The Patriots travel basketball program will be offered to boys and girls in grades 5-11, with camps and clinics being offered to players as young as third grade. Sixth Grade Boys Red wins Holiday Hoopla Tournament The All Saints Sixth Grade Boys Red basketball team took part in the Holy Rosary Holiday Hoopla Tournament. The team was able to cut down the nets after winning the event. The squad defeated Our Lady of Hope, 35-20, in the championship game.

Reigel gets 100th win; team equals non-conference win mark The UWP men’s basketball team recorded two milestones on back-to-back days in the DeSimone Gymnasium. On Dec. 29, the Rangers put an end to Wayne State’s eight-game winning streak by defeating the Warriors, 62-52, giving head coach Luke Reigel his 100th career win. The following evening, the Rangers routed Trinity Christian, 91-53, which gave the Rangers a 7-1 record in non-conference play, matching the 2007-08 squad for the program’s best non-league record since joining the Great Lakes Valley Conference in 1994. UWP returns to conference action Thursday, Jan. 5, at Missouri-St. Louis, at 7:30 p.m. and Saturday, Jan. 7, at Maryville, at 3 p.m. Both games can be heard live on WRJN 1400 AM and on the Internet at www.gatewaysportsweb.org Javar Lawson had seven points and five rebounds off the bench against Trinity Christian.

Rangers handle Indiana Northwest The UW-Parkside women’s basketball team improved its overall record to 8-2, rolling past Indiana Northwest, 61-48. The final non-conference game of the season was contested at UW-Parkside’s DeSimone Gymnasium Dec. 29. The Rangers had a strong first half, leading 44-20 at intermission, which included a 19-4 start. The Rangers now return to Great Lakes Valley Conference play with a pair of games in St. Louis, Mo. The team will take on Missouri-St. Louis Thursday, Jan. 5, at 5:30 p.m. before challenging cross-town Maryville Saturday, Jan. 7, at 1 p.m. Both games can be heard live on WRJN 1400 AM and on the Internet at www.gatewaysportsweb.org

Team Awesome lives up to its name The Kenosha YMCA concluded its Sunday night fall volleyball season with a tournament Dec. 18. Team Awesome defeated DeRango’s in straight sets, 25-14, 25-21, in a semifinal match. Team Mike topped Shenanigan’s, 25-18, 25-17, in the opposite semifinal match. Team Awesome then went on to beat Team Mike, 24-25, 25-19, 25-20, in a hotly contested three-set match to win the tournament championship.
