Evolution of the volume of agroexports carried by air Source: Comex / Elaboration: Talma

About 85% of the volume of exports by air are fresh products —and, therefore, perishable. This scenario requires high investments in equipment and technology by companies that transport and store this type of products, so they may ensure the cold chain.

a selective and cumulative storage system. Likewise, Talma has implemented software to monitor temperatures and relative humidity of the refrigeration and freezing chambers.

Reception and security process

Temperature handling and control is a critical factor for the preservation of the quality of fresh products during storage and distribution, thus maintaining the cold chain is a critical factor to strengthen trade. In that sense, Talma has invested in infrastructure and specialized equipment for the transport of perishable cargo, from receiving it in its warehouses until embarking it on the aircrafts. This logistics process involves reception and security processes, the storage of the cargo and its subsequent palletizing in ULDs, to be finally transported and embarked in the aircraft. The investment made by our company to ensure maintaining the cold chain includes cold chambers with over 15,000 mÂł of storage capacity, automatic refrigeration equipment, humidification lines in each chamber and

98,881,360 ; 79%

In 2016, 94% of the perishable goods export volume had as destination the North American and European markets, with 61% and 33%, respectively. This shows that there is potential for agroexport to other destinations, especially the Asian market, which represented only 3% of the volume transported by air in the same year.

The main products transported by air are asparagus, mangoes, and blueberries, among others. Given that they are perishable goods, they need to reach their destination with immediacy, so transporting them by sea would take longer, thus losing much of their value.

Among the main challenges that need to be addressed in order to increase growth of perishable goods exports by air, are the decentralization of air cargo operations to airports near production areas (such as Pisco, Chiclayo and Trujillo), as well as meeting the new challenges in security. To do so, it is necessary to achieve a greater alignment of all agents involved in foreign trade.

TALMA NEWS

Certification contributes to improving quality, productivity, profitability and safety, as well as other aspects related to competitiveness

Talma receives recognition from the Quality Management Committee

Representatives of Talma receive award

In the framework of Quality Week, organized by the Industrial Development Center of the National Association of Industries, Talma was recognized by the Quality Management Committee for having recertified the triple standard (ISO 9001: 2015, ISO 14001: 2015, OHSAS 18001: 2007). Recertification took place in July of this year. With more than 25 years in the market, Talma Servicios Aeroportuarios S.A. has a powerful and efficient Integrated Management System (IMS) that contributes to ensure compliance with the laws and regulations of the sector. It also allows for fair and ethical management of human capital, and the care and prevention of occupational safety and health, minimizes environmental pollution, and establishes the framework for a constant review and measurement of compliance with the requirements and expectations of the company's stakeholders. The IMS scope has been defined according to the context and the needs of the organization, the requirements of the stakeholders and the market in general. It should be noted that in the aeronautical sector there are also rigorous international standards that require strict compliance, and high-level performance.

In 2002, Talma certified its Quality Management System with the ISO 9001 standard, validating the good practices executed, the actions for continuous improvement, and the development of external auditing processes. The guidelines of the ISO standard allowed Talma to homologate its standards with those corresponding to its clients, as well as to improve its productivity. This way, the company strengthened the organization management through a process approach that facilitated the alignment of the operational activity with the standards and regulations corresponding to the airport sector. In 2004, Talma certified its Environmental Management System (ISO 14001) and its Occupational Health and Safety Management System (OHSAS 18001), which brought with it considerable improvements in environmental impact control processes, as well as OHS controls, with the consequent reduction of work accidents. With these certifications, Talma integrated its processes, thus aligning document management and knowledge management in each of them, and establishing the standards and controls necessary to comply with the requirements of the client, the legislation and the regulations in force. Currently, Talma has implemented its Anti-Bribery Management System (ISO 37001), and it is expecting to obtain the certification.

Electronic Air Waybill

Peru classified as open to the e-AWB initiative

$ e-AWB

Talma has been prioritizing the e-AWB initiative at all levels of the Cargo Business Unit

Through a joint support strategy, Talma, SUNAT (Air Customs Administration-IAAP) and some of our client airlines, succeeded on having IATA confirm on September 28th that Peru is no longer on the list of countries where the electronic air waybill (e-AWB) is not accepted. This was achieved taking into consideration that the IAAP does not require any documentation exchange regarding the air transport of exports or imports in the Airline-Terminal (GHA)-Customs flow. Talma has been prioritizing the e-AWB initiative at all levels of the Cargo Business Unit, in line with its permanent goal of providing world-class Cargo Handling services. In this sense, through its Hermesreal-time management platform, which allows for management of strong and standardized operative flows, Talma has strengthened the electronic messaging functionality in line with the e-AWB initiative, so it may be integrated to the systems of our client airlines and, eventually, to freight forwarders.

and information required by Customs, Civil Aviation and other regulatory authorities. Improved Security. Electronic documentation is only available to the members of the supply chain that require it for shipments. Environmental responsibility. e-AWB will eliminate more than 7,800 tons of paper, equivalent to 80 B-747F freighters; likewise, it will contribute to reduce weight and, consequently, CO2 emissions over time. Better accuracy. A single typing at the port of origin reduces delays in shipments due to errors or inconsistencies when entering information. Similarly, delays in delivery or transit of shipments due to loss of documents will be eliminated. Talma will continue to actively support the air freight industry in Peru so we may remain, together and collaboratively, at the forefront of best practices in the region.

All parties involved in air cargo transport must commit to working together to achieve the true benefits of the e-AWB, including: Regulatory compliance. e-AWB complies with all international regulations regarding the dispatch of electronic documentation InfoTALMA

OPERATIONS

Talma has several authorizations to provide aircraft maintenance services.

Aircraft Maintenance

Aircraft maintenance

Approximately 3.2 trillion passengers are transported around the world, by some 1,500 airlines; each of these airlines operates different types of aircrafts, such as Boeing, Airbus, Embraer, Bombardier, among others. In order to ensure safety for passengers and optimum operation for the aircraft, the manufacturer delivers a preventive maintenance program to each operator, stating therein all the tasks that must be performed, as well as their frequency. Thus, each airline must guarantee adherence to the maintenance program in full compliance with the highest standards of quality and efficiency. The maintenance must be performed by a Maintenance Organization approved by the state of registration and operation of the aircraft. In the case of Talma, we have the authorization of the General Directorate of Civil Aeronautics of Peru (OMA-032), the Federal Aviation Administration of the United States of America (OMA-1TMY400C), the General Directorate of Civil Aeronautics of Chile CMAE-509), the General Directorate of Civil Aviation of Ecuador (DAC-Repair Station-059), and the Special Administrative Unit of Civil Aeronautics of Colombia - Aerocivil (TARE-028).

outsourcing this service. This is where our OMA-032 Approved Maintenance Organization becomes a strategic ally for airlines with regular, non-regular or cargo operations. Our OMA has a highly qualified and trained team to meet these needs and assure our clients the airworthiness of their operation. Our technical and administrative staff has as an objective embedded in their DNA: to carry out their work following all relevant procedures, ensuring that safety standards are never violated. Most of our aircraft maintenance operations are concentrated in night shifts, since it is when airlines usually stop their operations. It is then when our technical team goes to work. Each year we provide thousands of man hours to different airlines, so that compliance with their maintenance program is backed by the effort, dedication, commitment, loyalty and integrity of TALMA’s OMA-032 entire team.
