Laker Fever: Catching It While Retaining

his is the time of year. Laker flags are affixed to thousands of cars in the streets of L.A. Pictures of Kobe are found everywhere. Children are wearing Laker jerseys. Laker fever has arrived with the Playoffs.
you reach the end row, you can move in whatever direction you want.”
But there are aspects of the Lakers which appear out of sync with traditional Jewish values. The Laker wives and girlfriends often seem right out of reality TV shows (and some actually are). The Lakers themselves all seem to walk with the strut of conceit. They show off tattoos with their own names and initials and superman and other insignias of self promotion. When they don’t play as well as many think they should, the discussion centers around lack of team play.
The Laker playoffs started against the youngest NBA team, the Oklahoma City Thunder. This eighth-seeded team gave the Lakers virtually all they could take. The Thunder played as a team. Each player seemed to unselfishly throw the ball to the open man. The Thunder players each took turns talking about the strengths of their teammates rather than engaging only in self promotion. The players hugged each other rather than simply strutting. They lacked the tattoos now so popular among players on many teams. The play and behavior of the Thunder remind us and our children what can be so good about basketball.
While at their best, the Lakers seem to be one of the best NBA teams ever, a parent with Jewish traditional values has to question how much children should be exposed to the kind of life style the NBA seems to promote. Is watching or even following NBA play appropriate, or is this some waste of time, and even worse, a promotion of values contrary to Judaism? Is the pursuit of games itself anti-Jewish? In Buber’s Tales of the Hasidim, the Hasidic Rabbi Bunam deals with the playing of games. He walked into the Yeshiva to find the boys playing checkers. (It was apparently during the season of Christmas when in fear of possible pogroms the yeshiva students reduced their studies and engaged in games and similar activities.) The boys quickly stopped playing when they saw their teacher. But Rabbi Bunam asked them, “Boys, do you know the rules of the game of checkers?” When no one responded, Rabbi Bunam continued, “The rules of checkers are you can only make one move at a time. You can only move forward and not backward. And when

Rabbi Bunam used a common kids game to share a life lesson. The point: We can learn from any activity. There can be much we can learn from the basketball and the NBA.
At the other extreme of age, the San Antonio Spurs seem to be the oldest team in the NBA. This year, the Spurs experienced injuries associated with aging players. The first time the team seemed to be fully healthy was at Playoff time. Despite their obvious weaknesses, this team persisted on the strength of experience. Each experienced player knew his own strengths and the strengths of teammates. There was respect for each other among these players who have been together so long. With strength, experience and expertise, the Spurs were able to advance to the second round, despite the odds against them. It was a joy watching the play of these former champions. Throughout the NBA, there are increasing numbers of great players. Hard work for many years by players with the dream to play in the NBA has helped to produce one or two superstars on every single team. We all know the names which are on the uniform backs: James,

Bryant, Durant, Boozer, Duncan, Howard, Parker, Pierce, and others. The talents of these and other players are remarkable. Players seem to defy gravity. Impossible shots are regularly made. Players on defense seem to jump four or more feet in the air to block shots. Passes are made cross court to assist in timely shots. The play is frequently spectacular, so much so that this adjective is actually used in NBA promotional ads.
Like everything else, we as parents must remain actively involved in the lives and activities of our children. We should watch with them. We must caution against their “idolization” of players. We must also caution against their imitation of the players. Conceit and strutting should not be imitated. Team play can be emulated, selfish play has no place. Practice and hard work can be learned from sports and then applied to other aspects of our lives.
There is much to like about the NBA. The league advertises the charitable activities done in the communities by each team. There are many such charitable acts done both for publicity and secretly by players under the radar of publicity and public relations. Actions done by players after the Haiti Earthquake are particularly memorable. So much of the NBA seems admirable. But what do we do about the negative conceit of the players, the self promotional tattoos, the selfish play often observed, and other distasteful elements of NBA players?
Sports can play an important role in our lives. But sports should be a participatory activity and not just for spectators. Sign your sons, and even your daughters, up for teams so they can play and not just watch. The Orthodox Jewish community has many such options. And go with your children to practice and games. There are good and bad things about most any activity. With your supervision and involvement, basketball can play an important, positive role in your child’s life. •

Second Chances A piercing soul-cry breaks open a new path
I
n Parshas B’HaAlosecha, the Torah introduces the commandment of the Passover offering which occurred “in the second year of their exodus from the land of Egypt, in the first month.” A few weeks ago, we began the book of Bamidbar with the census of the Jewish people, which happened “on the first day of the second month, in the second year of their exodus from the land of Egypt” – a month later, but 3 Torah portions earlier. Rashi explains that even though the events of B’HaAlosecha occurred chronologically before the events of Parshas Bamidbar, the Torah doesn’t begin the book of Bamidbar with this passage “because it is a disgrace to Israel that throughout the forty years that the children of Israel were in the desert, they only brought one Pesach sacrifice.” What was the disgrace? They were not obligated to bring the sacrifice, since they had not entered the land of Israel! The commandment clearly says that it is only applicable within the land of Israel, and this first time was an exception. Tosfos (Kidushin 37b) explains that the disgrace was their delay in entering the Holy Land for forty years because of the sin of the spies, which prevented them from offering the Pesach sacrifice. During their delay in the desert, the Jewish people were unable to do many other Mitzvos that could only be performed in the Land of Israel. If this is the reason behind his statement, why would Rashi stress the disgrace only in regards to the Pesach offering? Why don’t we find that all

of the other Mitzvos that they missed out on were also a disgrace? Why does Rashi specify the Pesach offering? Later in B’HaAlosecha, the Torah tells us that the Jewish people offered the Passover sacrifice in the desert, precisely according to G-d’s commandment. There were a few people whose circumstances prohibited them from offering the sacrifice. They cried to Moshe: “We are impure…Why should we be losers? We’re prevented from offering G-d’s sacrifice…” Moshe forwarded their complaint to G-d, and G-d revealed Pesach Sheni – a day to make up the Passover offering a month later. What prompted them to bring this complaint to Moshe? The Torah law clearly excludes those who are impure from this commandment. Did they want a new Torah? Where did they get the notion that they can request a change in the Divine will? It’s almost as if they were demonstrating that the Torah is unfair! Even more astonishing is that Hashem complied with their request, and created a new Mitzvah. How can it be that human complaints and whining can create a new Mitzvah? The Torah is not negotiable; every detail is filled with infinite wisdom: The minimum height of a sukkah is ten handbreadths, 9¾ handbreadths don’t qualify. If Shabbos ends at 6:00pm, and someone does work at 5:59pm, they have desecrated Shabbos. If a shochet’s knife has a tiny, practically invisible nick, the entire animal is not kosher. How did anyone get the idea that G-d would suddenly make an exception for the Passover offering?

Rashi mentions that this commandment, the opportunity to make up for not having brought the Passover offering, was set aside to be revealed through this event and to honor the righteous people who were dedicated to fulfilling G-d’s will. But why did it need happen this way, through the protests of the Jewish people? Why does the verse imply that this was a new thing? It is clear from many verses and statements of the sages that the manner and medium through which the Jewish people connect with G-d is Torah and Mitzvos. There are many verses in the Torah which clearly list all of the rewards and benefits of following the Torah’s prescription for Divine relationship, and, G-d forbid, the punishments and other things that come from straying from that path. However, we also find in many places that the Jewish people are connected to G-d from a place beyond commandments. We are always G-d’s children, whether we are behaving or not. Originally, the soul Exists within G-d himself. As G-d chooses to separate the soul and place her into a body, she begins to see herself as an independent entity. She descends through the spiritual worlds into the finite realms, developing a distinct personality until finally entering a body. Since there is an endless distance between the finite and the infinite, the soul that is within the body now finds herself absolutely separated from G-d. To enable the soul to rejoin with her source Hashem compressed himself into the Torah and the Mitzvos, and when a person engages in them, he's not just reconnecting the soul with G-d’s will, but even the physical body - the mind, hands, and feet; even other objects in the world around us – all of these become instruments and extensions of the Divine. So, we as Jews have an essential Neshama connection as well as the details that come through mitzvah observance. When a person is loyal to G-d and observes the Mitzvos throughout his lifetime, this person achieves a connection to G-d throughout every detail and aspect of his being. Every experience of their life is eternalized, and when Moshiach comes, this person is fully resurrected because every aspect and every breath is connected to Hashem. If, G-d forbid, a person is negligent in particular areas of mitzvah observance, these aspects of their being remain finite and mortal because they are disconnected from G-d. Our essential connection is what enables Teshuva to have an effect. Even if there has been a disconnect between a person and G-d as a result of negligence in Mitzvos, through regret, a deep sigh, a sobbing of the soul and a desire to better, we can cry out to Hashem, “FATHER!” and
15

tap back into this essential connection that transcends all limitations. We create a new channel, and a new relationship. Then, slowly and carefully, as one works to maintain and develop this relationship, a person can extend that to encompass all areas of his life. Teshuvah is the only way to transcend the infinite divide once the Torah connection has been severed - to connect directly with G-d’s essence - but this opportunity is only available during one’s lifetime. What about people whose lives never had a channel of relationship with G-d? People who were born into secular families that did not observe the Torah and the commandments? Unfortunately, there are millions of Jews today, who believe that success isn’t in the spiritual realm, but rather one of materialistic achievements. They don’t yet know or understand their soul’s connection and yearning for G-d; they may not even understand or believe in the Torah’s commandments or G-d’s will. What prompts these people to do Teshuva? Do they feel guilt when they eat non-kosher food or, G-d forbid, desecrate the Shabbos? Thousands of Jews, who perhaps for generations have been disconnected from spirituality, are suddenly coming back to G-d. They are not prompted by guilt, regret or shame, and there is no outreach organization forcing anyone to follow the Torah. The only explanation is that the soul, when she is disconnected, reaches a breaking point; she’s in pain from spiritual hunger and loneliness. This soul yearns with an ache and a desire, from a place beyond all physical boundaries and definitions, to cleave and connect with G-d. This subconscious drive to reconnect is brought out from her essential connection that can never be destroyed, and manifests itself in the drive, strength, and power of Teshuva. By definition, through the Torah and Mitzvos, a sin results in a disconnection and severance from G-d. The Torah is the only way to connect with the Divine. There is no mechanism within any of the realms of the physical or spiritual worlds that can tolerate anything contrary to G-d’s will. It is only by connecting with G-d himself, by going beyond the creation to the Creator Himself, that a sinner has hope for redemption. Only G-d can choose to redefine creation, change the rules, forgive a sin and restart the relationship. When the Jews in the desert were getting ready to leap into Pesach, preparing the first Karban Pesach in the desert on their way into the land of Israel, they were bursting with excitement. However, there were some that knew they wouldn’t be able to participate. They knew the rules, the code of law and exactly why they couldn’t join in. They didn’t have a rational objection, only a desire to connect with G-d. How could it be that a tremendously powerful con-

nection between Hashem and the Jewish people would take place, and they couldn’t take part? They couldn’t take it, and protested to Moshe who asked G-d and received an answer: Pesach Sheni, a second Passover. Pesach Sheni has no basis in logic. The dates of our holidays are connected on all levels to the flow of G-dly energy into the worlds. The commandments and traditions we follow on any given day are the ones that are spiritually appropriate and connected to each moment. While it is appropriate and auspicious to perform some Mitzvos every day, others have an appointed time. Bringing the Passover offering on the 14th day of Iyar is like blowing a Shofar on Channukah. There is only one way that Pesach Sheni became a possibility. When Jews cry to their Heavenly Father that they want to do a Mitzvah, that they wish things could be better, He will move aside His deepest desires and wisdom to appease his children. That’s the incredible message of Pesach Sheni: when a Jew wants to connect with G-d, there are no barriers, and He will find a way, even through the impossible. It was because of Pesach Sheni that the Jewish people were disgraced. After the first Pesach Sheini, on the way to the Holy Land, they managed to get stuck in the desert for another forty years. Even though they were now exempt from this mitzvah, forty Passovers went by and nobody even cried out that they wanted it anyway. They felt limited by the details, instead of aching for something beyond their revealed relationship with G-d. If they would have cried, and really meant it, they would have gotten it! Our generation is unique; it’s a Pesach Sheni generation. Millions of Jews have grown up in an environment where they don’t know anything about true Judaism or spirituality. Their only way back to Hashem is through the essential connection that is exemplified by Pesach Sheni. In one moment of sincere regret and desire to connect, even from those of us who do know better but made mistakes, we can reconnect with G-d and rejuvenate the relationship. It doesn’t matter how we came to the situation, in every scenario, as long as we are alive, if we sincerely cry out to G-d for a second chance – He will give it to us. He will give us the opportunity to correct all the blemishes and bring G-dliness back into every moment of our lives. The Rambam says that in the end, every Jew will do Teshuva, and through this Teshuva we will turn darkness back into light and bring Moshiach very soon. T
here is a seemingly mysterious, if not cryptic, set of verses in this week's portion. "And every portion from any of the holies that the Children of Israel bring to the Kohen shall be his. A man's holies shall be his, and what a man gives to the Kohen shall be his".(Numbers 5:9-10) The posuk prompts so many homiletic and Midrashic interpretations. Even after Rashi, the Master of Torah explanation, clarifies a simple meaning to the verse, he affirms that "there are varying interpretation from Midrashic sources." Obviously Rashi foreshadows a need for deeper interpretation. To that end I will lend my take. What does the Torah mean that "a man's holies shall be his"? How are holies, his? And what are holies anyway? After all, when one dedicates items to the Temple, they are no longer his holies, they belong to the Temple. A plaque may afford recognition, but it surely is not a certificate of title. If the verse is referring to holy items owned by an individual, then it seems redundant as well. A man's possessions are of course his!
What is Livescan Fingerprinting? Livescan is an inkless fingerprinting process where fingerprints are electronically transmitted to the Department of Justice for background screening. Ink fingerprinting is still required in many states. However, as a result of legislation passed in 1997, the California Department of Justice (CA-DOJ) has developed the automated background check process, which requires Livescan fingerprints for criminal history background checks that may be required as a condition of employment. Livescan technology replaces the ink process of recording fingerprint images. The CA-DOJ may also forward Livescan fingerprints to the FBI if required.
About five years ago, we had the honor of having Senator Joseph Biden of Delaware deliver a commencement address at our Yeshiva's graduation. The senator, who was at the time Chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee, was a guest of his good friend and well-known philanthropist, Joel Boyarsky, a member of our local community and dear friend of our school. After the ceremony, I had the privilege of riding together with the Senator in Mr. Boyarsky's stretch limousine, a fully apportioned vehicle that was truly befitting its prestigious passengers, among them many dignitaries and businessmen, who frequented its inner chambers.
Who Needs Livescan? Livescan may be required as a condition of employment for: Teachers, Care Givers, Contractors, Security Guards, Nurses, Doctors, Surgeons, Real Estate Licensees, Appraisers, Notaries, DMV Licensed Professionals, Foster Parents, Stock Brokers, Volunteers, and anyone applying for a professional licensing, certification, or permit. Persons applying for foreign adoptions or VISA/Immigration clearances may also need Livescan processing.
As we rode for a while, discussing everything from politics to Israel, and issues surrounding Jewish education, something in the back corner of the limousine caught the corner of my eye. There was a tefillin zeckel, a velvet case that hold sacred Jewish phylacteries tucked away in the corner of the back windshield. Protruding from the corner of the purple-velvet case were the retzuos, the sacred straps that bind a people to their rituals. I was both amazed and perplexed at the same time. Mr. Boyarsky, as I knew him, was not a very observant Jew. I was not even sure if he kept kosher. Yet the tefillin were right there, almost displayed in open view, in the same limousine in which he closed multi-million dollar deals with prominent businessmen, and discussed sensitive issues

with the most prominent statesman. A few weeks later, I visited Mr. Boyarsky in his office. It was there that I popped the question. "I don't get it. As far as I understand, you are not observant, and your car is hardly a home to Rabbis. But yet you keep your tefillin in your car, in open view for everyone to see? Why? His terse answer remains with me until today. "When I travel I take my things. Those tefillin are my things." The Torah issues a profound decree that defines not only what we have, but who we are. Those of us who understand that life as fulfilling as it may appear, how succulent the courses that it serves may taste, is but a fleeting moment in the grand scale of endless eternity. Who are we and what do we have. I saw a bumper sticker that seemed to have survived the NASDAQ plunge the other week, "The guy with the most toys at the end wins." Wins what? What are the toys? The Torah tells us that after all the innings are pitched and the crowd walks from the packed stadium, we only have one thing. We have our holies. They are ours. Cars break. Computers crash. Satellites explode. Fortunes diminish and fame is as good as yesterday's newspaper. Only the holy things that we do, only our acts of spirituality, whether manifested in relationships with our fellow man or with our Creator, remain. Those holies are ours! They will always belong to us. That is what we travel with and that is what we take along. In this world and the next. • by Rabbi Mordechai Kamenetzky

n this week's portion, there is a brief conversation that may get lost in the myriad activity of some of its more fascinating stories and commands. Moshe beseeches his father-in-law, Yisro, to continue travelling with the Jewish nation. "We are travelling to the place of which Hashem has said, 'I shall give to you.' Go with us, and we shall treat you well" (Numbers 10:29).
PARSHAS B'HALOSCHA
It's the Real Thing
Yisro replies by saying that he would like to return to his land and family. Moshe implores Yisro by telling him that he must accompany the Jews. After all, he knows the encampments and would be eyes for the Jewish people. Whether Yisro was influenced by his son-in-law's arguments is debated by the commentaries. The Torah does not refer to the outcome. What interests me, however, is that Moshe never tells Yisro where the Jews are going. He just tells him that "we are travelling to the place of which Hashem has said, 'I shall give to you.'" It is reminiscent of Hashem commanding Avraham to travel to Canaan with the petition "go from your land and your birthplace to the land that I will show you" (Genesis 12:1). But Moshe is not the Almighty, and the entire nation knew of the land where they would be going. After all, the land of Canaan was the focal point of the Exodus. Why, then, does Moshe describe it to Yisro in a mysterious manner, not by defining its location, longitude or latitude, but

rather identifying it as "the land that Hashem has promised to give us"? Would it not have been easier for Moshe to tell Yisro, "We are travelling to the Land of Canaan and we want you to accompany us"? New York Times columnist Ralph de Toledano had a different view of the world than that of his editors. Despite protestations of the editorial board of the Times, he would always capitalize the words Heaven and Hell in any context. His editors called him to task citing that heaven is only capitalized when it is a alternative for the Deity as in "Heaven help us." Moreover they insisted hell never got a capital H. De Toledano, however, insisted that any reference of those two places be spelled with a capital first letter. "You see," the conservative columnist explained, "Heaven and Hell must always be capitalized. I want my readers to understand that Heaven and Hell are real places just like Scarsdale!" When describing the Land of Israel, Moshe does not take a topographical approach. He delves deeper. Moshe Rabbeinu does not refer to the land of Israel merely as the land of Canaan. In telling his father-inlaw where the Jews would be going, he does not offer the longitude and latitude. He does not even describe Eretz Yisrael as the land flowing with milk and honey. Moshe's only descriptive was, "the land that "Hashem told us, this I shall give to you.'" That statement describes Eretz Yisrael in stronger terms than agricultural potential, natural beauty, or strategic location. It tells us that Eretz Israel is the place that Hashem promised. Any other quality is temporal. Bounty withers, beauty erodes, and natural resources dry-up. But the promise of Hashem remains eternal. It makes us understand that like both extremes of the world-to come, the Land of Israel is real. •

e shifts his weight somewhat in his seat and, with that slow, familiar gesture, scratches the back of his neck the way he always does when he's been driving too long. Someone else might not know that about him, but I do. I have come to know each movement, each tonal nuance, each look.
this. While store-bought presents are lovely and still welcome, it's the little things, the everyday nuances which we must observe, appreciate and absorb at a different, more soulful level. We should notice and acknowledge these special moments, for they need to be captured, treasured and stored in our memories as the true thermometer of the relationship.
I gaze at the man who stood with me under the chuppah thirtyone years ago and suddenly notice the furrows on his face, the salt that is gradually replacing the peppered hair. He turns his head and glances at me for a moment, and I smile as the sunshine of this fresh new day catches the light in his hazel eyes. Everything about him reminds me all over again that I would have never chosen another.
It's the simple words accompanied by meaningful acts which take on significant value and represents communication at its deepest level. And, over time, we discover how our mates handle the countless challenges we experience over the years – how the face of love begins to mature and grow.
In this world of instant gratification, instant marriages, instant divorces – in fact instant everything one can possibly imagine – here, right beside me, is proof that time is the ultimate test of love. There are a zillion ways for couples to show their love for each other, but it takes time to learn how to love each other in the most meaningful ones. The commercialized, romanticized versions of love are far different from the reality of our everyday lives. My husband was never one to succumb to the idealized concepts of romance, but there were some delightful surprises along the way which communicated his deep understanding of my needs at any given time. The other day, my youngest daughter was looking for a vase to display the beautiful bouquet of flowers she bought for me. She came across one over the fireplace holding a dozen delicate china roses. Not giving them a second thought, she quickly took the twelve porcelain blossoms out of the vase, saying, "Look, Mummy, I found a vase with some old flowers in it." "Please be careful with those," I told her, "They were given to me by your father when we were first married." She looked at me incredulously. Her dad, with his doctorate in clinical chemistry, is Mr. Logical, Scientific, Practical, No Fuss. The adjective "romantic" would never occur to her when describing him. "Daddy really did that?" "Yes, I replied, smiling at her disbelief, "He really did. He brought home one rose each month for the first year of our life together." That first year of china roses was his way of showing me that he understood my need back then for some of the preconceived notions of love which I held onto in my youth. The days of monthly tokens of affection have long since passed. And while they were certainly beautiful presents, other more subtle displays of his love for me have taken the place of these initial offerings.
Like the day, two years ago, when he looked at me, his wife of then almost three decades and felt my pain as I faced a multitude of crises with my mother. During the course of eight decades, his mother-in-law had survived concentration camps, the devastating obliteration of beloved family members, the loss of her husband, being suddenly thrust into the work force, single parenthood, financial hardships, open heart surgery and now most certainly was about to lose her life due to unbearable loneliness, loss of hope and depression in this final phase of her journey. His hazel eyes seemed more penetrating and serious as our eyes locked and he matter of factly suggested that she move in with us. That moment changed our lives significantly, and this one, perfect gesture was the most loving gift he ever gave me. While the roses have withstood the test of time and will always represent the early bloom of our love for each other, this selfless, pure act, this remarkable mitzvah moved me far beyond anything before or since on a spiritual level. This, this – is what love represents to me now. While I may try, I can never, in a million years, repay him for the one gift which taught me the true meaning of a soul mate. While I may try, I can never repay him for that one gift. Today, as we approach our anniversary, I contemplate how to express my love to the man I have admired and adored, the man I have called my husband for almost thirty-one years, the man who asks for nothing and gives everything. As I have just discovered, thirty-two represents the numerical value of the Hebrew word lev, or heart. Our hearts, which reflect both abstract and concrete meaning, are a true symbol of everlasting love. And so, I initiate our thirty second year of marriage with this love letter to my husband. I embark on this newest road with the hope of filling the remainder of our days with an even deeper bond and growing understanding of each other, and the promise to honor and cherish all the remarkable qualities which led me to him then and have kept me at his side ever since. Thank you, Andrew, for the wisdom and pureness of your love.•

vir Emanuelof was the first soldier killed in Oferet Yezuka (the Gaza war in Jan 2009). His father died of cancer two years earlier. Dvir, was the only son among daughters, and took on many responsibilities together with his mother. His loss was particularly traumatic.
"I hope you don't mind my being a little nosey, was he born before the war or after?"
On his last birthday family and friends gathered around his grave. They brought flowers and decorated his grave. At the grave site his mother, Dalya shared this moving story.
Baby Dvir's mother began to explain. I am an officer dealing with wounded soldiers in the army. When I was at the end of my pregnancy, the doctors suspected that the fetus may have a very serious birth defect. Since it was the end of the pregnancy they couldn't do anything, just to wait and see how things would turn out. When I went home and heard the news of Dvir being killed in the war, I decided to make a deal with G-d. If you give me a healthy son, I promise to name him Dvir in memory of the soldier that was killed."
One night before she went to bed she said in a loud voice, "G-d give me a sign, give me a hug from Dvir so that I will know that his death has meaning." Then she went to sleep. That week her daughter asked her to accompany her to a concert, by Mair Bnai, who was appearing at the Chutzot Hayotzer Arts and Crafts festival in Jerusalem. The mother, feeling quite depressed did not want to go to the concert, but she didn't want to disappoint her daughter and agreed to go half-heartly. The concert took place at Solomon's Pools. As the musicians were warming up and tuning their instruments and the concert was a bit delayed, a 2 year old boy, with beautiful blond curls, looking like a little angel, came up to her and touched her on the shoulder. A preschool teacher, Dalya turned around, saw the boy and started speaking with him. "What's your name?" asked Dalya. "Eshel” the boy replied.
"After." "If I can ask one more question, why did you name him Dvir?"
Dalya, the mother of Dvir, stood with her mouth open. She told them, "I am Dvir's mother." The young parents didn't believe her. She repeated, "I am Dvir's mother." They said "what's your name?" "My name is Dalya Emanuelof from Pisgat Zeev. " Baby Dvir's mother handed her the baby and said, Dvir wants to give you a hug." Since then, young Eshel and Dvir and their parents have accompanied the Emanuelof family to memorials, and to the dedication of a Torah scroll in Dvir's memory. On Memorial Day (Yom Hazikaron), Dalia told the story of her son Dvir, and then of her meeting with his namesake. "We feel like there's something new here, there's a continuation of Dvir's story,” Dalia said. •
"Do you want to be my friend Eshel?" " Yes." "Do you want to sit next to me?" "Yes. " Eshel's parents, two rows above, seeing their 'angel' bothering Dalya, asked him to come back to them, but Dalya indicated to them that everything was fine. "I have a brother named Dvir" Eshel told her. Dalya was shocked to hear the name and walked up the two rows to his parents. She saw the baby in his carriage, and apologizing, asked, "If you don't mind me asking, how old is your baby son?" "Six months."

Why responsible doctors recommend this...
The capsules are enteric coated to prevent them from dissolving in the stomach, arriving to the intestines fully potent.

Apple pectin is included to support healthy digestion and elimination, and to cleanse the intestinal tract.
Maxi 5M™ Perfect for very young children and infants, Maxi 5M™ is a powder formula combining lactobacillus sporogenes and lactobacillus acidophilus. We’ve included slippery elm bark to protect the probiotics from stomach acids, then added apple pectin and biotin to further assist with digestion and elimination.
When to take probiotics For best results, take probiotics before meals, at least half an hour apart from antibiotics. Begin supplementing as soon as you start taking antibiotics, and continue for twice that length of time. (For example, if you’re on antibiotics for 7 days, take probiotics throughout, then continue for another 7 days.)
