Calgary Stampede 2024
In the spirit of respect and truth, we acknowledge the traditional territories of the people of the Treaty 7 region in Southern Alberta, which includes the Blackfoot Confederacy (comprising the Siksika, Piikani, and Kainai First Nations), as well as the Tsuut’ina First Nation, and the Stoney Nakoda (including the Chiniki, Bearspaw, and Wesley First Nations). The city of Calgary is also home to Metis Nation of Alberta, Region III.

Stampede City Canadian Progress Club is a volunteer organization best known for creating and hosting the Bullshooters Breakfasts. Bullshooters was established 51 years ago on July 10th, 1973. The legendary event has contributed millions of dollars to numerous local children’s charities.
In 2002 they established the Just 4 Kidz Foundation. Just 4 Kidz was created through the Calgary Foundation to provide long term sustainable funding for unique underfunded programs such as the A.C.E.T.S program at the Alberta Children’s Hospital. In addition to the Alberta Children’s Hospital Stampede City have been strong supporters of Providence Schools, Kids Cancer Care Foundation, Kidsport as well as many other local children’s charities.
In 2015 Stampede City started the Bill Gibson Scholarship Fund in honor of a current longterm club member who will turn 104 this September. To date 7 students have received full 4 year scholarships.
In 2023 Stampede City Canadian Progress Club was one of few non corporate groups to join the Alberta Children’s Hospitals “Thanks a Million Donor Club”.

The Stampede Smash-up 2024
was a Fabulous success.
This was the second annual collaboration hosted by several women’s groups within Calgary.
Including: Fabulous at 50, eWI, CBWN, Women Talk, eWN and SHE Community.
It was held at the infamous Ranchmans in Calgary on July 10 where we danced the day away to live music, connected with wonderful people and enjoyed a mouthwatering roast beef buffet.
The First Annual SOBER STAMPEDE
The First Annual Sober Stampede brought the community together to celebrate with live music, vendors, food trucks and so much more! Featuring artists such as Fred Penner, Jayme Minor and Trooper.

Stampede Breakfasts & BBQs!
Everyday over the 10 days of The Calgary Stampede there was multiple Stampede breakfasts & BBQs across Calgary.
Every event celebrated community by bringing people together to eat, network, and enjoy music & entertainment.

PAAC Alberta & The Non=Profit Vite Stampede Lunch, @ Central Taps
Once again, the team at Pattison Outdoor brought together clients, community & culture to help celebrate the things that make us an awesome city. This gathering is a Stampede fixture & a blast to be a part of.
If you're looking to get the experience of cowboys, paired with local-signature drinks and without the chaotic crowds; this is the place. It's probably more like what the first Stampede felt like (minus the animals). Community coming together to create connection, and celebrate a simple, shared legacy of cowboy hats and conservative culture.

Paul Brandt "Not in My City" Pancake Breakfast
Human trafficking is real. Over 90% of human trafficking victims in Canada are Canadians. Awareness can help break the cycle, with the free yellow rose training provided by Not in My City, anyone can help. This pancake breakfast we were serenaded by Paul Brandt's powerful music, but also anchored with his stories of how much human trafficking occurs in the world today. We left engaged with an organization that's making a real difference, and connected to simple steps we can take to make a difference.

THE GREATEST OUTDOOR SHOW ON EARTH
Elbow River Camp
Calgary Stampede 2024
A welcoming environment, that offered performances, information and a look into the indigenous culture within Alberta.
Mark Littlechild
Exploring all the Indigenous Entrepreneurs was a great way to learn about different businesses, products and gave us a chance to learn about the community. While exploring we met local founder Daniel Little Leaf, from the Blood Reserve who founded Sweetgrass Skin Co
Sweetgrass Skin Company is an Indigenous owned business that pursues a reconnection to animal and land-based knowledge. This revival aims to uplift your skincare routine. Taking us back to the basics of simple, beautiful, and traditional products.

To a day filled with rodeos, and chuckwagons and relay races to rides and a game zone for the kids and adults! The Agriculture Centre Filled with livestock and opportunities to learn about our farming and agriculture industries to performances by the Stampede Marching Band, Grandstand hosted by The Young Canadians, and chances to win prizes such as The Dream Home and so much more! It truly is The Greatest Outdoor Show on Earth!
SOMETHING FOR EVERYONE…
Some of OUR favorites:
Anything to do with animals is on the top of our list1! The Calgary Stampede offers an opportunity to watch, learn, and be apart of the Agriculture Industry It is truely remarkable to interact with the animals, meet the people behind the agriculture industry and learn.
THE NEW BMO CENTRE! Is AMZAING!
The view from the Third floor of the BMO Centre is remarkably stunning! During The Calgary Stampede it was filled with vendors, performances and places to grab a glass of wine, to various art displays and so much more!
THE FOOD! OH, the FOOD!!!!!!!!!
And of course we can’t forget the rides! From the ferris wheel to the swings to rides that scare the life out of you!
FOOD is always amazing at the Stampede. Of course we started off with the traditional MUST have corn dog, followed by Lemonade and mini donuts…BUT our favorite was the Perogies from the Perogy Boyz!
Founded in 2011, Perogy Boyz is one of Calgary's first original food trucks. They firmly believe anything is great with the good ol' perogy and have a great time being creative with their dishes, they take pride in providing great food, great service and a commitment to the community.
Their ingredients are sourced locally, and dishes are homemade with their highly sought-after family recipes.
Baba's borscht & cabbage roll recipes are homemade and fresh for their truck events and also frozen for customers to purchase and enjoy at home! Homemade salsa with the freshest ingredients purchased from local farmers top some of their Mexican dishes.

Starting with a Clear Path Forward Mental Health
Tips with
Jeff Sturgeon, BSc., MSW, RCSW, RSW
It is important to consider the value of the approach, or road map, that is utilized when seeking counselling. Single session therapy (SST) is a therapeutic approach where a client and therapist work together for a single, focused session, addressing specific issues or concerns. Your Counselling is proud to announce the launching of its Single Session Therapy program. Here are just a few of the benefits to an SST approach to counselling:
Immediate Access to Support:
o SST provides quick access to mental health support, helping clients address immediate concerns without waiting for multiple sessions.
Cost-Effective:
o With only one session needed, SST is more affordable than traditional therapy, making mental health support accessible.
Focused and Efficient:
o The session is highly focused, allowing the therapist and client to concentrate on the most pressing issue, leading to quick and effective solutions.
Empowerment and Self-Efficacy:
o SST often encourages clients to use their strengths and resources, fostering a sense of empowerment and self-efficacy in managing their problems.
Flexibility and Convenience:
o The SST program at Your Counselling has dedicated spaces each day for clients seeking this modality. We have daily telephone and in person options available.
Crisis Intervention:
o SST is particularly effective in crisis situations where immediate intervention is crucial, providing timely support, coping tools and a clear path to move forward.
Goal-Oriented Approach:
o The focused nature of SST helps clients set clear, achievable goals for the session, leading to concrete outcomes that can be immediately applied.
Enhanced Problem-Solving Skills:
o Through SST, clients can develop and refine problem-solving skills that they can use independently in the future, enhancing their ability to handle similar issues.
Launching into Ongoing Work:
o SST can serve as a powerful starting point for clients considering more traditional therapy. The initial session can help clarify issues and goals, allowing for a more targeted and effective approach in subsequent therapy sessions. Following your SST session the Therapist can match you to the best option for ongoing support.
From LOCAL Communities to the GLOBAL Community!
It’s remarkable how one event can bring the GLOBAL community together!
45,000 volunteers from 155 different countries came to ensure the Olympics were a success, alongside the Paris Olympics Team. The Olympic games brought people together from around the world, in person and from afar as we all tuned in from our homes to watch and cheer.
Athletes from the territories of 206 National Olympic Committees & the IOC Refugee Olympic Teams took part in the Olympic Games Paris 2024, with 10,714 athletes (plus their coaches, trainers, and support systems) and 48 disciplines.
CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL OF THE OLYMPIC GAME WINNERS & PARTICIPANTS!
*The history of the Olympics goes back 3000 years. With little knowledge about why the games started. But most sources state 776 BC was the very first Olympics held in Ancient Greece.
In 1894 Pierre de Coubertin launched his plan to revive the Olympic Games, and held the first modern games in Athens in 1896.
A Couple Canadian Highlight’s from the Games
8 medals in swimming for the Canadian swim team! 4 of which were won by Summer McIntosh. McIntosh is the first Canadian to win 4 medals in one Olympic Games. She also set two Olympic records: in the women’s 200m butterfly and the women’s 200m individual medley.
Congratulations to both the womens and men’s GOLD medal winners of the Hammer throw competition! Ethan Katzberg of Nanaimo B.C., and Camryn Rogers of Richmond B.C., both took home a gold medal, this is the first time in a Canadian has won gold in this competition, and the second time that one country won gold in both men’s and women’s events in the same Olympic games!
Canada’s Women’s Sevens Team won a historic silver medal at the 2024 Olympic games in Paris.
