> Rodolfo Mederos close the 8th edition of the Guitarras del Mundo festival with the 3rd and final performance. The Argentinean bandoneon player, arranger and composer with a vast repertoire, has played with a number of top musicians throughout his prolific career. He believes music must change minds and be openly provocative – deconstructing, arranging and transforming the soul of the viewers. One of the most emblematic figures of the Tango – his vast work covers compositions from folk to symphonic, traveling through different instrumental groups.

> Carl Orff´s masterpiece “Carmina Burana” returns to Palma with 150 performers on stage together with the simultaneous screening of video creations. A powerful piece of 20th century music that introduces all to the world of classical music. The world premiere in 1937 Germany was a tremendous hit that spread across opera houses becoming an international triumph. A collection of songs about wine, women and love, based on poems in Latin, German and French from a manuscript dated 1280 found in the Benedictine monastery of Beuren. Under the direction of Fernando Marina, two pianos, percussion, choir, soloists and 150 musicians take the stage. > La obra maestra de Carl Orff, “Carmina Burana”, vuelve a Palma con 150 artistas sobre el escenario junto a unas simultáneas video creaciones en pantalla. Una impactante pieza del siglo XX que presenta todo un mundo de la música clásica. En 1937 fue el estreno mundial en Alemania y se convirtió en todo un triunfo internacional a través de todos los teatros de ópera. Una colección de canciones sobre el vino, las mujeres y el amor, basadas en poemas en latín, alemán y francés de un manuscrito de 1280 encontrado en el monasterio benedictino de Beuren. Bajo la dirección de Fernando Marina, dos pianos, percusión, coro, solistas y 150 músicos, tomarán el escenario.

> Five days of a gastronomic routes where the public will be traveling to a variety of bars and restaurants while enjoying the delights of the well known “tapeo”. Family and friends gather together to discover a world of flavors and places available for everyone. Simultaneously a jury, split into teams, will be doing their job to reward the best!

> The 6th year of this multidisciplinary festival of performing arts, music and audiovisual has taken place with a number of spectacular events since its opening. October brings a 2-day music festival on the 8th and 9th, promising something for everyone. Followed by a number of activities in the Parc de la Mar from the 22-24 including stands by various social organizations, 2 stages featuring world music performances, a large tent featuring the Argentinean Circus, an exhibition hall and screenings of films that touch on topics such as human rights and the environment among others.

> Cinco días de ruta gastronómica donde el público podrá ir recorriendo una gran diversidad de bares y restaurantes mientras disfrutan del placer del tapeo. El sentirse rodeado de buen ambiente y pasear por las fascinantes calles de la ciudad de Palma, mientras uno va de rondas, harán de estos cinco días que la gente se reúna junto a familiares y amigos para descubrir todo un mundo de sabores y lugares al alcance de cualquiera. Simultáneamente un jurado, divido en equipos, irá realizando su trabajo para premiar a los mejores.

> El 6º año del festival multidisciplinar de artes escénicas, música y audiovisuales, ha tomado lugar con un gran número de espectaculares eventos desde su apertura. Octubre nos brinda un festival musical de 2 días (8 y 9), prometiendo algo para todos los gustos. > The Campbell Brothers present “Sacred Steel” on the 13th – blues music with electric steel guitar and vocals. A rare music tradition rooted in the African-American Pentecostal church that has been part of the celebrations for 60 years. Today, the music has been transported to the concert halls. They present a rich and varied repertoire of material in a new variant that features sounds, voices and rhythms never before heard in this context. Their use of the wah wah pedal and instruments imitating the human voice evokes the moans of the blues. The renowned Cuban drummer and percussionist, Horacio “El Negro” Hernandez & Italuba also take the stage on the 17th. > The Campell Brothers presentan el 13 “Sacred Stell” – música blues con guitarras eléctricas y voces. Una tradición de música especial arraigada en la iglesia pentecostal afroamericana que ha sido parte de las celebraciones durante 60 años. Hoy, la música ha sido trasplantada a las salas de concierto. Presentan un repertorio rico y variado de material con una nueva variante destacando sonidos, voces y ritmos nunca antes oídos. Su empleo del pedal wah wah e instrumentos que imitan la voz humana evocan los gemidos del blues. El renombrado batería y percusionista cubano, Horacio Hernandez “El Negro” e Italuba también tomarán el escenario el día 17.

> The Eifman Ballet, founded in 1977 by Boris Eifman is recognised as the best Russian ballet company today. Oneguin is based on the novel by Pushkin Eugene Oneguin that portrays a character accurate to the time, creating a “poetic image of the Russian soul, mysterious, unpredictable and incredibly sensual”. Eifman maintains this philosophy with the story set against choreography where we see history through the eyes of a person of our time. Artistic images fused with light and sound shows creating a mixture of reality and fantasy that proves a powerful experience.

> Agustín El Casta, has the pleasure of presenting to us a special spectacle to say goodbye to the summer. The performances includes El Casta himself and his two most beloved characters; the unique Klaus Kartoffel and Lorenzo Llamas. In the first part, and for the first time in theatres, the great premiere of this season: the parliament “Que Vergüenza” (What a Shame) performed by El Casta and released with great success this past July. With his usual grace he will live many of the complex situations which we have to face throughout our lives.

> The 24th Opera season of the Theatre Principal will come to a close with the work of Léo Delibes, “Lakme”. Performances will include the Balearic Symphony Orchestra, Theatre Principal Choir and select soloists including Silvia Vázquez, Eric Fennell, Frédérique Sizaret, Maia Planas, Elsa Salord, Eulalia Salbanyà & Manuel Velasco. Lakmé is an opera in 3 acts based on the novel “Rarahu o le marriage” by Pierre Loti. Set in colonial India, it explores the exotic land colonized by the great European empires, a theme of great inspiration for the arts of the nineteenth century. > La XXIV Temporada de Ópera del Teatre Principal finalizará el próximo mes con la obra de Léo Delibes “Lakmé”. En estos conciertos intervendrán la Orquestra Simfónica de Baleares Ciutat de Palma, el Cor del Teatre Principal, y un selecto grupo de solistas; Silvia Vázquez, Eric Fennell, Frédérique Sizaret, Maia Planas, Elsa Salord, Eulalia Salbanyà i Manuel Velasco. En el se incluyen las actuaciones del propio Casta y de sus dos personajes más queridos; los inigualables Klaus Kartoffel y Lorenzo Llamas. En la primera parte, y por primera vez en teatros, el gran estreno de esta temporada: el parlamento “Qué Vergüenza” interpretado por el Casta y estrenado con gran éxito el pasado mes de Julio. Él lo que hace, es darles vida en sus creaciones “naturales”. Amador Vallina, nació en 1957 en El Entrego, Asturias, España, y se trasladó a principios de los años 70 a Alemania. Desde 1999 también ha trabajado en su segundo estudio de Mallorca. Su trabajo artístico ha sido mostrado en muchas colectivas y exposiciones en solitario por Europa pudiendo ser así encontrado en colecciones de Alemania, Suiza, Austria, España, el Reino Unido, EE.UU., y Dinamarca...
