Q A
I do a lot of exercise and I sometimes feel fatigued during and after my workouts. Do you have any tips to help me train to my full potential? -Gabbrielle N. The last thing anyone wants to do is spend an hour in the gym and compromise the benefits of exercise by not fueling their body correctly. If you supply your body with the right pre and post-workout nutrition you will see incredible gains in your fitness goals. This holds true for weight loss goals and the muscle gainer or highly trained athlete as
could affect your ability to work out to your full potential and will aid in the breakdown of your muscles. You want to be able to use other sources of energy from carbs that you consume before your workouts, not from your existing muscle gains. In order to work out correctly and see better results you must fuel your body in the most beneficial ways.

SUPPLY YOUR BODY WITH THE RIGHT PRE & POST-WORKOUT NUTRITION & YOU WILL SEE INCREDIBLE RESULTS well. The combination of healthy eating, the right pre and post-workout nutrition and the correct amount of exercise can benefit you in more ways than exercise alone. During exercise the body will turn to carbohydrates for an energy source as stored energy is used up. Not having carbs readily available
On the next few pages you will read about some tools and Complete Nutrition product information that will help you to get the most out of your time at the gym.

Pre & Post Workout Nutrition: Maximizing Your Workouts One of the most important meals of the day, other than breakfast, is your pre-workout meal. This will fuel your body for the intense
physical action it is about to endure. If you are eating a meal, it should be consumed about 60-90 minutes before exercise begins to allow the body time to digest and make nutrients available to the body during exercise. To give yourself that added endurance and strength component for your workouts, some essential pre-workout supplements are Inertia™ and Buzzerk™. These pre-workout drinks give an unbelievable amount of energy and endurance for your entire workout supplying you with important nutrients to help you get the most out of your workout. Now you are equipped with the right nutrients to train hard and see those results you want.
Your training is done and during this post-workout
period, your muscles are begging to be fed. The muscle cells are incredibly hungry for nutrition and will suck up all you can give them, decreasing the chance that fat cells will instead be the recipients of the provided nutrients. The basic goal of exercise is to force muscles to break themselves down (catabolism) and then rebuild (anabolism). In hours and days following your workout, your muscles will rebuild themselves and become stronger and more able to deal with the next workout. Muscles need carbohydrates to replace their drained fuel sources (muscle glycogen) and they need protein to begin the rebuilding process. The better the nutrients you provide them, the better work they will be able to do. When your body is provided the right nutrients, it will exit its catabolic state and enter an anabolic state faster. You’ll want to fuel your body within 30 minutes of your workout.
One example for a quick meal that can be taken 30 minutes prior to working out is: 1 scoop of Smart Smoothie mixed with a 2 oz juice and 4 - 6 oz water, or 1 scoop of Smart Smoothie mixed with 6-8 oz of water and a fruit blend.
The quickest and most effective meal is in
liquid form. You need the right combination of carbs and protein, and additionally important to your post workout equation is glutamine and creatine. These nutrients will help your muscles recover to become stronger and leaner. An amazing product that can do all of this is Complete Nutrition’s Rezzerect™. It contains all the essential nutrients in the right combination: protein, carbohydrates, glutamine and creatine. Rezzerect™ takes the guesswork out of measuring 4 different key components to achieve the same result from one product.
For more of an endurance athlete, the new Morph™ Pro Complete®, as your “good” carb intake, mixed with a scoop of the new V-core™ Pro Complete® protein will give you lasting energy. To give yourself that added endurance and strength component for your workouts, Inertia ™ or Buzzerk™ are essential supplements in your pre workout intake.

Fuel, Gain & Recover: The Benefit of Pre & Post Workout Supplements
You need to eat prior to a workout. Physical activity
As soon as possible, or within 30 minutes after
on an empty stomach can cause a drop in blood sugar and may result in weakness and dizziness. About 30 minutes to an hour before exercise, you should have a small quantity of food, just enough to ensure you are not working out on an empty stomach.
exercise, you should have a light snack or meal consisting of a combination of protein and complex carbs. This is important so your muscles can repair themselves after the strain of a workout.
Quick digesting proteins such as V-Core™ ProComplete ® , Titan™ ProComplete® or SMART Smoothie™ are great options. You can add protein to something simple like water or no-sugar added fruit juice or you could also make a smoothie with fruit and milk. There are endless options with protein powder!
Complete Nutrition’s post-workout formulas and proteins are a great option for fast absorption and muscle repair. As good as high-protein foods may be, time is of the essence after exercise. Your body will require more time to digest protein in solid form versus liquid form. It’s also more convenient to whip up a protein shake as opposed to taking the time to cook up some chicken or eggs. The thirty minute window after your workout is your best chance of restoring the nutrients lost during workouts for faster repair.
Complex carbohydrates will help to restore muscle glycogen, which if not taken from carbohydrates, will be taken from your muscles. This causes a breakdown in muscle tissue, which is the opposite of what you want while working out. Try mixing some of Complete Nutrition’s non-flavored MORPH™ ProComplete® into your pre workout protein shake in order to stock up on energy before every workout. This will help sustain energy levels throughout your training.
Other light snack options can include a handful of almonds, a banana, 1% cottage cheese, water packed tuna and egg whites or egg substitutes. Depending on your weight and mass goals, a grilled 8oz.. chicken breast is a lean protein choice if you’ve had the time to pre-cook the food for quick post workout ingestion.
