When asked to style a How to Train Your Dragon party for Joshua’s
complete with waterfall and fondant dragons, and popular dragon
6th birthday, I was excited for the challenge given I was totally

The idea for the pots came from Pinterest, however I decided the suggested card stock was not durable enough for enthusiastic 6-year olds and opted to cut from felt and use iron-on transfers to apply the features. I decided grazing would be even more attractive served off the decks of custom Viking ships with themed sail and shields. We chose two feature desserts – the pièce de résistance cake

perfect for an enormous three-metre hand-carved and painted dragon who kept a watchful eye over the party. Everywhere you looked, guests were met with more evidence they had stepped onto the island of Berk, with Viking shields, axes and swords completing the styling. Each child took home their dragon pot loaded with fun party favours including slime with custom labels. During pack down a smiling Joshua asked me ‘How did you know so much about How to Train Your Dragon?’ This was evidence enough I had risen to the challenge of delivering a theme I initially knew nothing about. h
