Special Education Service programs may not have to participate in Early Childhood Screening

IS SCREENING REQUIRED?

Minnesota state law requires your child must be screened for enrollment in a public school Children are not permitted to enter public school without having an Early Childhood Screening If you are planning to send your child to private or home school, the screening is not required by law; however, we still encourage you to participate This is a great opportunity for you to find out how your child is developing

Little Wildcats Preschool is designed to prepare children and families for the transition to kindergarten We focus on pre reading, writing, and communication skills, number awareness and social skills Certified teachers and classroom assistants plan daily large group activities, focused small group activities, a snack time and individual choice time at learning centers in the classroom. Authentic assessments are used to ensure that children are on track for school success. ABOUT KIDS CLUB

Kids Club provides a high quality care program in an environment that is safe, nurturing and FUN! We are an affordable program that parents can rely on throughout the school year and during our 10 week summer program. Our goal is to provide a warm and caring environment for the children with a variety of activities to enrich each child's education These activities include active recreation and quiet games, arts and crafts, reading and math games and "free time" for the children to pursue their favorite interests

Just mention the words “Home Alone,” and children think of the excitement depicted in the movies of the same name The reality of being home alone can evoke fear and anxiety in many children Whether left alone for an hour after school or several hours a day during the summer, children should feel comfortable being alone This workshop for children will address several topics relating to being “Home Alone” including personal safety tips, tricky people, basic first aid, fire safety, handling the unexpected, internet safety, gun safety, dealing with loneliness and boredom, storm safety, dealing with siblings as well as trust and honesty Students attend this class independently Parents are encouraged to review the take home information and discuss it with their child.

Chisago Lakes Community Ed offers a state mandated 30 hour classroom course along with 6 hours of Behind the Wheel instruction for one fee The one fee allows us to offer our program at a lower cost

If you have completed the 30 hour classroom at a different location and would like to complete the behind the wheel through our program, please call 651 213 2603 for more information

Parents are highly recommended to attend this meeting to receive a contract to be signed and returned, receive information and ask questions regarding the program If you are unable to attend the parent meeting, paperwork will be sent home with your student

Due to a new law, there will be an optional Supplemental Parent class right after the parent meeting from 4:30 5:30 pm Parents who choose to stay for the Supplemental Parent Class will result in lowering your student's supervised driving log from 50 to 40 hours.

Lifelong learning is the basis for Adult Enrichment Participants have the opportunity to learn new skills, develop their interests, connect with others and enrich their personal or professional lives.

We offer a wide variety of classes and educational programs for local adults, including, but not limited to, arts & crafts, computer, music & dance, wellness, business, home & garden and much more Chisago Lakes Community Education also coordinates many recreation programs throughout the year for adults in the Chisago Lakes area. ABOUT AQUATICS

Our aquatic facility includes a 25 meter wide by 25 yard long eight lane main pool The water depth ranges from 3'6" to 12'. The air temperature is 84 85 degrees and water temperature is 83 84 degrees. The main pool includes an attached diving well of 12' depth with two one meter spring boards We have a separate 10' x 20' wading pool designed just for our preschool classes Depth range is 1' to 1'6", and water temperature is 90 degrees

There is a parent spectator area located near both pools. Pool specific locker rooms, bathrooms, and showers are available on location

During January through May we will be offering one hour long lap swim sessions. This is a great way to get aerobic exercise in! Check our website for availability

Bring the family by for Open Swim. Our shallow end with a stair entrance is 3ft 6in deep The middle lanes span from 4ft 3in to 5ft deep and our deep end with a 1m diving board is 12ft deep Kids who wish to go in water over their head or the deep end, must pass a swim test. We have a separate wading pool that stays at 90 degrees that spans from 1ft to 1ft 6in deep
