Raising the standards of customs control and security

Fifth Meeting of the Committee on Customs Control and Supply Chain Security

The committee meeting was held at the offices of Talma in Lima Cargo City

On April 18 of this year, Talma Servicios Aeroportuarios SA hosted the Fifth Committee Meeting on Customs Control and Supply Chain Security, in coordination with the Peruvian Customs and the Special Operations Unit.

Did you know...?

With the common goal of strengthening and raising the standards of customs control and supply chain security at the Jorge Chรกvez International Airport, a committee composed of the Customs Control Department of SUNAT and members of the Special Operations Unit, has been meeting on a quarterly basis. The Special Operations Unit ("BOE", for its name in Spanish) has been put together by storage terminals (including Talma), airlines, airport operators and other companies related to the industry. Talma is committed to offering maximum security in all its processes, complying with national and international standards that allow for a successful and seamless operation. That is why Talma's participation in the aforementioned Committee is of great importance for the company; it helps us to work hand in hand with other stakeholders in the sector in a joint effort to boost security and customs control in the airport sector.

Talma has direct access to the platform of the Jorge Chรกvez International Airport, through a 380-meter long tunnel. This tunnel represents a great advantage in terms of security for the cargo to be loaded onto aircraft.

Talma: Present in forums and industry events

Rodrigo Martins, in the panel "The Big Debate: Realizing Latin America’s aviation potential"

Ground Handling International Conference - Americas Rodrigo Martins, VP Ground Handling Services of Talma Servicios Aeroportuarios, participated in the last edition of the international conference "Ground Handling International Conference - GHIC Americas", held in Miami from June 25 to 28, where he was one of the panelists in the exhibition called "The Big Debate: Realizing Latin America’s aviation potential".

This is the second time that Rodrigo has taken part as a guest, and it has been an excellent opportunity for Talma to exchange experiences at an event attended by over 200 professionals from the industry, including technology service providers, ramp equipment manufacturers, ramp service providers and also airlines.

The panel discussion, which also included Patricia Kraus, General Manager of Spirit Airlines for Peru, and Roberto Gomes, Senior Consultant of Quality Assurance GH Consulting of Brazil, dealt with topics such as the entry of low cost airlines into the region and the effects this has had on the companies that provide airport services; the growth challenges in the region based on the infrastructure offered by airports that are currently operating with a passenger flow rate above their capacity; innovations in the industry that help reduce the operational risks of operating in congested airports; levels of stakeholder collaboration with the objective of coordinating ground operations more effectively, among other issues.

Also, among the topics highlighted this year, the most important were debates regarding business opportunities in the Latin American region, the challenges that service providers face based on operating in increasingly congested airports, investment that is done in technology to face the complexity of apron operations, as well as the effect of the entry of low cost airlines into the region.

GHIC has been going on for 20 years, and for over 10 of these years Talma has participated in this important event in different parts of the world.

Internal communication campaign: the thoughtful football fan

Employees at the "The thoughtful football fan" celebration

After the Peruvian team qualified for the 2018 World Cup in Russia, the whole country celebrated this accomplishment and we all started the preparations to watch the games. In this context, Talma's Talent Management office formulated an internal communication campaign entitled "The thoughtful football fan", with the aim of encouraging effort and work dedication. The unconditional support to the Peruvian team by all the employees during the World Cup was also reflected in every act of responsibility and engagement at work. The company rewarded this effort by providing the facilities necessary to watch the games during the World Cup, implementing big screens, decorating workspaces with the Russia 2018 theme, and also giving away assorted prizes such as t-shirts, hats and other merchandising. This campaign also highlighted camaraderie and teamwork, which, as in football, are very important in order to achieve significant results.
