Master of Science (MSc)
MARRES - SCIENCE, CONSERVATION & VALORIZATION OF THE MARINE RESOURCES
Objectives Our interdisciplinary approach, combined with innovative learning methods, empowers students to become academic scientists, conservation specialists, entrepreneurs, or all of the above. Whatever their preference, graduates will be the open-minded specialists our societies need to solve current and emerging ocean-related challenges. To become such talented professionals, our students will: - acquire high-level scientific knowledge, develop critical thinking and adopt the scientific approach in any circumstance. - aid decision making by learning how to assess ecosystem health and environmental impacts of projects with up-to-date techniques and tools (EIA, GIS, etc.) and by adapting their communication to a targeted audience. - appraise current and emerging marine societal challenges, and possible solutions, taking into account the development level of a country. - become entrepreneurs by developing their skills in project management, business administration, marine legislation and intellectual property protection.
As we are only now beginning to uncover the role of the ocean in our society, it’s crucial to bring together scientific, economic and societal stakeholders. The greater understanding of marine ecosystems offered by scientists is now opening up brand new socio-economic opportunities. The idea: develop our knowledge of the ocean to better value and protect its resources.
Program The innovative and interdisciplinary approach aims to comprehend the intertwined scientific, societal and economic aspects of the ocean. In MARRES, marine science combines with chemical engineering, legislation, digital tools and entrepreneurship. 10 cumulative months of internships, real-life and long-term projects developed with laboratories, NGOs, governments and companies will enable students to specialize in science, conservation or valorization of marine resources.
Future careers The M.Sc. MARRES program allows the students to continue to Ph.D. prgrams, as a prelude to their future academic career. Students will have the opportunity to develop local or international conservation projects. They may also work in the private sector, in modeling the marine environment, becoming project leaders, project managers, or auditors for organizations connected with environmental issues. Finally, they may become entrepreneurs by creating green (or blue) start-ups valorizing the countless marine resources that they will help to protect.
Master of Science (MSc) MARRES - Science, Conservation & Valorization of the Marine Resources Admission • Students enrolling in the first year should be proficient in English and to be comfortable with biological and ecological basics with a bachelor or “license” (French term) in a relevant field. They should be curious and open-minded, especially in terms of the socio-economic implications of science. • Students having a limited background in biological science and/or ecology (such as business or management majors) and student who do not meet the English proficiency requirements (Toefl 520 / iBT 70) may have to complete a preparatory period before starting the program. • Students with a strong background in biology, ecology and/or oceanography (coming from other programs) may apply for second-year admissions. A jury will investigate the viability of such a project. The 2nd year opens on Fall 2019. • Students unable to attend the program on-site (such as employed students or those with medical restrictions) can apply for the online option. However, their presence is required for a fixed period of time each semester.
Tuition fees: 4000€* *The tuition fee may vary according to your residence status, namely if you are a resident of an EU country or of a country outside the EU. In addition, financial aid (need-based or merit-based scholarships) will be available to students, and other sources of funding will also be available through each training course.
Partners • International scientific partners:
• Conservation management partners: governments of emerging countries and international NGOs • Outreach partners: local NGOs
• Entrepreneurship partners: local to international startups and companies

Master of Science (MSc) MODELING FOR NEURONAL AND COGNITIVE SYSTEMS (MODNEUCOG
Objectives Graduates will have acquired the basic knowledge in mathematics, statistics, computer science, biology and cognitive science needed to model neurocognitive systems. Moreover, students will have been able to specialise in a domain of interest thanks to the projects conducted in UCA laboratories. All these laboratories are members of the C@UCA core program «Cognitive systems, normality and pathology of the human brain, computationnal neuroscience». The areas of specialisation include medecine, mathematics, linguistics, physics, experimental economics, psychology, computer science, neurophysiology and chemistry of olfaction. Throughout the program, students will be confronted several times with interactions in all these fields, especially in group work. This will give each student the unique opportunity to progressively make individual choices, acquire autonomous thinking and work in an interdisciplinary setting. International mobility and Research & Development work in private companies will also be encouraged through internships.
G)
Through its innovative approaches to mentoring, MoNeuCog aims to foster natural curiosity and autonomy in students. The goal is to develop active researchers at the interface of applied mathematics and cognitive sciences.
Program The first year is dedicated to the basics. It starts with 5 intensive weeks of bootcamp (update training in mathematics, programming and experimental set-ups). The student will develop an efficient and independent working method and become acquainted with the environment of OpenNeuroLab, which is designed to promote group work. The student will continue learning the basics through coursework and projects in one of two tracks: «Computational and Mathematical Neuroscience» and «Cognitive Sciences and Experimentation». Three mini-projects, conceived and supervised in collaboration with UCA laboratories, will be carried out in groups in the OpenNeuroLab. An additional requirement, also based on group work, is a self-designed project to be developed by students in the OpenNeuroLab, where students will be responsible for a small budget. The second year is mainly centered around two internships, with at least one being either abroad or in a private company.
Master of Science (MSc) Modeling for neuronal and cognitive systems (Mod4NeuCog)
Admission Candidates should have a bachelor’s or an equivalent degree in mathematics, computer science, biology, psychology, electrical engineering, economics or linguistics. In addition, they will have to provide evidence of their ability to follow mathematical courses at a rapid pace (preparatory classes, double degree, syllabi of previous mathematics courses and evidence of good grades in these courses, recommendation letters, etc). Students must also provide a motivation letter explaining their interest in neuroscience and cognition and briefly describing a project they would like to develop. The admission will be selective, based on the students’ application materials.
Tuition fees: 4000€* *The tuition fee may vary according to your residence status, namely if you are a resident of an EU country or of a country outside the EU. In addition, financial aid (need-based or merit-based scholarships) will be available to students, and other sources of funding will also be available through each training course.

Digital Transformation and IoT Consulting (Digit-IoT)
Objectives Benefits for the student (traditional initial training) - Access to up-to-date research and reflection stimulated by leading researchers and reflective practitioners from different industries. - Benefits of the local Sophia-Antipolis ecosystem and the UCAJEDI ‘Digital Challenge’ reference center, which is also the emblematic site of French Tech. Benefits for the organization (executive training) - An increase in confidence, expertise and ability to successfully manage digital and IoT projects. - A capacity to better understand the IoT market, as well as a sense of the implications of changes in the wider digital environment, showing how the ‘big picture’ connects with the details. - A space for reflection away from day-to-day work routines to enable to leverage change more effectively. - A modular format that enables participants to integrate study into their working life. If you wish to participate in one or several modules in the framework of an executive training program, you will be awarded a certificate from the University Côte d’Azur upon succesful completion of the module. Successful candidates can participate in one or several modules. Participants who successfully complete a module are awarded a certificate from the Université Côte d’Azur to confirm attendance and completion of the module.
The graduate diploma DigitIoT is a multidisciplinary program that will broaden your repertoire as an IoT consultant and a leader in digital innovation. The emphasis on critical thinking will enable you to adjust expertise to specific situations. Our program provides global grounding in digital economics and management, recent legal issues in IoT, design, ergonomics and technological challenges in the IoT domain. Our faculty are experts in their fields and they develop up-to-date best practices and the latest academic research. Partnerships with local firms (such as IBM) in the digital domain will offer all our students professional coaching to help define their team-work competencies and their multisdiciplinary analytical skills.
